Horizon Data Center Solutions Launches Secure Cloud Computing Platform Called FlexSafe Cloud, Expanding their Infrastructure as a Service Business

Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) September 14, 2009

Horizon Data Center Solutions, a leading data center and IT flexsourcing firm serving businesses and government agencies with colocation, disaster recovery and managed IT services, has launched its cloud computing solution, called FlexSafe Cloud.

FlexSafe Cloud is a private, secure approach to cloud computing that meets the needs of organizations that want the flexibility, scalability and cost savings of virtualization, but that also require the security of a private computing platform.

FlexSafe Cloud is part of Horizon’s strategy to fill a gap in the marketplace by providing flexible, full-service IT outsourcing options that can serve the enterprise client as well as small and medium sized businesses. The company pioneered the concept with its DCFlexSpace colocation model and has continued to expand available IT services to meet client demand.

Horizon says the FlexSafe Cloud delivers immediate benefits for Software as a Service (SaaS) companies, e-commerce businesses with applications that experience fluctuating transaction volumes, financial firms, government agencies, and other entities that want the greater efficiencies and cost savings of virtualization without giving up security.

Chuck Smith, Executive Vice President with Horizon and the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, says that, while the industry debates the actual definition of cloud computing, Horizon has adopted the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) working definition, with its key characteristics of on-demand self-service, ubiquitous network access, ability to rapidly scale resources and pay on a measured-usage basis.

“Our growing list of federal clients made it a logical decision to adopt the NIST working definition of the cloud,” says Smith.

Smith says the FlexSafe Cloud is highly scalable and based upon Horizon’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering. Beginning with Tier III data centers, the Horizon IaaS solution is built on leading edge technology providers like Above Net, Cisco, F5 Networks and HP. The FlexSafe Cloud service is virtualized using VMware, and provides the High Availability (HA) performance and security levels required by enterprise data center customers. HDCS currently has two DFW area data centers, providing fast, reliable data backup and replication solutions.

“We believe that the large public cloud providers like Amazon and Google have done an excellent job of supporting the testing and development world, so there’s no need for us to pursue the public cloud. For government and enterprise clients, private clouds are where we can add significant value,” Smith says. The company will also offer community cloud solutions for entities with multiple businesses.

Horizon CEO, Lance A. Smith adds, “Our current clients appreciate our highly secure, reliable data center infrastructure and have asked us to provide this service. We are pleased to extend our relationships with them, while at the same time offering an option that represents our continued charge to fill the gap in the IT outsourcing market between the very large, global IT outsourcing companies and traditional hosting companies. With the FlexSafe Cloud option, the latest development in our fast-paced growth strategy, Horizon continues to be among the leaders in the data center market.”

For more information, contact Chuck Smith, Chief Marketing Officer, at 214 556 4138 or Connie Holubar at 903 880 8217. Corporate offices for Horizon can be reached at 972 509 0110.

Arbor Networks Introduces New Version of the Peakflow

CHELMSFORD, MA (PRWEB) April 24, 2012

Arbor Networks, Inc., a leading provider of security and network management solutions for enterprise and service provider networks, today announced the availability of version 5.7 of Peakflow SP, the industrys leading network-wide infrastructure security and traffic-monitoring platform.

According to a recent report from Infonetics Research titled DDoS Prevention Appliance Market Outlook, Arbor Networks was cited as the dominant leader for DDoS prevention overall, with a 75.4 percent market share in the carrier transport and wired broadband market segment, versus 8.8 percent for the next competitor.” Arbor quietly took control of the DDoS prevention appliance market over the last ten years, but with the massive increase in volume, size, and mainstream visibility of DDoS attacks, Arbor has emerged as a key security partner for large service providers around the globe, said Jeff Wilson Infonetics Research, Principal Analyst, Security.

The vast majority of the worlds leading service providers rely on Arbors Peakflow SP platform to proactively fend off malicious threats such as botnets and volumetric and application-layer distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, while strengthening the availability and quality of their services. The Peakflow SP platform includes two main components, Peakflow SP and the Threat Management System (TMS). Peakflow SP combines network-wide anomaly detection and traffic engineering with TMSs carrier-class threat management, which automatically detects and surgically removes only attack traffic, while maintaining legitimate business traffic. With the ability to mitigate only the attack traffic, customer-facing services remain available while providers actively mitigate attacks.

New features include the ATLAS Intelligence Feed (AIF), which delivers automated protection from virtually all known botnets, plus a real-time update service that protects customers from new botnets as they emerge. No other product or vendor has this capability. In February, Arbor announced that Japans KDDI, a global provider of fixed-line and mobile communications services, had incorporated AIF functionality into its security service offerings. Additionally, Peakflow SP now delivers an enhanced suite of detection and countermeasures that protect business-critical servers from application-layer attacks caused by malformed and abusive SSL signaling and negotiation, retransmit storms and IPv6 attack vectors.

ATLAS Intelligence Feed

AIF also delivers deep DDoS signatures in real-time to keep networks protected against hundreds of botnet-fueled DDoS attack toolsets and their variants. This unique feed automates the identification of attacks against infrastructure and services from known botnets while ensuring that updates for new threats are automatically delivered without software upgrades. The ATLAS Intelligence Feed enables Peakflow SP customers to directly benefit from the depth and breadth of Arbors research team.

The Arbor Security Engineering & Response Team (ASERT) is a recognized industry expert when it comes to Internet threat analysis. ASERTs primary focus is on botnets, which account for a majority of the DDoS attacks on the Internet today. ASERT has unique visibility into DDoS botnets because of its ATLAS infrastructure, which combines a darknet sensor network with traffic data from more than 100 service provider customers around the world. This enormous dataset enables ASERT to develop a unique, globally-scoped view of malicious traffic traversing backbone networks that form the Internet’s core. This insight is critical, as botnets are constantly changing and updating to thwart detection.

SSL Protocol Attack Protection

Today, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) provides the necessary security and encryption for enterprises and their customers to safeguard sensitive transactions and email over the Internet. As enterprises increasingly rely on SSL for their mission critical communications, it becomes a more significant target for DDoS attacks. To ensure the availability of SSL-powered services, Arbors Peakflow SP now delivers DDoS protections for SSL regardless of the application HTTPS, POP3S, SMTPS, etc. Peakflow SP blocks SSL DDoS attacks with ASERT-designed protections that guard against malformed traffic, attempts to continually renegotiate connections and other advanced attacks that aim to disrupt service availability.

Peakflow SP has dominated the service provider market for a long time because we continue to invest and innovate in the platform, said Colin Doherty, Arbor Networks president. Increasingly, large enterprises, hosting providers and cloud providers are also deploying Peakflow SP because of the advanced, proven DDoS protection the solution provides. Peakflow SP plays a critical role in securing the Internet from availability threats like denial of service attacks. It also provides extremely valuable insight into network traffic with actionable intelligence that provides real value for security, operations and even marketing teams within a provider organization. Peakflow is and will remain a very robust security and traffic management platform.

Hosting.com Launches Business Continuity Solution to Guarantee an Always On Infrastructure for Mission-Critical Applications

Denver, CO (PRWEB) February 17, 2011

Hosting.com, the leading provider of cloud hosting and recovery services, today announced the release of its Critical Availability Service (CAS). CAS introduces the hosting industrys most comprehensive application-centric SLA (Service Level Agreement) to ensure the mission-critical applications and infrastructure of Hosting.com clients are secure, cloud-enabled and Always On.

The Critical Availability Service (CAS) has three main components: a high availability infrastructure, Entourage support and the Critical Availability Service SLA. The high availability infrastructure is delivered from one of Hosting.coms geographically-dispersed datacenters and leverages the Hosting.com CAS reference architecture consisting of five managed services: dedicated firewalls, load balancing, backups, advanced monitoring and patching. The combination of the five managed services provides every customer the infrastructure necessary to ensure their applications are always available and Hosting.com guarantees it.

The Critical SLA is unparalleled in the hosting industry because it is based on application availability not component type. Typically, service provider SLAs only reimburse clients for downtime associated with a single component of their solution. The CAS SLA takes it one step further by paying double the normal payout for the entire solution when the application is unavailable. CAS is supported by the Hosting.com Entourage team which is a small group of highly trained and dedicated server engineers assigned to specific customer groups.

Craig McLellan, Hosting.com Chief Technology Officer, added, From years of experience, we know when most companies think of Disaster Recovery they plan for catastrophic disasters (i.e., tornado, earthquake, hurricane) and focus on validating that they could recover. However, companies are more likely to encounter a clinical disaster (i.e., viruses, human error, malicious attack) which can be avoided through availability centric offerings. He continued, Hosting.com tested, validated and has now certified that our CAS configurations will provide a cost-effective business continuity solution to help companies avoid clinical disasters and ensure their mission-critical applications are available 24x7x365.

Hosting.coms CAS configurations are also available in cloud environments. Hosting.coms recently released 2011 Cloud Trends and Best Practices Report revealed that 43% of companies will turn to cloud infrastructure to gain access to more robust high availability and recovery services. In addition, the report revealed that the number of companies implementing cloud to complement their BCDR strategy will grow by 5x over the next 18 months.

John Morency, Research Vice President of Systems, Security & Risk for Gartner Research, commented, Having a continuously available IT infrastructure is a fundamental prerequisite for sustainable business resiliency. Recovery-in-the-Cloud services have the potential for making the delivery of highly available IT services achievable for a large number of businesses, many of whom could not afford to do so using more traditional infrastructure- and service-based approaches.

Join Hosting.com on March 3, 2010 for the 2011 Cloud Trends and Best Practices Webinar to learn how SaaS organizations and those pursuing SaaS solutions have implemented high availability for their mission-critical business applications.

Private Cloud Hosting Provider ScaleMatrix Selects Arbor Networks Peakflow

Chelmsford, MA (PRWEB) May 09, 2012

Arbor Networks, Inc., a leading provider of security and network management solutions for enterprise and service provider networks, today announced that ScaleMatrix, a global leader in Private Cloud Hosting and Colocation, has selected Arbors Peakflow SP platform, the industrys leading network-wide infrastructure security and traffic-monitoring platform.

According to a recent report from Infonetics Research titled DDoS Prevention Appliance Market Outlook, Arbor Networks was cited as the dominant leader for DDoS prevention overall, with a 75.4% market share in the carrier transport and wired broadband market segment, versus 8.8% for the next competitor.

Headquartered in San Diego, CA, ScaleMatrix is a rapidly growing provider of colocation, managed services and private cloud hosting solutions. Customers include leading finance, healthcare, and gaming organizations. Arbor Networks works with hosting providers around the world and understands that the issue of availability is paramount. Hosting providers often have a higher risk of DDoS attacks than other online businesses because hosting providers, in effect, aggregate the risk of all their customers. An attack on one customer can affect others and potentially the entire hosting operation because of the heavy reliance on shared infrastructure. The overall impact of a DDoS attack is a function of the time it takes to detect the attack, the time needed to mitigate it and the extent of service degradation both before and after mitigation.

Security concerns are the number one impediment to businesses looking to leverage the benefits of hosted infrastructure. Companies need absolute confidence that data and applications are going to be secure and available, always. To make that happen for our customers, we have turned to the world leader in availability protection, Arbor Networks, said Mark Ortenzi, ScaleMatrix chief executive officer.

ScaleMatrix is a rapidly growing, innovative provider of a wide variety of services, from colocation to VPN to Infrastructure, Software, Platform and Compliance as a Service. Underpinning all of these is availability. These services must be available on demand. Arbor Networks has been focused on the denial-of service issue for more than a decade. Arbors Peakflow SP platform provides availability protection for the vast majority of the worlds service and hosting providers in operation today, said Colin Doherty, Arbor Networks president.

Integrated DDoS Detection & Mitigation

ScaleMatrixs deployment of the Peakflow SP platform ensures that DDoS attacks are identified and mitigated before they get to customer premises. ScaleMatrix is using Arbors Peakflow SP platform to monitor customer access points at the edge of their infrastructure, in addition to constantly monitoring the entire Internet, looking for attacks that could disrupt or impact the availability of customer services. When Peakflow SP identifies an attack, customer traffic is diverted to the Arbor Threat Management System where it is scrubbed, and attack traffic surgically removed, while legitimate business traffic is passed through to the customer. Arbor is delivering an integrated solution that identifies and surgically removes network and application-layer attacks without interrupting the flow of legitimate traffic. This means that customer-facing services remain available while ScaleMatrix actively mitigates attacks.

Leading IT Infrastructure solutions provider C4L Commences Phase Two of Bournemouth data centre

(PRWEB) October 18, 2011

C4L, a UK-based IT infrastructure solutions provider, is pleased to announce it has commenced the build of phase two at its Bournemouth data centre. The facility is being built to a Tier 2+ specification, and once complete will be one of the largest data centres in the South West. The expansion of the Bournemouth data centre will provide an additional 120 racks / 3,000 square feet of space, increasing capacity by two-thirds.

Internet infrastructure is becoming increasingly important as more and more organisations become heavily reliant on online services and connectivity in order to run their business, said Matt Hawkins, managing director of C4L. With the adoption of cloud computing increasing and more and more applications and services being delivered away from organisations own premises, we experienced a high level of demand for phase one of the Bournemouth data centre. So much so that the site reached full capacity within the first six months of it opening. The high level of demand for colocation space at the Bournemouth facility has prompted us to commence phase two of the build earlier than anticipated. The facility benefits from exceptionally low latency and excellent resilience as it’s connected to our private network, making it an ideal outside of London colocation facility. The Bournemouth data centre is being built to Tier 2+ specifications and at this site we can offer a wide range of IT services.

Phase two of the Bournemouth data centre will feature N+1 redundancy on power and cooling, as well as backup generators which will take the full load of the building should a mains power failure occur. At the facility, Riello will provide high energy efficiency via uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems, whilst Airedale is to provide the sites cooling systems. Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) supplies full smoke, fire detection and fire suppression systems. The buildings air conditioning will use direct expansion based cooling technology coupled with C4L’s cold aisle cooling practises to ensure maximum efficiency.

C4Ls Bournemouth data centre will have the latest advanced triple level security features, including a biometric entry system with a man trap, as well as pin code swipe cards and full 24/7 digital CCTV. The Bournemouth data centre, once completed, will be able to offer colocation space; including quarter, half and full racks up to 32 Amp dual feeds as standard. The Bournemouth data centre will also benefit from high levels of monitoring on power and cooling, ensuring maximum resilience at the site.

C4L is a data centre, internet and connectivity services provider. As well as owning a high speed fibre network, C4L has a presence in over 40 data centres across the UK and Europe. iland Cloud Infrastructure Selected by Multiple Organizations in Recent Weeks

Houston, Texas (PRWEB) November 10, 2011

iland, the global cloud infrastructure provider and VMware Service Provider Partner of the Year for Americas today announced that multiple customers worldwide have selected iland for their cloud infrastructure needs over the past few weeks. The recent additions include companies from an array of industries including aviation, entertainment, facilities/property management, software development, real estate brokers and more.

Rob Davis, Director of IT at Texas-based Atlantic Aviation credits the value of ilands cloud services as one of the primary factors in selecting iland. He stated, iland was able to offer a cloud based DR solution at a price point that just makes sense. Our team can now be focused on recovery process and annual tests without the constant concern of our primary datacenter outgrowing our recovery site. We know we have the needed resources to keep our company running. Atlantic Aviation will be deploying ilands Disaster Recovery solution using the iland Continuity Cloud.

iland pioneered solutions for data replication and business continuity to a true VMware-based cloud environment. iland employs a unique implementation methodology for each customers DR plan because no two plans are the same. The companys methodology comprises a process that clearly documents, implements and manages an evergreen Recovery Action Plan (RAPTM) for each customer. Since its inception 15 years ago, iland has become expert in cloud infrastructure based on VMwares platforms.

Sofun Gaming based in Paris, France has deployed the iland Cloud environment for enterprise production. Julien Anguenot, CIO said Everything has worked flawlessly since the initial deployment. It has been audited successfully and our gaming platform has been running in ilands London datacenter for a few weeks. Everything is just working perfectly.

Sofun Gaming needed a scalable solution that could manage an enormous increase in demand which in turn is driven by a substantial increase in users at weekends. Additionally, specific events in the news or tournaments can dynamically raise the demand for short periods of time. It also needs to comply with stringent gaming regulations so it has to be able to track all activity securely.

Looping.com is using iland Cloud Services solution to scale for growth in North America. According to Dani Alyamour, President of Imovation, We selected iland because their price point and performance met our needs. We will be able to scale our growth in a cost-effective and efficient manner and look forward to continue working with iland in the future.

DataLine LLC is based in Moscow, Russia. The company was founded in 2007 and is a specialist provider of IT outsourcing services in Moscow. It is using iland Cloud Services based out of the London datacenter for its exchange production environment and is delighted with the results. Gregory Atrepyev, Chief Production Officer commented We selected iland for three primary reasons it offered the full range of services we needed for our specific business; the professionalism of the team from sales to deployment that ensured a smooth process from start to finish and the excellent and fast customer service we received. Everything is running smoothly and we couldnt be happier!

John Manulis, CEO of ScreenSpaces, a technology and social marketing company that specializes in the aggregation, sharing and monetization of online content says that they selected iland for three primary reasons: iland was strongly recommended by several of our peers; the pricing we were offered was very attractive and the staff members during the sales process were helpful and patient throughout. Were using iland Managed Resource Cloud with a combination of Tier 3 and Tier 4 storage as well as remote snapshot backup. Were very happy with our choice and are looking forward to a long and productive partnership.

We are seeing a marked increase in the number of customers selecting and implementing an iland Cloud environment for a variety of applications. As cloud technology moves further into the mainstream, our customers experience real value in terms of attaining a highly available enterprise IT infrastructure with lower and flexible pricing, speed to market, control and scalability. iland continues to be focused on meeting their needs and bringing new and innovative solutions to the global market commented Brian Ussher, iland President.

dck worldwide Looks to Ascent Data for Primary Colocation and Data Security of its IT Infrastructure

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) April 10, 2012

dck worldwide, a global construction company with offices in Hawaii, Guam and the Caribbean, has relocated to new corporate headquarters in downtown Pittsburgh. As part of its relocation to PPG Place, dck worldwide made the decision to colocate its IT infrastructure in Ascent Datas SSAE 16 Compliant data center.

dck worldwide previously hosted their IT infrastructure in-house in a server room. The relocation provided an opportunity to evaluate alternative IT solutions, like virtualization and colocation, to achieve greater data security and redundancy, said Linda Cwynar, director of IT at dck worldwide.

dck worldwide weighed the risks associated with housing their business critical data at their new office and concluded that even with their core expertise in construction, the scale of their needs and the capital expenditure to build a secure data facility with proper fire suppression, redundant UPS and HVAC, access control, and video surveillance was not a cost-effective solution.

After speaking with other Ascent Data clients we found a common theme of customized solutions and personalized service. Our operation is global and our data is complex. Keeping our IT infrastructure up and running is critical to the successful, timely completion of projects around the world. Knowing that Ascent Datas Network Operations Center is staffed around-the-clock provides peace of mind and allows me to focus on enhancing the technology of our business, said Cwynar.

Working with an innovative leader in global construction is a privilege and we are pleased to have been selected by dck worldwide. There is no greater compliment than the endorsement of your clients, which was a key factor in dck worldwides decision after considering a number of alternatives. Its particularly rewarding to have been chosen by an organization that has so much internal expertise as it relates to facility construction, security and resilience. Ascent Data is poised to provide services that exceed dck worldwides expectations, said Steve Shangold, CEO at Ascent Data.

Dedicated Web Server Provider Adds Windows Server Infrastructure In New Data Center

(PRWEB) September 26, 2012

Tom Beck, the CTO of ProlimeHost, today announced the completion of the first phase of integration of their dedicated web servers with Microsoft Windows in their new data center in South Bend, Indiana. The announcement was made earlier today by Beck in a short and quick press conference.

The eminent web hosting organization had announced the commencement of their new data center in South Bend, Indiana in an earlier press conference last week. This is the third data center of ProlimeHost in the USA, and the first one in the northern parts of USA. This new data center will bolster the two already-existing centers located in the southern city of Dallas and the south-western city of Phoenix respectively.

We have kept our promise to our customers of integrating our new data center with Windows based dedicated web servers in less than two weeks, Beck mentioned in the brief press meet. Our engineers worked hard over the days and nights and it took us just over a week for rolling out the first phase. It is a pleasure to have our Windows based dedicated web servers in this state-of-the-art establishment. We are planning to have a second phase of rollout for Windows based dedicated servers in the subsequent phase, if the customer demand converts to uptake of these servers in the current phase. The current plan, though, is to monitor the operations carefully and ensure that our new Windows customers operating out of this data center receive the maximum possible asset leverage.

After a productive July and August, the month of September has also seen ProlimeHost ( Visit Us ) venture into multiple strategic move leading to business growth. Their recently launched data center boasts of stellar hardware infrastructure including a gigabit LAN and multi-network external optical fibers.

It is interesting to note that the optical fiber technology is used to transfer Internet-scale data using deep undersea cables to connect other continents like Europe, Australia and Asia to the USA While a web hosting company having an infrastructure with OC-X cables it not unheard of, but only a few among many providers are technically equipped to this level. We are fortunate that we can provide such robust infrastructure to those who trust to buy dedicates server services from Prolime, Beck said in his short press interview.

Just like the Linux servers, the Windows based servers will also be operated only by employees with strict background checks and digital key based encrypted access cards. Apart from physical security, the data center is also protected from external disturbances such as power failures, with 24X7 diesel generator based power backup.

The new dedicated web servers running Windows have already been fully integrated with the popular commercial web hosting automation program, Plesk, as per the company reports.
