iDATAsure.com Provides Backup Servers for Complete Computer Failure - Regardless of Hardware

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) June 24, 2009

iDATAsure.com will release a new version of their software on July 1, 2009 with new features for remote backup servers for business. With the update there will be support of Windows Server 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 as well as System State Backup and Restore (Bare-Metal Recovery).

iDATASure.com now supports Microsoft Windows Server 2008, as well as all other leading operating systems which can run Java2 Runtime Environment 1.4.2 or above, including other versions of:

Windows
Linux
Mac
NetWare
NAS devices
iDATASure Advanced comes with modules specially designed for backing up common database applications, including Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Lotus Notes/Domino, Oracle and MySQL.

The problem that many businesses have is getting backups for cases when there is either no hardware or the hardware cannot be replaced because it is outdated. iDATASure addresses this issue with an easy-to-use offsite data backup system.

“In the case of a total-loss disaster where the existing hardware failed or was no longer available (theft, fire, etc.), a system state backup allows the option of restoring to a new computer with different hardware. The backed up image containing the complete operating system and installed applications with the latest configurations and settings, along with all data, can be restored easily to a new computer.”

StorageCraft ShadowProtect and Windows System Backup allow users to recover data after a disaster. There are a number of products like theirs on the market that help facilitate a bare metal restore. However, both lack the ability to perform remote offsite backup easily and efficiently.

By combining ShadowProtect and Microsoft Windows System Backup with iDATASure’s expertise in automatic remote offsite backup technologies, businesses can perform complete bare-metal system backup. iDATASure.com’s Advanced backup client makes it easy to backup data for better protection no matter what the hardware. A ‘bare metal restore’ is the process of reformatting a computer from scratch. It usually involves reinstalling the operating system and software applications and then attempting to restore the data and settings.

“One of the problems with backups is that they are tied to specific hardware. In the event of a disaster, existing hardware must be replaced with the same make and model. iDATASure.com has now integrated with StorageCraft’s ShadowProtect and Microsoft Windows System Backup to offer automatic remote offsite bare-metal system backup and restore to eliminate this problem.”

Pricing for the ShadowProtect Server Edition 3.3 is $ 899 and ShadowProtect Desktop Edition 3.3 is $ 79.95

All Storage Guardian customers and channel partners are being automatically migrated to this new platform.

Moving to this platform brings several key benefits to companies looking to take advantage of cloud backup and recovery:

Online backup and disaster recovery for virtualized computing environments (Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware ESX).

Built-in data de-duplication and lifecycle management to minimize bandwidth and storage needs.
Agentless software operation that does not require any agents to be purchased or installed on the existing or newly added systems under protection. The software reaches out over the network to perform agentless backup of all leading physical and virtual operating systems, applications, and databases, using industry standard protocols and programming interfaces.

Sharonview Federal Credit Union Gains Disaster Recovery Assurance While Reducing Backup Windows with Unitrends

Columbia, SC (PRWEB) January 26, 2010

Unitrends (unitrends.com), the leader in affordable, heterogeneous D2D (Disk-to-Disk) and D2D2D (Disk-to-Disk-to-Disk)-based data protection backup appliances, today announced that Sharonview Federal Credit Union has recently upgraded to Unitrends latest data protection appliances after successfully relying on Unitrends for more than five years. With its new Unitrends solutions in place, the growing non-profit credit union has cut backup windows in half while assuring disaster recovery preparedness by vaulting its data to an offsite location using Unitrends technology.

Headquartered in Fort Mill, SC, Sharonview Federal Credit Union began as an employer-based credit union in the 1950s. Today, Sharonview is a full-service, not-for-profit financial institution with assets of $ 900 million serving more than 59,000 members with 22 branches in South Carolina, North Carolina and New Jersey.

As it grew, Sharonview was facing a dramatically increasing quantity of data, an expanded network infrastructure, and storage environment complexity. In 2005, Sharonview decided it was time to get away from the credit unions painstaking tape backup process. Sharonviews tape backups were a hassle to manage, requiring manual review of logs to determine whether backup jobs were successful. Whats worse, there was no way to fully recover a failed server, even after extensive investment in a new tape library and new tape backup software.

While seeking a new solution with better speed and reliability for up to 1TB of data, Sharonview also wanted to improve its disaster recovery readiness while also encrypting critical financial data to meet privacy and security requirements. After evaluating its options, Sharonview purchased disk-to-disk data protection units from Unitrends. Following a successful implementation in 2006 and efficient performance results ever since, Sharonview recently upgraded to Unitrends latest technology in 2009 to accommodate their growing data store. Now with three new Unitrends appliances in place, the growing credit union has cut their backup window in half.

We were probably one of the early adopters of Unitrends, said Mark Johnson, CIO, Sharonview Federal Credit Union. Now after five years we are completely satisfied. When it was time to expand after five years, we didn’t even look anywhere else, we were happy with the Unitrends product.

Today, Sharonview uses Unitrends to backup SANs and individual servers and to vault data to another location for disaster recovery assurance. It also uses the Unitrends Baremetal recovery feature for whole system protection, and the included Unitrends Exchange Agent for email protection. Backups are encrypted with InCrypt 256-AES encryption, delivering the integrated security required by this member-focused, and highly successful financial institution.

When we migrated from tape to Unitrends five years ago we cut our backup way down, then cut it in half again when we upgraded to the latest Unitrends hardware earlier this year, said Kevin Hughes, network engineer, Sharonview Federal Credit Union. We invested in a SAN earlier this year, and are now using the Unitrends product to back up individual servers as well as our (new) SAN.

Its always exciting to play a role in the business success of our customers, said Maria Ellison, senior vice president, support, Unitrends. Sharonview Federal Credit Union has been very pleased in their ability to perform individual file recovery in minutes versus hours with Unitrends while receiving both whole system local backups and offsite vaulting at a remote location for complete disaster recovery.

Alan Ritchey, Inc. Relies on Unitrends for Reliable, Easy to Use Backup and Archiving

Columbia, SC (PRWEB) February 16, 2010

Unitrends (http://www.unitrends.com), the leader in affordable, heterogeneous disk-based data protection appliances, today announced that Alan Ritchey, Inc., a diversified manufacturer in northeast Texas, relies on a Unitrends disk-to-disk appliance for reliable, easy-to-use, all-in-one backup and archiving.

Alan Ritchey, Inc. is a transportation, mail delivery and agriculture manufacturer and supplier headquartered in the City of Valley View, in northeast Texas. From its founding in 1964, Alan Ritchey, Inc. has grown to become a highly diversified and successful business with 1,100 employees engaged in agriculture, feed mill, oil field services, manufacturing, and transportation operations.

In 2007, Alan Ritchey, Inc. decided it needed to reduce the risk of lost data or business interruption due to a server crash, database corruption, or site-level disaster. This meant it was time to replace its aging tape-based backup solution that they company was using to backup and store its critical company files. The tape-based system was slow, unreliable and difficult to manage.

When selecting a new data protection solution, the IT staff at Alan Ritchey, Inc. was interested in the ease of use and reliability of disk-based backup solutions. They also wanted to move backup data offsite so that they could assure reliable protection of critical business information in the event of fire or site-level disaster. After seeing the advanced backup and recovery features of Unitrends during a product demo, selecting a Unitrends disk-to-disk appliance was an easy choice.

Our reseller invited us to see a demo of Unitrends, and we were sold, said Brad Hieb, network administrator, Alan Ritchey, Inc. Unitrends quick file restore times are the best feature. Yet, the software maintenance plan is also an advantage. Some companies try to nickel and dime you out of every upgrade, and if you are not comfortable installing it they then charge you support for that too. Unitrends support contract seems to cover it all.

After implementing Unitrends, Alan Ritchey, Inc. now enjoys daily disk-to-disk (D2D) file backups that are much faster and more reliable than what the old tape backup solution provided. The company also performs archiving using the Unitrends solution with archive disks that are rotated offsite, keeping the original backups on the Unitrends appliance for speedy recovery when needed.

Unitrends is pleased to provide Alan Ritchey, Inc. with the data protection solution that lives up to the quality and dependability so critical to their business, said Maria Ellison, senior vice president, support, Unitrends. As a company, we deliver the comprehensive service and support that is not only prompt and reliable but also proactive. With the Unitrends Data Assurance plan, Alan Ritchey benefits from hardware, software and technical support all in one program. Ultimately, we strive to deliver the service and support that stands head and shoulders above the rest.

De-Duplication, Compression and No Double Backups Required: AppAssure Releases the Fastest and Most Scalable Backup & Recovery Solution for Microsoft Hyper-V

Reston, VA (PRWEB) April 7, 2010

AppAssure Software today released version 4.3 of Replay, the award-winning, next generation backup and disaster recovery software solution. Because Replay performs a single application-aware snapshot spanning the entire host machine and an unlimited number of guest machines in a Hyper-V environment, customers experience the fastest backup and restore process of the entire host, individual virtual machines or specific files within virtual machines compared to traditional backup and disaster recovery technologies.

“Other backup and recovery solutions simply didn’t scale as well as AppAssure’s Replay,” said Brendan Hourihan, technology services network engineer at Flagler College in St. Augustine FL. “Before we switched to Replay, we were consuming 9.6TB of backup storage space every two weeks. Now with Replay, we’ve used just over 1.5TB in the same time period, saving 84% storage space due to Replay’s advanced de-duplication and compression. That translated into a savings of several thousand dollars per year to our organization. That’s a very real ROI.”

While there’s undeniable movement away from agent-based backup in virtual machines, people are expanding their view of backup to encompass data protection as a whole, whether that means recovering an individual file or mailbox message, to replicating entire hosts at an disaster recovery site, said Chris Wolf, a senior analyst at the Burton Group.

Because traditional backup and recovery solutions require separate backup and recovery processes for Hyper-V host machines and each individual guest server, restoring a server or the entire environment can take several hours.

In contrast, AppAssures Replay 4 performs a single application-aware snapshot spanning the entire host machine and an unlimited number of guest machines, enabling a much faster backup and restore. In addition, companies can implement Replay 4 on a host machine and all guests through a single license, dramatically reducing backup and recovery costs in Hyper-V environments.

AppAssures approach to backup and disaster recovery of virtual machines running Hyper-V is extremely innovative, said Greg Shields, Founding Partner, Concentrated Technology and Microsoft MVP. Any organization leveraging Microsofts Hyper-V virtualization technology can benefit greatly from implementing Replay 4 as their backup and disaster recovery solution.

Customers using AppAssures Replay in Hyper-V environments experience the following benefits:

Datto Launches "Aurora", the Next Generation Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution

Wilton, CT (PRWEB) June 23, 2010

Datto Inc., a leading provider of hardware-based on and off-site backup and disaster recovery solutions introduces Aurora, the latest innovation in backup and recovery technology. With instant virtual failover abilities on the local appliance and advanced features like data deduplication and simple granular exchange recovery, Aurora redefines business continuity.

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) need an all inclusive backup solution to keep their businesses running. They rely on managed service providers (MSPs) to deliver an effective on and off-site solution. MSPs in turn need a comprehensive backup and recovery solution for their clients that is reliable, affordable, and quickly implementable. Aurora was designed with both SMBs and MSPs in mind. SMBs will appreciate the accessibility and flexibility Aurora provides, as protected files now have greater functionality than ever before. With Aurora, businesses have quick and easy access to data with features such as individual message search and recovery for Microsoft Exchange and granular SharePoint recovery. Incremental backups as frequently as every five minutes ensure that when a data loss occurs, high transaction servers lose very little, if any, data. The instant, one-click virtualization feature can have failed servers and workstations back online quickly and easily, eliminating costly downtime.

Aurora enables MSPs to bring an enterprise class solution to the SMB market. Powerful features that were once sought in separate software and hardware purchases are now implemented in one, easy to use solution. Fully automated on and off-site backup and hardware independent, bare metal restore functionality means that backup and recovery with the Aurora is fast and simple. With additional features such as unattended virtualization and advanced alerting, MSPs can easily support Aurora. When combined with Datto’s 100% US-based technical support, MSPs always have the help they need to keep their clients’ business running. “We wanted a comprehensive solution,” said Datto president, Austin McChord. “Aurora was developed so that our Partners could offer a product that has cutting edge technology, but is still extremely manageable and always reliable.”

Katie Braband, VP of Business Development for Datto, agrees. “Backup and disaster recovery is a key component to our Partners’ managed services offering and we’re excited to bring them this ground-breaking technology. Datto Aurora is the first and only end-to-end solution offering advanced features like instant virtualization and data deduplication in a cost-effective package for SMBs. It aligns perfectly with Datto’s mission to deliver our Partners the best in business continuity.”

Consonus Customer Leaves for Cost, Returns to Remote Backup Service for Technical Support

Cary, NC (Vocus) July 29, 2010

Consonus and channel partner BlueTech IT Solutions will once again provide St. Stephens Episcopal Day School, a private elementary school located in the Coconut Grove area of Miami, with Consonus Remote Backup Service (Consonus RBS), a fully-automated cloud backup solution that is backed by award-winning technical support.

The former Consonus/BlueTech IT customer left for a well-known, inexpensive provider. After less than two months, the provider was unable to successfully back up St. Stephens data. Incomplete backup attempts and poor customer service were the leading factors prompting St. Stephens to return to Consonus and BlueTech IT.

Despite six weeks of efforts, the low-cost provider was never able to successfully back up our 150G of data. We were thrilled to learn that Consonus still had our original data and that we were able to pick up where we left off, said St. Stephens Director of Technology Felix Jacomino. The expertise offered by BlueTech and Consonus is second to none. The team really bailed us out.

Consonus has consistently received praise from customers and channel partners for superior technical support. Consonus staff is among the most highly-credentialed and well-trained in the industry. With team members who average more than 15 years of industry experience, Consonus skilled engineers bring additional value to all IT solutions offered to significantly reduce downtime, boost productivity, and maximize the IT investment.

Often, a low-price provider can cost a company far more than they anticipated saving, said Consonus President Bob McCarthy. When evaluating cost, there are four critical factors to consider: security, resiliency, compliance, and support. If there is a breakdown in any of these key quality points, the cost to the client can be intensive.

Consonus RBS is a unique alternative to traditional data backup recovery methods, replacing conventional solutions with a fully automated online data backup solution. It provides an automatic backup of heterogeneous file servers as well as application and database servers with encrypted, secure offsite data storage and rapid online restoration. Powered by Asigra, the first and only cloud software provider to achieve FIPS 140-2 Certification the highest level of security assurance to date Consonus RBS also offers multi-level security authentication, agentless support for the broadest variety of platforms including Windows, UNIX, AS/400, and Apple, and hot backups for all leading databases and applications.

X-ISS is First to Launch Cutting-Edge, Combined On-Site and Cloud Remote Backup and Recovery System Affordable to Small Businesses in Houston

Houston, TX (PRWEB) July 29, 2010

X-ISS, a leading provider of expert IT support and disaster recovery planning services for small to medium businesses (SMBs) in Greater Houston, has announced the launch of a unique, cost-effective solution that makes data backup and recovery faster, easier and more secure than most systems commonly used. .

The X-ISS back-up and recovery system is the first affordable total solution to be offered to small and medium businesses in the Houston market combining the convenience of local on-site backup with the protection of remote support which utilizes the latest in cloud-based technology. This combined approach overcomes the limitations and hassles commonly associated with other local and remote forms of backup and recovery.

Many small to medium businesses still use tapes for backup that they then store at an off-site location each night, says Deepak Khosla, President of X-ISS. With our new combined system, not only will they be able to eliminate the costs of hardware, labor and storage necessary when using tape based systems, but theyll receive a whole new level of data protection and ease of recovery to which they dont currently have access.

The new X-ISS combined on-site/cloud remote backup solution offers a host of features that are critical to delivering a best in class system for businesses who rely upon their data. These features include automatic backup of all data changes to both local and redundant secure remote devices as often as every fifteen minutes. They also include the ability to easily retrieve previous versions of documents including files that have been deleted, overwritten or corrupted on the local device. In addition, the X-ISS on-site/remote backup system offers hassle-free data recovery, with no complex hardware or software, that allows recovery in minutes of what used to often take hours or days with other types of systems.

One of the systems unique benefits is that if a business is struck by a disaster that destroys their on-site device, they can be operating as normal the next morning with a new, fully operational on-site device containing all of their latest data that’s been delivered to them overnight. For those whose businesses can’t afford even a moment of downtime, the X-ISS backup system offers an optional capability to seamlessly transform into a virtual server with complete capabilities and data integrity while the local server is being restored. “For businesses which currently use web-based remote backup systems, it can take days or weeks to become fully operational again after a major disaster,” says Khosla. “Our new system speeds the recovery time.”

The new X-ISS combined on-site/cloud remote back-up system is completely secure with both encrypted data communication and storage, and includes 24/7 assistance and proactive monitoring by a team of highly experienced technical experts.

Were excited to be able to offer Houston businesses a better backup and recovery solution featuring the latest technology and providing the best in data protection and ease of use, says Khosla. Were particularly proud were able to offer this at a price thats affordable to small businesses, and in many cases at equal to or less than the costs they are investing in inferior backup tapes and other solutions.

United Technology Group Partners with NetApp to Develop Cutting Edge Enterprise-class Backup System for SRP Federal Credit Union

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 9, 2010

United Technology Group (UTG), a trusted provider of IT solutions in the Metro Atlanta area, recently partnered with the leading innovator of storage and virtualization solutions, NetApp, to implement an incredibly successful backup system for SRP Federal Credit Union in North Augusta, South Carolina. Faced with SRP’s unwieldy and fragmented local storage, which was significantly impacting efficiency and risking customer data, UTG set out to plan a new centralized data center and a fully redundant disaster recovery bunker in conjunction with NetApp.

Founded in 1960, the SRP Federal Credit Union has grown to 350 full time employees located at 20 branch offices throughout Georgia and South Carolina. The backup windows of their critical data were quickly growing beyond the acceptable limits. While planning for replication to the disaster recovery facility, there was no clean way to replicate the data with their existing server architecture. Because the SAN solution is so foundational to the entire IT infrastructure, UTG recommended NetApp as the storage vendor based on the vendor’s exceptional engineering and cost-effective value.

UTG helped SRP migrate their current infrastructure to a blade server solution leveraging NetApp unified storage architecture. Once the production environment was running on this new equipment, it was extremely easy to replicate the entire server system to a second NetApp that would be used for disaster recovery in the off-site data center.
