Scala Introduces Advanced Analytics that Helps Retailers be Bold with Big Data to Boost Sales

Exton, PA (PRWEB) March 05, 2012

Scala, Inc. today unveiled Scala Advanced Analytics, a cloud computing-based predictive analytics application for retailers which transforms market data and live third-party data streams into marketing messages that positively impact buying behavior. Advanced Analytics helps retailers know what their customers want to buy before the customers do and encourages them to make purchases through point-of-sale digital signage.

Scala Advanced Analytics capabilities enable retailers to leverage data they already own to predict and deliver optimum sales messages to in-store customers with digital signage.

Scala Advanced Analytics is a game-changing application for retailers, said Tom Nix, Scala CEO. Powerful Scala digital display content driven by Advanced Analytics can grab customers attention, engage them with immediacy and interactivity, and present customers multiple streams of relevant information on one or a series of displays. Advanced Analytics constantly monitors data to suggest changes to messages to match business rules and conditions and even the individual customer in front of the screen.

As consumers have more and more information access points, automated multichannel marketing becomes critical, said Steven Keith Platt, Director of The Platt Retail Institute. Cross-channel consumers have been found to be 33.4 percent more valuable to retailers. To implement this requires a streamlined, Big Data management systemization.

Retailers can be Bold with Big Data

Scala Advanced Analytics can digest millions of data records on sales, products, customer habits, trends, pricing changes, weather, time of day, day of week, season of the year and much more. Then, the application uses predictive analytics to determine the probability of what might happen next in a retail environment based on a retailers business rules and goals.

Advanced Analytics spells out to the retailer the best course of action with digital signage content to achieve the preferred sales outcome. The application has an automated machine-learning feedback loop that continues to learn about the retailers business and customers to optimize business decisions so the application constantly improves its recommendations.

With Advanced Analytics and Scala digital communication software, a retailer can create automated, data-driven messaging for point-of-sales signage according to its own pre-defined goals such as:

VKernel Introduces End-to-End Virtualization Management with Unified vOperations Suite

Andover, MA (PRWEB) March 06, 2012

VKernel, a subsidiary of Quest Software and the award-winning provider of enterprise-class performance and capacity management products for virtualized data centers and cloud environments, announced today the expansion of its award-winning vOperations Suite TM(also referred to as vOPS). Now available as part of the vOperations Suite are products from VKernels parent company, Quest Software. The enhanced vOPS product suite offers a single solution for VM administrators to manage all infrastructure areas related to their virtualized data centers and cloud environments. Specifically, the unified vOperations Suite extends monitoring capabilities to other hardware areas and layers of the infrastructure including the storage area network (SAN), the guest OS inside a VM and physical servers that have not been virtualized. This unified offering bolsters Quest Softwares position as the leading independent virtualization management company.

Virtualization administrators have long searched for a data center management system to gain visibility across the many layers that make up a virtualized environment: from storage array to guest OS. Previous attempts to gain this holistic visibility have either required multiple vendors, or have involved complex large-scale management platforms that are time consuming and not cost efficient. The enhanced vOPS product line provides VM administrators with an out-of-the-box solution to monitor, capacity plan, chargeback, report on and optimize their entire virtual environment that can be set up in minutes.

Virtualized environments are complex, multi-tiered systems made up of several hardware components and abstraction layers, says Bernd Harzog, The Virtualization Practice. Because resource usage is interconnected, a failure at any point in the infrastructure can cause issues in other areas. The only way to pinpoint where an issue is originating is to have visibility into every infrastructure area that constitutes the virtualized environment.

The new vOperations Suite is built around two broad product lines: vOPS Server and vOPS Storage.

vOPS Server focuses on server management with three editions:

Explorer (Free) Designed to assess the health of a virtualized environment, the Explorer Edition immediately identifies VMs, hosts and datastores that are suffering performance, capacity and efficiency issues. Users can upgrade to a free trial of the Standard Edition to remediate any issues identified with the click of a button.

Standard ($ 549/socket) An easy to install, rapid time to value application that works out-of-the-box to provide virtual server performance analysis, capacity management, optimization and chargeback. vOPS Server Standard Edition(formerly VKernel vOPS) will detect issues in VMs, identify root cause and provide remediation steps that can be automatically implemented.

Enterprise ($ 799/socket) Adds the former Quest Software vFoglight product on to the Standard Edition. Enterprise allows data centers to extend near real-time monitoring into applications such as SQL Server and Microsoft Exchange, the guest OS and non-virtualized servers. The Enterprise edition is vastly scalable and can manage tens of thousands of VMs in a single pane of glass that includes highly configurable dashboards and environment characteristics.

vOPS Storage focuses on storage management with two editions:

Monitor ($ 499/socket) – For VM administrators who require deep visibility into the SAN or are also the storage administrators, vOPS Storage Monitor visualizes the topology from VM to disk. Formerly vFoglight Storage, this solution displays the SAN and the interconnection between various components highlighting where issues are present and the root causes to the problems.

vOptimizer ($ 299/socket) The former Quest Software vOptimizer Pro detects VMs that are running out of disk space, are over-allocated in storage or have misaligned disk block partitions. All of these issues can then be instantly remediated with automation capabilities.

The new vOPS product family provides unparalleled visibility into both non-virtualized and virtual environments, said Bryan Semple, CMO, VKernel. Combining market leading products from our parent company, Quest Software, with VKernels award-winning vOperations Suite allows both companies to provide virtual administrators the ability to proactively manage their entire virtualized environment at a price point that wont break the budget.

Quest Softwares acquisition of VKernel is a win-win for all our customers, said Shayne Higdon, SVP & GM, User Workspace Management and Monitoring, Quest Software. VKernel is a pioneer in offering solutions that allow virtualization administrators to ensure performance and balance costs in their virtualized network environments. The enhanced vOperations Suite will help these customers vastly simplify their day-to-day operations and bolster the support that Quest Software can offer a data center.

General Availability

The new vOPS product family is available now for a 30-day trial download from http://www.vkernel.com/download. vOPS products are available from http://www.vkernel.com and Quest partners worldwide.

About VKernel

VKernel, an independent subsidiary of Quest Software (NASDAQ: QSFT), is the number one provider of virtualization management products for virtualized data centers and cloud environments. Webair Introduces Customized Disaster Recovery Solutions

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 26, 2009

Webair (http://www.webair.com), a global leader in managed hosting services, announced the offering of customized disaster recovery plans including remote location website failover, offsite backups, disaster recovery seats and providing emergency office space that is completely outfitted and ready for immediate use in the event of a disaster.

“Having a concrete disaster recovery plan in place is a vital part of every company’s business model in today’s market place,” says Sagi Brody, CTO of Webair. “With our multiple datacenter locations, disaster recovery seats and Webair Cloud Storage, existing clients as well as those that host elsewhere can benefit by leveraging our wide range of services.”

By creating a mirrored setup of existing infrastructure regardless of current location, the client now has the ability to instantly and automatically handle all traffic should the primary site go down without requiring IP or DNS changes.

Brody went on to say that “by offering unlimited storage, clients only have to worry about upgrading capacity on their production infrastructure as capacity needs grow. They no longer have to do ‘double upgrades’ by upgrading backup resources. Webair’s Cloud storage will automatically grow with the user’s primary infrastructure and no upgrades are required thus making it easier to manage”.

“Instead of having an exact duplicate server for the purpose of failover, added Brody, clients can now use the Webair Cloud VPS Service as a backup to physical servers. This greatly decreases the cost of a failover server that is only used when the primary server goes down. It also allows for storage to grow as the primary server’s storage needs grow, eliminating the need for upgrades.”

Data is an irreplaceable asset; Webair helps their clients pinpoint the potential risks and provides a customized solution to meet each of their unique requirements. Webair has brought together many of its product offerings to create custom failover solutions to ensure peace of mind to all types of businesses based on their individual requirements.

SmartPick Backup Introduces Backup Appliances for Offsite Backup of Exchange Server data

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2010

SmartPick Backup, a San Jose, California based provider of data backup appliances and services, announced the release of version 2 of their SmartFiler Appliances that enable automatic offsite data backup of Exchange Server data. Version 2 integrates SmartFiler Appliances with Symantecs Backup Exec System Recovery product to enable offsite data backup of Exchange data without tapes.

The unique aspect of the SmartFiler Backup Appliance solution is that it allows customers to own their offsite backup solution, free of monthly service charges. The initial version, introduced earlier this year has been very successful in the SMB market place for backing up file system data from servers and desktops in a heterogeneous network.

We are excited about our new solution that enables small and medium businesses to backup their Exchange data offsite without any manual intervention; a perfect solution to backup and restore entire Exchange Mailbox Store or individual mail boxes and folders, says Swami Nathan, President of SmartPick Backup. He adds, By partnering with Symantec, customers can now take advantage of the industry leading Backup Exec System Recovery product with the focused offsite solution that the SmartFiler Appliances bring for large amounts of data.

The SmartFiler Backup Appliances solution solves a challenging problem of backing up large amounts of data, typically greater than 50GB, offsite. SmartPick has been successfully providing online data backup products and services for small and medium businesses from 2003. With the shift by companies to store all data in a digital form, be it health records, financial information, email trails for compliance etc., it has become increasingly difficult to do a daily offsite backup, primarily due to the volume of data involved. The SmartFiler backup appliances are ideal for situations where more than 50GB of data need to be backed up daily onsite and offsite.

The SmartFiler Backup Appliance solution is the most cost effective offsite backup solution in the market today. Though it is built with enterprise class software and features, it provides a cost effective, yet elegant solution for small and medium businesses, says Suren Lalapet, Director of Marketing at SmartPick.

Arbor Networks Introduces New Version of the Peakflow

CHELMSFORD, MA (PRWEB) April 24, 2012

Arbor Networks, Inc., a leading provider of security and network management solutions for enterprise and service provider networks, today announced the availability of version 5.7 of Peakflow SP, the industrys leading network-wide infrastructure security and traffic-monitoring platform.

According to a recent report from Infonetics Research titled DDoS Prevention Appliance Market Outlook, Arbor Networks was cited as the dominant leader for DDoS prevention overall, with a 75.4 percent market share in the carrier transport and wired broadband market segment, versus 8.8 percent for the next competitor.” Arbor quietly took control of the DDoS prevention appliance market over the last ten years, but with the massive increase in volume, size, and mainstream visibility of DDoS attacks, Arbor has emerged as a key security partner for large service providers around the globe, said Jeff Wilson Infonetics Research, Principal Analyst, Security.

The vast majority of the worlds leading service providers rely on Arbors Peakflow SP platform to proactively fend off malicious threats such as botnets and volumetric and application-layer distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, while strengthening the availability and quality of their services. The Peakflow SP platform includes two main components, Peakflow SP and the Threat Management System (TMS). Peakflow SP combines network-wide anomaly detection and traffic engineering with TMSs carrier-class threat management, which automatically detects and surgically removes only attack traffic, while maintaining legitimate business traffic. With the ability to mitigate only the attack traffic, customer-facing services remain available while providers actively mitigate attacks.

New features include the ATLAS Intelligence Feed (AIF), which delivers automated protection from virtually all known botnets, plus a real-time update service that protects customers from new botnets as they emerge. No other product or vendor has this capability. In February, Arbor announced that Japans KDDI, a global provider of fixed-line and mobile communications services, had incorporated AIF functionality into its security service offerings. Additionally, Peakflow SP now delivers an enhanced suite of detection and countermeasures that protect business-critical servers from application-layer attacks caused by malformed and abusive SSL signaling and negotiation, retransmit storms and IPv6 attack vectors.

ATLAS Intelligence Feed

AIF also delivers deep DDoS signatures in real-time to keep networks protected against hundreds of botnet-fueled DDoS attack toolsets and their variants. This unique feed automates the identification of attacks against infrastructure and services from known botnets while ensuring that updates for new threats are automatically delivered without software upgrades. The ATLAS Intelligence Feed enables Peakflow SP customers to directly benefit from the depth and breadth of Arbors research team.

The Arbor Security Engineering & Response Team (ASERT) is a recognized industry expert when it comes to Internet threat analysis. ASERTs primary focus is on botnets, which account for a majority of the DDoS attacks on the Internet today. ASERT has unique visibility into DDoS botnets because of its ATLAS infrastructure, which combines a darknet sensor network with traffic data from more than 100 service provider customers around the world. This enormous dataset enables ASERT to develop a unique, globally-scoped view of malicious traffic traversing backbone networks that form the Internet’s core. This insight is critical, as botnets are constantly changing and updating to thwart detection.

SSL Protocol Attack Protection

Today, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) provides the necessary security and encryption for enterprises and their customers to safeguard sensitive transactions and email over the Internet. As enterprises increasingly rely on SSL for their mission critical communications, it becomes a more significant target for DDoS attacks. To ensure the availability of SSL-powered services, Arbors Peakflow SP now delivers DDoS protections for SSL regardless of the application HTTPS, POP3S, SMTPS, etc. Peakflow SP blocks SSL DDoS attacks with ASERT-designed protections that guard against malformed traffic, attempts to continually renegotiate connections and other advanced attacks that aim to disrupt service availability.

Peakflow SP has dominated the service provider market for a long time because we continue to invest and innovate in the platform, said Colin Doherty, Arbor Networks president. Increasingly, large enterprises, hosting providers and cloud providers are also deploying Peakflow SP because of the advanced, proven DDoS protection the solution provides. Peakflow SP plays a critical role in securing the Internet from availability threats like denial of service attacks. It also provides extremely valuable insight into network traffic with actionable intelligence that provides real value for security, operations and even marketing teams within a provider organization. Peakflow is and will remain a very robust security and traffic management platform.

Cofio Introduces Breakthrough Disk Repository Functionality for Remote Office Backup

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 06, 2011

Cofio Software introduces Smart-Remote-SyncTM (SRS) in its upcoming AIMstorTM Version 2.5, to be released in September 2011.

AIMstors SRS technology addition greatly improves efficiency of IT resources and transfer times when moving data from one location to another via a wide area network (WAN) to a disk based repository for Data Protection, Disaster Recovery (DR) or Searchable Archive.

AIMstor v2.5 has been optimized for Remote Office Backup, Backup for DR and for Managed Service Providers (MSP) offering remote backup services to their clients.

Todays IT professionals and Backup Service Providers need solutions to effectively move data from one location to another with minimal impact to resources. To what extent this efficiency is achieved relies upon the intelligence and awareness within and between repositories throughout the enterprise.

SRS enables synchronization between multiple data repositories and differs from conventional backup approaches by the granularity in which it performs the synchronization between systems. Unlike legacy backup products, SRS goes beyond the all or nothing approach. SRS enables you to synchronize only the parts of the repository that you require and with full control of the periodicity at which in happens. Consequently you may choose to perform hourly SRS transfers of application data but weekly SRS transfers of OS images.

With AIMstor v2.5, data is scanned only once from servers and workstations using Global Source Deduplication, further reducing IT resources. Disk repositories then move data to any number of local and remote repositories according to user defined policies.

Tuned for WAN environments, Smart-Remote-Sync can utilize Encrypted SSL connectivity between end-points, single port firewall connectivity, source and end point de-duplication and bandwidth throttling.

Transferring backup and recovery data between sites has been problematic for Burkhart and spending more dollars for increased bandwidth due to inefficient backup products isnt an option. With AIMstor v2.5 we can move data between sites with existing bandwidth and save valuable compute time and disk resources, says Bryce Kerker, of Burkhart Dentals IT group.

This intelligence behind AIMstors SRS aids IT organizations to meet data protection service level agreements with minimal impact to IT resources and in many cases allows for remote backup without added expense of larger bandwidth resource. Smart-Remote-Sync is a simple component within AIMstors Workflow User Interface, a Drag n Drop approach to setting up entire workflow for data protection and archive in minutes.

Availability and Pricing

AIMstor v2.5 is scheduled to be released this month to all new clients and users under current maintenance support agreements. Smart-Remote-SyncTM comes at no added cost and is a new integrated feature within the AIMstor Data Protection Suite.

About Cofio Software, Inc.
