Latisys Announces Further Expansion Of Suburban Chicago Data Center

The expanded facility, Latisys CH2, will now provide customers in the Chicago metro area and surrounding Midwest markets with approximately 136,000 gross square feet of space.

The expanded facility is tied directly to existing fiber carriers in the building, will be monitored 24x7x365 by on-site NOC personnel and systems, and will be operated under SAS70 Type II procedures. The expansion space comes equipped with 32,000 square feet of immediately available, raised floor datacenter space, as well as an initial 5 MW of utility power and 1.2 MW of generator power which will be upgraded in early 2011.

Throughout his 15 year career, Christian has established himself as an accomplished and forward-thinking data center engineering and product development professional, said Evans Mullan, Chief Operating Officer, Latisys. Christians considerable experience managing large teams and driving the development strategy for a wide range of innovative data center solutions makes him the ideal choice to lead our managed services initiatives and platform development.

For the past nine years, prior to joining Latisys, Teeft served in various capacities at NTT America, most recently as VP of Product Development, Engineering and OSS. In that role, Teeft served as a core member of the management team responsible for setting the companys strategic technology direction; and led multiple engineering teams responsible for Platform, Storage, Network, OSS, Custom Engineering, and DB practice. In addition, his organization was responsible for R&D of new products and services, managing and maintaining the hosting infrastructure for several data centers, and custom solution support.

After expansion and build-out, total capacity of the new high-density data center facility will exceed 82,000 square feet more than doubling the current Latisys footprint in Colorado.

Located in Englewood, Colorado on a 6.5-acre campus, Latisys second Denver-area data center (DEN2) will have an initial 14 Megawatts of power and will add another 10 Megawatts in the next phase of development.
