Financial Services Firms Turn to BUMI and Global Relay for Comprehensive Data Backup, Recovery and Compliance

(PRWEB) October 17, 2011

BUMI (Backup My Info!), the premier provider of online backup and recovery solutions for small to mid-sized businesses, today announced the addition of DH Frederick Securities, Inc. and The Family Wealth Consulting Group (FWCG) to its growing roster of financial services customers. In addition to online data backup and recovery provided by BUMI, these two California-based financial services firms are also utilizing Global Relay for email archiving offering an end-to-end solution to safeguard and ensure compliance of business-critical information.

Like many financial services organizations, DH Frederick Securities, Inc. and FWCG use Global Relay services in order to comply with FINRA regulations for the recordkeeping and supervision of electronic messaging. FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority), which regulates all firms selling securities in the United States, requires its broker-dealers to archive all transactions and inbound, internal and outbound correspondence relating to their business.

Compliance is extremely important, and meeting FINRA requirements does not mean financial services firms data is protected from disaster or other unforeseen events that can cause systemic failure, said Jennifer Walzer, CEO of BUMI. What Global Relay does for email communications, BUMI does for an organizations data, providing a means to backup and restore all types of business-critical information, applications and systems. Financial services firms such as DH Frederick Securities and The Family Wealth Consulting Group are recognizing that while regulatory compliance is compulsory, data protection is essential.

DH Frederick Securities is a licensed broker-dealer that specializes in assisting clients with capital and consulting needs. It is leveraging BUMI to remotely back up all of its operational systems and applications, such as Microsoft Office files. The company also relies on Global Relay to archive all of its email correspondence, keeping them compliant with government regulations.

If you had a virus cause a crash or, in our case, being in California, an earthquake, and all your hardware was destroyed, what would you do? said Dolliver Frederick, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of DH Frederick Securities. For us, in just two phone calls one to Global Relay and the second to BUMI we would have all our email, documents, correspondence and database information, and we would be back up and running. Thats also extraordinarily important from a FINRA and SEC compliance standpoint.

FWCG is a Silicon Valley-based wealth planning firm that manages nearly $ 100 million in assets. Prior to selecting BUMI, FWCG managed backups internally and needed an off-site solution to safeguard its data. Additionally, the firm utilizes Global Relay for email archiving. In the event of an outage, we wanted the capability to recover from a major data loss, said Hilary Martin, Financial Planner at FWCG. With BUMI and Global Relay in place, I feel completely covered, both from a FINRA-compliance and data backup and recovery perspective.

GL Conveys Its Expertise in Testing High Speed Telecom Lines Prior to Turn Up

Gaithersburg, MD (PRWEB) August 11, 2012

GL Communications Inc. a leader in providing PC-based test, analysis and simulation products and consulting services to the worldwide telecommunications industry, conveyed today its expertise in Testing and Verification of High Speed Telecom Lines before they start carrying commercial live traffic.

Speaking to the press, Mr. Vijay Kulkarni, CEO of the company said, These days telecom networks support a number of applications, including voice, data, and video. The underlying technology may be different – such as TDM, ATM, IP, even Wireless. The physical network can be copper, radio/microwave, optical fiber, or satellite. Service providers must thoroughly evaluate their networks to ensure that their availability meets customer expectations. Such an evaluation would often include testing the networks under normal operating conditions as well as testing beyond normal operational environment, often to a breaking point or close to it, called stress testing. Most operators would prefer to stress test their networks and observe their performance to have a level of confidence before putting through commercial traffic.

He added, GL has expertise to test a domestic long distance carrier lines prior to turn up. We develop a test plan covering throughput testing, continuity testing, and stress testing. Our engineers programme test equipment to generate traffic with varying packet sizes and inter-packet gaps. Sending smaller packets with minimal gaps stresses network elements that switch packets and also tests any latency issues. Longer packets, scrambling, and octet stuffing and de-stuffing were also tested. An ideal way to generate the maximum stress on circuits under test is to transmit an IP packet, which has both a random packet size and gap. Internet traffic may, typically, transmit any of the definable packet sizes and gaps. However, in practice, it is more common to see fewer variations in the packet size as more packets are transmitted. GL’s test plans provide a packet stream that closely approximate real life traffic distribution as well as extreme ranges.

Mr. Kulkarni further added, Designing and conducting stress tests are specialty areas that are best handled by experts. Our engineers have extensive experience to perform the entire gamut of testing including – design test plans, write test procedures, conduct tests, and document test results. With extensive experience in telecom testing, GL offers a comprehensive suite of testing services to evaluate complex telecom networks. These services are intended to insure that the performance and reliability of networks are completely understood prior to decisions to start carrying live traffic.

About GL Communications Inc.,

Founded in 1986, GL Communications Inc. Provides technical consulting, engineering and testing services in wireless, telecom, and IT disciplines. Our customers include telecom wireless and landline carriers, mass transit and public safety systems nationwide. We have designed hundreds of wired and wireless telecom network systems over the past 23 years.

GL is a DBE/MBE firm certified by Maryland’s Department of Transportation (MDOT), Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).

GLs TDM Analysis & Emulation line of products includes T1, E1, T3, E3, OC-3, OC-12, STM-1, STM-4, analog four-wire, and analog two-wire interface cards, external portable pods, and complete system solutions. Capabilities include voiceband traffic analysis and emulation across all traffic types (voice, digits, tones, fax, modem), all protocols (ISDN, SS7, GR-303, Frame Relay, HDLC, V5.X, ATM, GSM, GPRS, LTE, etc.), and with capacities up to thousands of channels. Our newest products provide astonishing capacity and capture capability up to and including gigabit speeds.

GLs VoIP and IP products generate / analyze thousands of calls and traffic simultaneously with traffic types such as frames, packets, voice files, digits, video, tones, noise, and fax. Almost all codecs are supported including G.711, G.729, AMR, EVRC-A, B, C, GSM, iSAC, and many more. Additional features include visual analysis, real-time listening, and recording. The product line also includes Ethernet / IP Testing capability that simulates and checks frame transport and throughput parameters of Ethernet and IP networks, including delay, errors and other impairments.

GL’s Voice Quality Testing (VQT) product line complements all of GL’s products. Using ITU-standard algorithms (PAMS, PSQM, and PESQ), GL’s VQT provides a widely accepted solution for assessing voice quality in the telecom industry. Voice Quality Testing across multiple networks (T1, E1, T3, E3, OC-3, OC-12, VoIP, Wireless, and Landline) is available.

GLs Wireless Products perform protocol analysis and voice quality assessment on GSM, CDMA, UMTS, and LTE networks. Connections can be made to any wireless phone with automated call control, GPS mapping and real-time signal measurements.
