Scala Introduces Advanced Analytics that Helps Retailers be Bold with Big Data to Boost Sales

Exton, PA (PRWEB) March 05, 2012

Scala, Inc. today unveiled Scala Advanced Analytics, a cloud computing-based predictive analytics application for retailers which transforms market data and live third-party data streams into marketing messages that positively impact buying behavior. Advanced Analytics helps retailers know what their customers want to buy before the customers do and encourages them to make purchases through point-of-sale digital signage.

Scala Advanced Analytics capabilities enable retailers to leverage data they already own to predict and deliver optimum sales messages to in-store customers with digital signage.

Scala Advanced Analytics is a game-changing application for retailers, said Tom Nix, Scala CEO. Powerful Scala digital display content driven by Advanced Analytics can grab customers attention, engage them with immediacy and interactivity, and present customers multiple streams of relevant information on one or a series of displays. Advanced Analytics constantly monitors data to suggest changes to messages to match business rules and conditions and even the individual customer in front of the screen.

As consumers have more and more information access points, automated multichannel marketing becomes critical, said Steven Keith Platt, Director of The Platt Retail Institute. Cross-channel consumers have been found to be 33.4 percent more valuable to retailers. To implement this requires a streamlined, Big Data management systemization.

Retailers can be Bold with Big Data

Scala Advanced Analytics can digest millions of data records on sales, products, customer habits, trends, pricing changes, weather, time of day, day of week, season of the year and much more. Then, the application uses predictive analytics to determine the probability of what might happen next in a retail environment based on a retailers business rules and goals.

Advanced Analytics spells out to the retailer the best course of action with digital signage content to achieve the preferred sales outcome. The application has an automated machine-learning feedback loop that continues to learn about the retailers business and customers to optimize business decisions so the application constantly improves its recommendations.

With Advanced Analytics and Scala digital communication software, a retailer can create automated, data-driven messaging for point-of-sales signage according to its own pre-defined goals such as:

Backup My Info!"s Data Retention Strategy Helps SMBs Realize Quicker Restores and Increased Cost Savings

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 27, 2010

Backup My Info! (BUMI), the premier provider of managed online backup and recovery solutions for small to mid-sized businesses, today announced that its data retention strategy is helping SMBs realize quicker restores and significant cost savings. BUMI has recognized that as much as 90 percent of a typical organization’s data is no longer active, while the remaining 10 percent is dynamic and thus considered business-critical. While all data is important, organizations need a streamlined approach to getting their critical data back as soon as possible. By focusing on the changing data first, the business can get back up and running faster. The remaining 90 percent can be restored in a phased approach.

Prior to the start of any customer engagement, BUMI works with clients to develop a data retention strategy that will immediately restore the highest priority data. The critical changing data, or 10 percent, is backed up to BUMI’s online vault as well as in a local location on the clients’ network – and can be restored quickly. Data that has not changed for a long period of time, or data that does not require immediate recovery, is kept on the BUMI retention vaults utilizing lower cost storage. If a large amount of data needs to be restored, BUMI will ship this data overnight in encrypted and compressed format on a USB hard drive which can then be restored rapidly at no charge to the client. As a standard practice, a BUMI engineer will be remotely connected to assist in all recovery procedures and they are available 24 hours a day for emergency support.

“Explosive data growth is driving SMBs toward cloud-based data backup services,” said Deni Connor, principal analyst at Storage Strategies NOW. “Without a strategic backup and restore plan in place, data infrastructures can be impacted by all types of data loss scenarios. To that effect, organizations should take a closer look at their IT operations, and like BUMI’s ’10 percent’ findings, identify the business-critical components to ensure they are in the best position for a speedy recovery.”

Supporting all major operating systems, BUMI provides an automated off-site data backup and recovery service. With data protection and reliability a prime concern for all organizations, BUMI has built several layers of security into its online backup solution. Data is encrypted at the point it leaves a customer site and remains encrypted at all times. Additionally, BUMI’s senior engineers continuously monitor backup processes to ensure customer data is properly safeguarded and proactively follow up if they identify any errors or problems. From a disaster recovery and business continuity perspective, all off-site backups are stored in SAS70 Type II data centers located in Canada.

“By providing our customers with a customized recovery strategy on top of solid, secure backups, BUMI is able to satisfy clients’ objectives,” explained Jennifer Walzer, CEO at Backup My Info!, Inc. “These objectives include the management of exponential growth in companies’ critical data, as well as reduce the backup window which can be crucial for businesses that need 24 hour uptime.”

About Backup My Info!

Infinite Campus Hosting Helps Oak Grove Avoid Data-loss Disaster

Blaine, MN (Vocus/PRWEB) March 28, 2011

During the weekend of March 19, 2011, torrential rains hit the San Jose, Calif., area where Oak Grove School District is located. Staff arrived at school on Monday to find their Infinite Campus servers damaged by a roof leak in their data center. A phone call to Infinite Campus got Oak Grove data redirected to the Campus Data Center at the Infinite Campus Corporate Office in Blaine, Minn., and they were back in business within an hour.

Our district serves 11,500 students and on Monday morning when the secretaries called us to report that Infinite Campus was down and they were getting an error message theyd never seen before, we knew we had a problem, said Laura Stricker, Oak Grove Information Systems Supervisor. We contacted Infinite Campus and before 10 a.m. we were fully up and running. Their response time is impressive.

Infinite Campus offers a unique hosting solution that provides a server at each customers site to ensure optimum system response times. All equipment is remotely managed and maintained by the Campus Hosting Team, including nightly scheduled backups.

Disaster recovery is part of Campus Hosting. When Oak Grove contacted us Monday morning about their loss of service, we were fully prepared to spin up their backup data so they could access their information from the Campus Data Center via the Internet, said Dave Rappath, Campus Hosting Manager. In addition to disaster recovery, several districts have chosen to add continuous backup to their hosting options, so if loss of service happens during business hours, they would only lose minutes of data rather than an entire day.

Oak Grove is pleased to learn that Infinite Campus replaces all necessary Infinite Campus equipment at no additional cost. New equipment will arrive in Oak Grove within days. Infinite Campus will even replace the custom scripts lost in the outage.

When this happened I was actually relaxed because I knew we had the support from Infinite Campus, said Stricker. When we became an Infinite Campus customer in 2010, we purchased Campus Hosting services. We found out first hand that it really works the way they said it would.

Rise Helps MSPs Gain Advantage with Guidance, Services to Meet 2012 Business Trends

MIAMI FL (PRWEB) February 02, 2012

From ITEXPO/ MSPAlliance MSPWorld, Rise, a premier provider of cloud computing and hosted IT services, announced their cloud services are helping managed service providers gain a competitive advantage by addressing the top business concerns regarding moving to the cloud. New research from the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF) recently announced by Andy Burton, CEO of Rise and chairman of the CIF confirms that confidence in the reliability of vendors is key to overcoming ITs top concerns regarding cloud-based services. Rises certification and significant track record of success help MSPs gain credibility with first-time purchasers.

According to the survey of 400 end-users from Enterprise and small and medium size IT organizations, security and privacy of data in the cloud top the list of concerns for both private and public sectors, followed by confidence in vendors, Internet access, cost of migration and contractual lock-in. Despite this, an astounding 98 per cent of those already using cloud-based services are satisfied with existing hosted services and cloud deployments, and more than 94 per cent plan to expand their investments in 2012.

With the rapid growth in the US cloud market, its proven ground that once the initial adoption of a cloud service is achieved, the trend is to further extend hosted services to other core areas of the business, said Burton. In order to reduce barriers around that initial experience and commence rich partner relationships, MSPs must address their customers concerns head-on. By choosing a reputable, certified and reliable cloud platform, MSPs and cloud service providers can provide their customers with the assurance they need to cost-effectively expand to the cloud and gain business advantage.

The CIFs 2012 Cloud Predictions whitepaper will be made available for download on the Rise website http://www.rise.co following publication in mid-February. To learn more about CIF, visit http://www.cloudindustryforum.org/.

The research conducted by CIF in January of 2012 shows that while organization size will no longer be a determinant of rate of adoption, the mid market will seek a disproportionate level of assistance with on-boarding data and other professional services. Implementation and managed services will be a key point of differentiation among successful suppliers.

Rise equips its channel partners with certified and award-winning infrastructure they need to provide cloud services to their customers. This includes virtual and dedicated servers, storage, backup, web hosting and disaster recovery. Rise host these services from the secure infrastructure of Rise’s D ataCenter on Demand and provide 24/7/365 support.

In honor of its commitment to delivering products and services for outstanding adoption and application of innovation, Rise was named by Microsoft as the 2011 Global Hosting Partner of the Year.

We believe that every organization will have at least a part of their IT services provided in the cloud. Their ability to manage this increasingly distributed IT estate is critical to moving forward. Certified Service Providers that make information available to their partners and vendors to enable IT governance and provide confidence to customers will see increased levels of trust and adoption, Burton concludes.

ProviDyns Assessment and Readiness Program Helps Ensure Technology and Business Goals of SMBs are on PAR

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 30, 2012

ProviDyn, a provider of IT support, strategy and services, announces the ProviDyn Assessment and Readiness (PAR) program designed to evaluate the technology infrastructure of small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) and, in turn, uncover opportunities to increase efficiency and determine readiness for new technology.

For many SMBs, a focus on growth can result in a reactive approach to managing technology. However, problems arise when an incident, such as an equipment failure or security breach, negatively impacts productivity. Often times, these situations can be prevented with awareness and proactive management of a companys IT infrastructure. ProviDyn developed PAR to provide growing businesses with a comprehensive view of their existing technology infrastructure, along with expert advice on selecting the best technologies and solutions, increasing efficiency and planning for anticipated future needs — before an issue arises.

The ProviDyn Assessment and Readiness Service is a four step process:

Stakeholder Interviews Conversations with business owners, department heads and stakeholders to determine current IT issues and successes, along with goals for the future. Understanding the company and its drivers for growth help determine if the right technology is in place to drive the business toward meeting its goals.

Physical Discovery An evaluation of the current systems and network infrastructure to determine quality, brand and model, age and proper deployment. This step also includes checking for proper cabling, switching and routing, along with inspecting backup system hardware.

Environmental Discovery – Identifies any environmental factors, such as exposure to heat, dust and particulate matter. This step will also note vulnerability to fire and water (flood or fire suppression), theft and possible protection from employee tampering or accidental damage.

Digital Discovery A review of current software licensing, versions of licensing, legal and technological compliance. The ProviDyn team will also look at the configuration of digital systems to see if they are able to prevent both internal and external security threats. This will help identify strategic alternatives such as updating to a more current software version, selecting a better software for a particular job and/or configuring firewalls for added security.

Our experience with SMBs shows that a one size fits all approach is not effective in establishing a reliable technology infrastructure and scaling to meet future growth, said Hamish Davidson, co-founder and president of ProviDyn. Taking what weve learned from working with SMBs, we created PAR to give clients a custom assessment of their current technology situation, identify gaps or inefficiencies in IT systems and resources and provide strategic recommendations for selecting the best technology and services in the future.

About ProviDyn

ProviDyn provides technology expertise, services and support to Atlanta-area small and medium-sized businesses. Backed by certified technology professionals, ProviDyns services include managed services, cloud computing solutions, virtualization, help desk and computer support, IT strategy, network security, backup and disaster recovery and IP telephony. New Compliance Training Series from Wombat Security Helps Companies Address PCI Awareness Training Requirements and Reduce Risk

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) November 13, 2012

Wombat Security Technologies (Wombat), a leading provider of cyber security awareness and training solutions, today announced the release of its newest training series created to help retailers and businesses address key requirements of common privacy laws and data protection mandates, including PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance. To ensure security policy and procedures are met and reduce the risk of data theft, security awareness training is a mandatory requirement of the PCI Data Security Standard for all employees who handle cardholder data. Wombats new compliance training series leverages the companys proven learning techniques to clearly explain data security requirements to employees and emphasize their responsibility towards securing sensitive information, while simplifying compliance monitoring and reporting for PCI managers.

The key is not just awareness; it is behavior change; as such, interactive security awareness training platforms help compliance managers effectively administer mandated employee education, prove the completion of training in the event of an audit, and actually change the way that employees behave. The result is lower risk for the organization said Andrew Walls, Vice President of Security, Risk and Privacy of Gartner. Companies that employ new interactive cyber security assessment and context aware security training software are reporting reductions in susceptibility to employee-targeted attacks, which translates to fewer breaches and lower remediation costs.

At the most recent PCI Council meeting, the organization reported that security breaches were at the worst level since the group was founded. With data breaches capturing top news headlines, it is more important than ever for companies to enhance their data security and compliance protocols. The 12 requirements for PCI DSS compliance include annual training of employees to maintain and enhance a businesss internal security controls.
