Multiprotocol Label Switching Deployed by Signal Solutions Corp for Recology

Benicia, CA (PRWEB) October 15, 2009

Signal Solutions teamed up with AT&T to install the equipment and circuits required to replace Recology’s older frame relay network. Signal Solutions performed over 100 site visits throughout Recology’s broad service region to survey, deploy, turn up and test the new MPLS network and a redundant backup system.

Services included the extension of MPLS and out of band modem circuits from the entrance facilities to the equipment rooms, installation of Cisco MPLS routers and attachment of the routers to the MPLS and local area networks. Prior to turn up, Signal Solutions field technicians tested all MPLS deployments in tandem with AT&T’s test center engineers. Cut-over from the old frame relay network to the new MPLS network successfully took place without a hitch over one weekend.

To make sure that no location would ever go offline, AT&T provided a redundant connection to each site using its DSL services where available, and its 3G wireless network service where DSL was not available. This backup system provided a seamless cutover to either DSL or the 3G wireless network in the event of a MPLS circuit failure. Signal Solutions deployment services for the backup system included the extension of the DSL circuits (where available) from the entrance facilities to the equipment rooms, installation of AT&T Netgate 8100 routers, installation of 3G wireless cards when needed, attachment of the routers to the local area networks and functional testing of the redundant links by disconnecting the MPLS circuits.

In the midst of the MPLS deployment, Signal Solutions was tasked with installing a new Category 6 rated cabling system consisting of over 300 outlets and the construction of the corporate computer room at Recology’s new corporate offices.

Concurrently, at the new Sacramento data center and disaster recovery site, Signal Solutions partnered with IBM Corporation to provide the necessary infrastructure services to interconnect the new computing and communications systems, including the installation of racking systems, 400+ Category 6A cables and fiber optic backbone systems.

According to Mike McLaughlin, Director of Information Technology at Recology: “We have relied on Signal Solutions for our voice and data connectivity needs for more than 20 years. With all the projects we had on our plate and the limited internal resources available to us, Signal Solutions was a logical choice to assist us, having time and again provided us with professional technical expertise, excellent service and quality workmanship at a reasonable price. All 3 projects were successfully completed on time and within budget. Once again, they proved to be the right choice.”

New Release of Emerson Network Powers Avocent

Huntsville, Alabama (PRWEB) September 10, 2012

Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and a global leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, today introduced a new release of the Avocent HMX High Performance KVM switch with features that significantly enhance its functionality and usability.

The Avocent HMX High Performance KVM switch is the market-leading IP matrix KVM switch for the last five years. It provides users with the ability to quickly access remote high-performance work stations or computing equipment with the same user experience they would have if they were connected directly to the equipment in the same room. It allows sites to share expensive specialized equipment between users as needed without having to move the user or the equipment.

The new release enhances the Avocent HMX platform with its complex switching capability, improved switching time and validated security features. Avocent HMX now allows multiple receivers and transmitters to be grouped to facilitate complex switching, such as grouping four or more monitors, or controlling a video wall or ceiling mounted projector remotely. And, with a 60 percent switch-time improvement, switching is now even faster, which significantly improves usability. In addition, the new release enables users to switch quickly between multiple computers with different functionality and security classification levels in a secure and reliable manner. This greatly enhances KVM applications in industries that require the most advanced technologies to ensure information security.

The new release is available as a free firmware upgrade for existing customers with compatible Avocent HMX Managers.

Avocent invented the KVM over IP switch market, and has been awarded more than 158 U.S. patents covering KVM and video compression technologies, said Steve Hassell, president of the Avocent business of Emerson Network Power. The newly released Avocent HMX High Performance KVM switch demonstrates our continuing investment and innovation in KVM, and is the result of ongoing research and development and listening to our customers.
