PhantomLink Launches Free Cloud-Based Alarm Monitoring and Notification Services

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) August 29, 2012

Just last month, Phantom Data Services, LLC announced the release of its PhantomLink security monitoring device as an open-source project. Continuing that trend, Phantom Data Services is now pleased to announce the launch of a free cloud-based alarm self-monitoring service to provide do-it-yourself alarm installers with the ability to monitor their systems over the web, and receive automatic email and text message notifications for no charge. The service is designed to work not only with PhantomLink devices, but also other custom electronic security systems built by do-it-yourselfers and electronics hobbyists. Services include a web-based dashboard for logging and reviewing alarm statistics, automated email and text message notifications triggered by specific alarm events, and a portal for linking to real-time webcam video streams.

“Nearly 80% of households in the U.S. have internet access,” says Adam Peters, PhantomLink.com’s founder. “So why are people still paying their hard-earned money to a central station to monitor their alarm? Just connect it to the internet and monitor it yourself! My goal for PhantomLink is to help as many people as possible break away from their expensive service contracts, save money, and get real value out of their security systems.”

Although several self-monitored alarm products already exist, most are email-based or hosted on a local server. However, PhantomLink’s cloud-based approach delivers several benefits, including (1) multiple data delivery methods (not just email), (2) fewer firewall and routing issues, (3) continual monitoring of network connection health, (4) off-site data logging, (5) more intelligent event processing and triggering, (6) integrated display and visualization tools (including webcam video), (7) an online management interface, (8) the ability to expand features and capabilities as more cloud technologies become available, (9) an open-source design that invites customization and enhancement, and (10) no-cost notification services.

Do-it-yourself alarm installers and electronics hobbyists can find free circuit schematics, source code, interface specifications, and instructions on the PhantomLink.com DIY page.

PhantomLink.com provides do-it-yourself remote security monitoring solutions. PhantomLink.com was developed by and is operated by Phantom Data Services, LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company specializing in website development services. Mountain Alarm Offers Motion Sensing Technology Capable of Seeing Through Walls

(PRWEB) September 23, 2012

Mountain Alarm, a division of Fire Protection Service Corporation, announced today that they are partnering with Xandem Technology, a Utah startup company based in Salt Lake City, to make Tomographic Sensing Detection (TMD) available to commercial and residential customers throughout the Intermountain West. TMD is created by installing a network of wireless nodes that sense motion within a specified area and send a signal back to a receiver at the security panel. Unlike current infrared motion sensors or beam sensors, TMD does not require a direct line of site in order to detect movement and register an alarm. TMD sensors can be placed in cabinets or even built into the walls without degrading the detection sensitivity.

Mountain Alarm deployed one of the first Xandem TMD networks in 2011 at a warehouse facility for a client in which other detection technologies were ineffective. The harsh environment, temperature changes, large coverage area and equipment blocking the line of site created a very difficult challenge in which other devices would easily false alarm, said Brad Nye, General Manager for Mountain Alarm Northern Utah. The Xandem TMD solution was easy to install, offers complete and reliable coverage, and hasnt resulted in a single false alarm. The warehouse facility manager stated, Our company has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars from break-ins to our warehouses in the past. Since installing Xandems TMD technology, all further break-ins have been halted. TMD was the only solution available that gave us reliable and complete coverage with its see-through capabilities. Mountain Alarm can retro-fit nearly any security panel to support a TMD network. There are several game-changing advantages that stand out about Xandem TMD, says Mountain Alarms Director of Marketing, Justin Fawson. Not only can we connect them to existing panels, theyre ideal in harsh environments and can be installed in places where they cannot be seen. This appeals to our customers who want discretion and, more importantly, prevents would-be intruders from locating the devices in order to circumvent or defeat them. Even coming through the wall would not prevent detection by a TMD network. Another advantage of the TMD is that the sensitivity can be adjusted for a variety of situations. One of my favorites is what we call party mode in which the sensitivity is adjusted to only detect the movement of a group of people. No more crazy parties while mom and dad are on vacation, says Fawson.

Xandem TMD is immediately available through Mountain Alarm to customers in Utah, with availability in Idaho, Washington and Colorado later this year. For a TMD quote or to speak with a salesperson, visit http://www.mountainalarm.com and click on the Xandem TMD link.
