No Limits Software Announces Integration of the Full Line of Eaton Rack PDUs with Their RaMP Data Center Management (DCIM) Solution

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) March 12, 2012

No Limits Software announces integration of the full line of Eaton rack power distribution units (PDUs) with their RaMP data center management solution.

Eaton offers a full line of rack PDUs with network connectivity designed to provide enterprise class distribution, monitoring and control for a data center. The rack PDU is the last link in the power chain, which makes it a strategic point to monitor power usage of the IT load for calculating power usage effectiveness (PUE). Eaton rack PDUs offer the capability to measure outlet-level power usage and report that information to a DCIM software solution.

“Data center managers are increasingly concerned with measuring and reducing power consumption,” said Joe Skorjanec, ePDU product manager, Eaton Distributed Power Solutions. “In addition to providing analytics to maximize capacity and efficiency, No Limits Softwares integration of Eaton PDUs with its RaMP solution adds a visual depiction of power at the rack and data center level.”

Its important for RaMP to be a vendor-neutral management platform for the data center, said Dave Cole, President of No Limits Software. We enjoy working with companies like Eaton because the quality of their products is well known in the industry.

The RaMP DCIM solution provides the following benefits:

Auto-discovery of detailed device information
Power and environmental monitoring down to the device level
Server monitoring to identify servers which should be retired, virtualized or consolidated
Software and operating system license management
Automated change control to reduce MTTR and increase availability
Web services API provides integration with other systems
PUE, DCiE and CADE energy management calculations
More accurate capacity planning data helps to reduce stranded power and shutdown risks
Device type roll-up views provide an easy way to quickly compare device performance
Enhanced rack views (device type, status, power usage, front and rear temperature

Patrick Townsend Security Solutions Announces Encryption Key Management Solution

Olympia, WA (PRWEB) February 25, 2010

Patrick Townsend Security Solutions (PTSS) is addressing one of the fastest growing deficiencies companies encounter in data privacy audits: proper encryption key management. To ease this situation, PTSS has released its new appliance named Alliance Key Manager. Data privacy regulations such as PCI, HIPAA and GLBA require organizations to not only encrypt data but to also securely manage the data encryption keys. Alliance Key Manager helps meet these requirements by providing a robust and extensible key management server built for today’s business environment.

Experts agree that encrypted data is only as secure as the encryption keys. People don’t lock their cars and leave the keys in the door. They lock the door and store the keys away from the vehicle. The same discipline must apply to data encryption keys. Encryption keys must be controlled, stored and secured separately from the data the keys protect. This critical step in the encryption process is too often overlooked due to the perceived complexity of the task.

Alliance Key Manager, from PTSS, is a centrally administered solution for managing and storing symmetric encryption keys. It simplifies encryption key management for the Enterprise. This new appliance racks up in any server environment and services all major business platforms including Linux, UNIX, Windows, IBM System i, and IBM System z. Enterprises that are currently encrypting data, or considering data encryption, will benefit greatly from a federally certified encryption key management solution that is affordably priced.

Patrick Townsend, Founder and CTO commented that, “Even the most diligent enterprises are finding that data gets out in unexpected ways. When you accept that data loss is inevitable, it becomes obvious that strong data protection and proper key management are central to your data security practices. We know that even if you’re encrypting sensitive data, that data is only as secure as the encryption keys, which is precisely why we built the Alliance Key Manager solution.”

Alliance Key Manager is designed for easy integration with all software and hardware systems. Major features include:

NIST-certified: The Alliance Key Manager solution meets the following NIST (National Institute of Standards in Technology) validations: NIST AES (five encryption modes), NIST SHA, NIST RNG, and NIST FIPS-140-2 Level 1. Alliance Key Manager is in process of receiving the FIPS 140-2 certification.

Automation and easy deployment: Alliance Key Manager is a non-intrusive solution that doesn’t require the installation of outside agent software in the Enterprise. Administrators can configure, manage, import, export, create, and expire thousands of keys automatically from a central location.

Control key access: Encryption keys can be regulated so that only the right users have access to the data. Key access can be restricted to a specific list of users, a specific list of groups, or specific users within a group. Distinguished names in security certificates allow the administrator to enforce user and group controls, reducing physical key management time and cost.

Key mirroring and hot back up: Key servers that control access to data must be resilient. Alliance Key Manager automatically mirrors keys between multiple key management appliances over a secure and mutually authenticated SSL/TLS connection. It is an efficient solution for hot backup and disaster recovery support of sensitive encrypted data.

Secure logging: Everything the key server does should be auditable. Alliance Key Manager has built in logging allowing administrators to track all key retrieval, management, and system activity. Reports can be sent automatically to a central log management console, alerting facilities, or to SIEM products for a timely and permanent record of all activity.

Learn more about Alliance Key Manager, and see a live demonstration, at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, booth #755. Or visit patownsend.com to request a demonstration.

About Patrick Townsend Security Solutions:

PTSS makes NIST-certified software and appliance solutions to protect sensitive data from loss, theft and abuse. We know that despite everyone’s best efforts “data gets out.” The best way to deal with that fact is not by simply building a wall around the data, but by protecting against its abuse. To accomplish this the company employs encryption, system logging, and encryption key management for the most effective data protection available. Known as the Encryption Company, PTSS was formed in 1984, and is privately held with headquarters in Olympia, WA. For more information visit http://www.patownsend.com or call 800/357-1019.

De-Duplication, Compression and No Double Backups Required: AppAssure Releases the Fastest and Most Scalable Backup & Recovery Solution for Microsoft Hyper-V

Reston, VA (PRWEB) April 7, 2010

AppAssure Software today released version 4.3 of Replay, the award-winning, next generation backup and disaster recovery software solution. Because Replay performs a single application-aware snapshot spanning the entire host machine and an unlimited number of guest machines in a Hyper-V environment, customers experience the fastest backup and restore process of the entire host, individual virtual machines or specific files within virtual machines compared to traditional backup and disaster recovery technologies.

“Other backup and recovery solutions simply didn’t scale as well as AppAssure’s Replay,” said Brendan Hourihan, technology services network engineer at Flagler College in St. Augustine FL. “Before we switched to Replay, we were consuming 9.6TB of backup storage space every two weeks. Now with Replay, we’ve used just over 1.5TB in the same time period, saving 84% storage space due to Replay’s advanced de-duplication and compression. That translated into a savings of several thousand dollars per year to our organization. That’s a very real ROI.”

While there’s undeniable movement away from agent-based backup in virtual machines, people are expanding their view of backup to encompass data protection as a whole, whether that means recovering an individual file or mailbox message, to replicating entire hosts at an disaster recovery site, said Chris Wolf, a senior analyst at the Burton Group.

Because traditional backup and recovery solutions require separate backup and recovery processes for Hyper-V host machines and each individual guest server, restoring a server or the entire environment can take several hours.

In contrast, AppAssures Replay 4 performs a single application-aware snapshot spanning the entire host machine and an unlimited number of guest machines, enabling a much faster backup and restore. In addition, companies can implement Replay 4 on a host machine and all guests through a single license, dramatically reducing backup and recovery costs in Hyper-V environments.

AppAssures approach to backup and disaster recovery of virtual machines running Hyper-V is extremely innovative, said Greg Shields, Founding Partner, Concentrated Technology and Microsoft MVP. Any organization leveraging Microsofts Hyper-V virtualization technology can benefit greatly from implementing Replay 4 as their backup and disaster recovery solution.

Customers using AppAssures Replay in Hyper-V environments experience the following benefits:

Arbor Networks Introduces New Version of the Peakflow

CHELMSFORD, MA (PRWEB) April 24, 2012

Arbor Networks, Inc., a leading provider of security and network management solutions for enterprise and service provider networks, today announced the availability of version 5.7 of Peakflow SP, the industrys leading network-wide infrastructure security and traffic-monitoring platform.

According to a recent report from Infonetics Research titled DDoS Prevention Appliance Market Outlook, Arbor Networks was cited as the dominant leader for DDoS prevention overall, with a 75.4 percent market share in the carrier transport and wired broadband market segment, versus 8.8 percent for the next competitor.” Arbor quietly took control of the DDoS prevention appliance market over the last ten years, but with the massive increase in volume, size, and mainstream visibility of DDoS attacks, Arbor has emerged as a key security partner for large service providers around the globe, said Jeff Wilson Infonetics Research, Principal Analyst, Security.

The vast majority of the worlds leading service providers rely on Arbors Peakflow SP platform to proactively fend off malicious threats such as botnets and volumetric and application-layer distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, while strengthening the availability and quality of their services. The Peakflow SP platform includes two main components, Peakflow SP and the Threat Management System (TMS). Peakflow SP combines network-wide anomaly detection and traffic engineering with TMSs carrier-class threat management, which automatically detects and surgically removes only attack traffic, while maintaining legitimate business traffic. With the ability to mitigate only the attack traffic, customer-facing services remain available while providers actively mitigate attacks.

New features include the ATLAS Intelligence Feed (AIF), which delivers automated protection from virtually all known botnets, plus a real-time update service that protects customers from new botnets as they emerge. No other product or vendor has this capability. In February, Arbor announced that Japans KDDI, a global provider of fixed-line and mobile communications services, had incorporated AIF functionality into its security service offerings. Additionally, Peakflow SP now delivers an enhanced suite of detection and countermeasures that protect business-critical servers from application-layer attacks caused by malformed and abusive SSL signaling and negotiation, retransmit storms and IPv6 attack vectors.

ATLAS Intelligence Feed

AIF also delivers deep DDoS signatures in real-time to keep networks protected against hundreds of botnet-fueled DDoS attack toolsets and their variants. This unique feed automates the identification of attacks against infrastructure and services from known botnets while ensuring that updates for new threats are automatically delivered without software upgrades. The ATLAS Intelligence Feed enables Peakflow SP customers to directly benefit from the depth and breadth of Arbors research team.

The Arbor Security Engineering & Response Team (ASERT) is a recognized industry expert when it comes to Internet threat analysis. ASERTs primary focus is on botnets, which account for a majority of the DDoS attacks on the Internet today. ASERT has unique visibility into DDoS botnets because of its ATLAS infrastructure, which combines a darknet sensor network with traffic data from more than 100 service provider customers around the world. This enormous dataset enables ASERT to develop a unique, globally-scoped view of malicious traffic traversing backbone networks that form the Internet’s core. This insight is critical, as botnets are constantly changing and updating to thwart detection.

SSL Protocol Attack Protection

Today, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) provides the necessary security and encryption for enterprises and their customers to safeguard sensitive transactions and email over the Internet. As enterprises increasingly rely on SSL for their mission critical communications, it becomes a more significant target for DDoS attacks. To ensure the availability of SSL-powered services, Arbors Peakflow SP now delivers DDoS protections for SSL regardless of the application HTTPS, POP3S, SMTPS, etc. Peakflow SP blocks SSL DDoS attacks with ASERT-designed protections that guard against malformed traffic, attempts to continually renegotiate connections and other advanced attacks that aim to disrupt service availability.

Peakflow SP has dominated the service provider market for a long time because we continue to invest and innovate in the platform, said Colin Doherty, Arbor Networks president. Increasingly, large enterprises, hosting providers and cloud providers are also deploying Peakflow SP because of the advanced, proven DDoS protection the solution provides. Peakflow SP plays a critical role in securing the Internet from availability threats like denial of service attacks. It also provides extremely valuable insight into network traffic with actionable intelligence that provides real value for security, operations and even marketing teams within a provider organization. Peakflow is and will remain a very robust security and traffic management platform.

Datto Inc. Releases a Revolutionary Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution to the Channel

Wilton, CT (Vocus/PRWEB) January 18, 2011

Dattos passion for innovation has once again made its mark on the backup and disaster recovery industry. With the release of Siris, Datto has dramatically simplified the backup process by providing a solution that offers complete end-to-end business continuity. By eliminating the image chain in the backup process, Datto devices can now take information directly from the server to virtual machines, making data recovery both faster and more robust.

Dattos unique process of inverse chain technology prevents the risk of file damage because the base image is always the newest file. This is different from traditional backup where computers must rely on older files to restore newer ones. Dattos new technology ensures that the full image is always at the front of the backup chain, and does not rely on past files for recovery.

Siris is also the only backup device in the Channel that offers instant off-site virtualization. This feature provides rapid restoration, even in the event of a complete facility loss, by allowing companies to completely fail-over to the cloud.

The release of Siris represents a tremendous amount of time and effort from the entire Datto team. Thanks to valuable feedback from our Channel partners, we were able to create a cutting edge product that will change the industry standard for BDR solutions, said Austin McChord, President & CEO.

Siris offers a full spectrum of incredible features that will enable Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Value Added Resellers (VARs) to bring this solution to companies of various sizes. Siris provides unprecedented insight into the backup process by providing screenshots of each backup image. Siris also implements other benefits such as, data deduplication, instant local virtualization, quick setup, and a web interface that is fully managed over the internet. The user has the ability to test virtual machines at any time.

Hosting.com Launches Business Continuity Solution to Guarantee an Always On Infrastructure for Mission-Critical Applications

Denver, CO (PRWEB) February 17, 2011

Hosting.com, the leading provider of cloud hosting and recovery services, today announced the release of its Critical Availability Service (CAS). CAS introduces the hosting industrys most comprehensive application-centric SLA (Service Level Agreement) to ensure the mission-critical applications and infrastructure of Hosting.com clients are secure, cloud-enabled and Always On.

The Critical Availability Service (CAS) has three main components: a high availability infrastructure, Entourage support and the Critical Availability Service SLA. The high availability infrastructure is delivered from one of Hosting.coms geographically-dispersed datacenters and leverages the Hosting.com CAS reference architecture consisting of five managed services: dedicated firewalls, load balancing, backups, advanced monitoring and patching. The combination of the five managed services provides every customer the infrastructure necessary to ensure their applications are always available and Hosting.com guarantees it.

The Critical SLA is unparalleled in the hosting industry because it is based on application availability not component type. Typically, service provider SLAs only reimburse clients for downtime associated with a single component of their solution. The CAS SLA takes it one step further by paying double the normal payout for the entire solution when the application is unavailable. CAS is supported by the Hosting.com Entourage team which is a small group of highly trained and dedicated server engineers assigned to specific customer groups.

Craig McLellan, Hosting.com Chief Technology Officer, added, From years of experience, we know when most companies think of Disaster Recovery they plan for catastrophic disasters (i.e., tornado, earthquake, hurricane) and focus on validating that they could recover. However, companies are more likely to encounter a clinical disaster (i.e., viruses, human error, malicious attack) which can be avoided through availability centric offerings. He continued, Hosting.com tested, validated and has now certified that our CAS configurations will provide a cost-effective business continuity solution to help companies avoid clinical disasters and ensure their mission-critical applications are available 24x7x365.

Hosting.coms CAS configurations are also available in cloud environments. Prestige Financial is a premier provider of consumer financing solutions for franchised automobile dealerships and is recognized throughout the industry for its innovative lending programs.

Email has been long considered the primary communication vehicle in todays business environment. Hosting.coms Intersite Cross Connect Solution Provides Reliable, Secure and Scalable Private Data Transport

Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 17, 2011

Hosting.com, the leading provider of cloud hosting and recovery services, today announced the availability of its Intersite Cross Connect(ICC) solution. Hosting.com developed the ICC solution to support customers with high volume or time-sensitive replication requirements and latency or jitter-sensitive applications.

For many companies, developing infrastructures to have zero downtime is both cost prohibitive and resource restricted; however, business continuity and disaster recovery solutions continue to be listed as one of the highest priorities by IT executives. ICC can help companies meet a critical component of their BCDR plans reliable, private transport between servers and datacenters for continuity and failover purposes. When data moves between Hosting.com datacenters, ICC guarantees the data is secure, the connection is reliable, and the service is fast and scalable.

ICC is ideal for businesses with large-scale replication solutions, data migrations and backups, regulatory requirements, and latency sensitive applications. ICC is a necessity as businesses continue to virtualize and use computing resources in multiple geographic locations.

Gabe Grice, Hosting.com Product Manager, commented, While it is possible to utilize a public internet connection between datacenter locations, the public internet is not as reliable or secure as a private connection. Mission-critical applications and regulated data and storage files should utilize private data transport to eliminate the availability and security risks of being on the public internet.

Hosting.coms unique connectivity between geographically-dispersed datacenters and Cloud Super Sites has made it a destination for companies seeking datacenter interconnectivity and redundant cloud-based solutions. In addition, the ability to quickly scale redundant, always on solutions in as little as 48 hours recently drew a fast-growth, enterprise-lending SaaS provider to Hosting.com. This companys cloud solution is widely used by mortgage banks, lenders and service providers and utilizes the ICC service to connect their database servers between two Hosting.com Cloud Super Sites. The secure and reliable ICC solution guarantees they can quickly add new customers and that their customers can access their mission-critical SaaS application at all times.

Darrell Hyde, Hosting.com Director of Network Security and Engineering, added, ICC is based on a feature called MPLS Circuit Cross Connect that is supported on our Juniper EX series switches. In essence, the Circuit Cross Connect emulates a traditional leased line service like a T1 or DS3 with a fraction of the provisioning time, and far more flexible capacity. Whereas traditional telco services can take 30-45 days for provisioning, Hosting.com can provision new ICC services and adjust capacity on existing ICC installations in as little as 48 hours.

Hosting.com recently released the 2011 Cloud Trends Report and Best Practices Report which indicated BCDR is driving explosive growth in cloud computing during the next 18 months. Download the Report to access valuable insight into the cloud marketplace including consumer expectations of Cloud Computing, intended uses, obstacles, and expected timeframes for implementing cloud-based solutions.

DynaSis Launches Cloud-Based Productivity Solution for SOHO Market

Roswell, GA (PRWEB) March 30, 2011

DynaSis, Atlanta’s premier provider of IT services and support for small and medium businesses (SMBs), announced today the launch of ITility Essentials, a cloud-based productivity solution for businesses with fewer than 15 employees. ITility Essentials allows small businesses to move their data and applications into the cloud so they can conveniently access them from their desktop, laptop, home or office location – essentially wherever they may choose to perform their work.

“The increased visibility of cloud-based solutions is stimulating demand for the cloud yet many business owners don’t fully understand what they want, what they are getting or what the cloud can do for them,” states Dave Moorman, president of DynaSis. “With ITility Essentials we’re introducing a reliable platform that delivers the information and applications businesses use most: Microsoft Office and Microsoft Exchange plus standard line of business applications.”

ITility Essentials provides increased reliability for the small office/home office (SOHO) business by removing dependence on sometimes temperamental desktop hardware and poorly maintained servers housed in a shared storage closet or basement office. Instead, ITility Essentials is built on a Windows Terminal Services platform to give users access to their applications and data – in the cloud – from a web browser window on any Windows-based device.

ITility Essentials includes 4 hours of monthly helpdesk support. Users call one number for technical support on all of their IT infrastructure if service interruptions or technical complications occur. The SOHO audience also gains enterprise mobility, quality backup and disaster recovery baked right into the solution.

“With ITility Essentials, we’re offering the kind of reliable backup and disaster recovery that is often needed but not secured by the SOHO market,” continues Moorman. “In so doing we’re able to help prevent the SOHO from becoming another statistic of business failure after unrecoverable data loss.”
