High-Efficiency Power Protection: Emerson Network Power Introduces Liebert NXL 1100 kVA/1100kW to Provide High-Efficiency UPS Protection for Critical Data Centers

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) April 12, 2012

Summary: Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and a global leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, today introduced the Liebert NXL 1100kVA/1100kW UPS to offer medium to large data centers a level of operating efficiency previously available only in transformer-free systems, but with the safety, fault tolerance, and reliability demonstrated by transformer-based systems. The Liebert NXL UPS is UL and CSA listed and is available globally for 60 Hz applications480, 575 or 600VAC.

Details: The Liebert NXL UPS is the first large transformer-based UPS system to be tested and UL listed and labeled to UL1778 fourth edition specifications. The highest-capacity transformer-based UPS in the industry, Liebert NXL 1100kVA/1100kW UPS provides the industrys best operating efficiency at typical load levels in double conversion mode with up to 98 percent efficiency when operating in Intelligent Eco-Mode.

The Liebert NXL UPS battery ground fault isolation results in normal system operation even under battery ground fault conditions. During these fault conditions, the system does not go to bypass as happens with transformer-free technologies. The Liebert NXL UPS is available in many configurations, including single module, 1+N distributed bypass and N+1 central bypass, to ensure the right level of power redundancy for any critical application and Tier level. The robust design of the Liebert NXL UPS allows operation at 100 percent load under a stack-up of conditions that would require other systems to de-rate their output or compromise system availability.

The Liebert NXL UPS features optional matching battery cabinets that can be equipped with Alber BDSi integrated battery monitoring to proactively monitor battery health. A Liebert NXL System Control Cabinet is available for N+1 parallel configurations, controlling the operation of the system and also containing the system static bypass switch.

Quotes attributable to Peter Panfil, vice president of global power, Emerson Network Power:

As critical power requirements in todays high-availability data centers continue to increase, IT and facility managers are seeking the greater power capacity and superior reliability and energy efficiency needed to meet growing demand. Until recently this has been fueling a growing interest in using transformer-free UPS modules in three-phase critical power applications.

The transformer-based Liebert NXL 1100 kVA UPS utilizes the latest power protection technology to offer a level of operating efficiency that was previously only available in transformer-free systems.

It also features battery ground fault isolation that ensures normal operation under battery ground fault conditions and isolates personnel working on the DC systems from hazardous AC voltage.

Cloud Computing embraced in Denver By Mission Critical systems

Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 14, 2010

Denver IT company launches cloud computing initiative

Much as the Internet burst on the scene and rapidly altered the landscape of global communication, so is cloud computing replacing on-site based servers and systems.

Companies like Denver-based Mission Critical Systems (MCS) are perfectly positioned for this shift, given their experience and understanding of traditional on-site infrastructure development, management, and maintenance.

The beauty of cloud computing is that its not an all-or-nothing proposition, notes Mission Critical Systems General Manager Gene Smith. Were working with companies looking to migrate slowly from their on-site servers to individual applications and software hosted on the Web. And, were talking with others prepared to move aggressively on transitioning their entire company infrastructure into the cloud.

To offer a foundation for informed decision-making in this arena, MCS is addressing cloud computing pros and cons in an Oct. 6 noon-hour webinar.

Notes Smith, Typically, people are concerned about security, transitional disruption and accompanying loss of productivity, and perceived loss of control that occurs when the server is no longer on premises. We aim to reassure people and make them feel comfortable with this prospective change, while also emphasizing that time is of the essence.

Some estimate that on-premise Microsoft Exchange servers will vanish in as little as two years, replaced by Exchange in the Cloud. Obviously, cloud computing isnt going to vanish into thin air.

Cloud computing can scale economically to many sizes and scopes of challenges, all while effectively commoditizing the back office IT function at lower and more predictable cost. However, just as no company would purchase an on-site server without first evaluating capacity, speed, reliability and the like, companies need to marry their requirements to the most appropriate cloud computing model.

Bandwidths, proprietary software and cloudless partners are three issues to review closely before making the cloud commitment. Bandwidth requirements may be too large for the cloud. Some proprietary software isnt compatible. And, companies should make sure that going to the cloud wont create conflicts with cloudless partners, Smith points out.

In the one hour webinar on October 6th at 12:00 MDT, the firm will address:

1) The origins and drivers of cloud computing

2) What cloud computing means for the SMB community. Especially for small businesses, cloud computing can Lower costs and provide business advantages–eliminating the need for purchase and maintenance of expensive on-premise servers requiring spam protection, redundant power supplies, physical space, electricity, air conditioning, and more.

3) Reliability, security, performance and other concerns. Make sure to review Service Level Agreements and End User licensing agreements for every cloud computing service chosen, to make sure performance expectations are addressed.

4) How the cloud also can greatly simplify execution of a disaster recovery plan. (Youll still want to have redundant backup on tape, flash drive or other media.)

5) Saving money and reducing risk and wasted time. Instead of spending $ 15,000 on a new Exchange server and $ 500 per month maintaining it, host the service in the cloud for $ 2,400 down and a reasonable maintenance cost.

6) How to transition to the cloud with no interruptions. Moving to the cloud is not an all-or-nothing choice. For instance, you can move to a cloud solution to meet customer relationship needs while maintaining an on-premises server. Later, you can commit to a cloud server.

Protravel International Continues to Utilize Backup My Info! to Backup and Restore Critical Data for their Corporate Servers and Remote Workforce

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 28, 2010

Backup My Info! (BUMI), the premier provider of online backup and recovery solutions for small to mid-sized businesses, today announced that Protravel International, Inc. continues to utilize BUMI for its off-site data backup and disaster recovery needs. Protravel is a full service, dynamic retail travel company with annual sales of nearly $ 700 million. With 780 employees spread throughout 24 worldwide locations serving a diverse client base, Protravel needed a backup solution that would safeguard its critical data and protect against a disaster recovery situation.

In the past, Protravel used a standard tape backup system to safeguard data across 13 servers. According to Lou Moran, Chief Technology Officer at Protravel, the daily backup processes were time-consuming, difficult to administer and could not be trusted.

“I wasn’t even sure if the tape system was working, and if the backups would be there if we needed to restore,” explained Moran. “With data backups, you cannot leave anything for chance, so we decided to replace our tape-based system with a hosted service. We identified several hosted backup options, and quickly realized that BUMI was best suited to support our enterprise needs. Additionally, their emphasis on service and support provided an added level of comfort knowing that if, or when, we ever need to restore data, they are well-positioned to guide us through the process quickly.”

Protravel is using BUMI to backup data of local Microsoft applications including SQL, Office, SharePoint, and Active Directory, as well as their Web servers. In addition, Protravel utilizes BUMI to manage remote desktops and laptops, which are scheduled to run at specific intervals. If any of the servers, desktops or laptops experience backup errors, BUMI’s senior-level technicians immediately notify Moran’s team.

“When I first started using the BUMI service, I was immediately impressed with how transparent it is to our day-to-day operations,” said Moran. “In addition, BUMI’s proactive monitoring of backups – as well as the professional and friendly customer service we receive – have been added bonuses for us. We’re not BUMI’s largest client, but you would never know that from the attention to detail we receive. I want all my vendors to treat us like we are that important – and that’s exactly what BUMI does with every interaction with them.”

“Aside from providing best-in-class technology and processes, it is important for our team to learn about the nuances of each client’s data so they are in the best position to backup and restore it,” said Jennifer Walzer, CEO at Backup My Info!, Inc. “For Protravel, we understand the urgency of backing up their business-critical data and constantly work with them to ensure it is always safe and accessible.”

Sonasoft & Osterman Research Publish White Paper on Why Email Archiving is a Critical Best Practice

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) February 1, 2011

Sonasoft Inc., an emerging leading provider of fully integrated and automated solutions for email archiving, disaster recovery, and exchange backup / recovery solutions along with Osterman Research a market research and consulting firm, announced today that it is making available its white paper, Why Email Archiving is a Critical Best Practice.

The research addresses the issues related to email archiving adoption today. It also answers critical questions like: Why is archiving is a critical best practice for any organization? Is archiving riskier than deleting all content and does it create additional storage problems? Can regular backups be an important best practice substitute for archiving?; while giving a brief overview of how Sonasofts email archiving solutions can help resolve these issues.

According to Michael D. Osterman, President Osterman Research, Inc. and author of this whitepaper, Email archiving can have a positive impact on virtually every individual and function within an organization:

It can dramatically lower the time and cost of responding to a regulatory audit or an e-discovery request, thereby reducing legal fees and the time required to respond to inquiries.
It can more reliably preserve business records because it takes the decision out of the hands of individual users, and it reduces the likelihood of accidentally deleting important content that should be preserved for long periods.
It can reduce the amount of storage on email servers, allowing them to run more efficiently and reliably with shorter backup windows and shorter restoration periods.
It can allow end users to access their own older email content instead of requesting assistance from IT, allowing the latter to work more efficiently.
It can assist with migrations from one version of an email system to another, making the entire process of migration faster and more efficient.

On why should people be downloading this report, Osterman adds, Email archiving is both a business and a technical decision. Line-of-business decision makers should read the paper to understand the business and legal benefits of archiving, while IT decision makers need to understand that archiving is not just another system to manage, but instead one that can save them time and money, and can make other parts of the IT infrastructure operate more efficiently.

Topics covered in the white paper include:

What prevents archiving adoption today?
Why do you need to archive email?
Key issues to consider when selecting an email archiving solution
Understanding the consequences of not archiving
How to establish mail and other content retention policies
Calculating long-term archiving requirements
Deploying a solution for long-term

Risk Management Decision Saves Health Council from Critical Loss

Columbia, SC (Vocus/PRWEB) February 15, 2011

Unitrends, the leading provider in integrated and scalable backup solutions, today announced that NE Missouri Health Council relied on Unitrends Recovery appliance to gain full recovery of its crashed system, retrieving 100 percent of the health councils mission-critical data.

After opting out of CommVault due to reliability issues and high pricing, NMHC discovered Unitrends as a trusted solution for all-in-one backup, archiving and disaster recovery. NMHCs investment in Unitrends resulted in high returns for the non-profit health care provider.

John Brown, IT director for NMHC, had performed a live migration on the facilitys Windows servers, and during the process, an error caused all data to be entirely erased.

I contacted Unitrends at 11:30 at night. Within 10 minutes, I had a phone call from a support rep-resentative, and we were able to restore all pertinent data that was lost, Brown said.

Most of the information that went to the file servers was patient charts. Had Unitrends not been deployed, NMHC could have been at great risk of losing vital patient records and hindering day-to-day operations.

Unitrends was definitely there, definitely on my side and was dili

Non-Profit Organizations Safeguard Critical Data with Backup My Info!

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 21, 2011

Backup My Info! (BUMI), the premium provider of managed online backup and recovery solutions for small to mid-sized businesses, today announced continued strong demand for its online data backup and recovery service within the non-profit sector. Non-profits are increasingly leveraging BUMI as a trusted partner to proactively manage and secure their business-critical data as well as membership and fundraising databases which are the lifeblood of any charitable organization.

One such organization leveraging BUMIs data backup and recovery expertise is Japan Society, an American non-profit which fosters understanding and relationships between Japan and the United States. Prior to deploying BUMI, the non-profit used a flawed data backup and recovery service that would only restore data by an entire day not specifically by sender or subject. For an organization heavily reliant on email, it was not an ideal solution.

“When we started using BUMI, the difference was immediately apparent,” said Larry Kong, IT Director at Japan Society. “You can use any company to backup data. The key question is how quickly can you restore it? With BUMI, if we lose something, even a single email or calendar entry, we can retrieve it quickly and easily.

Supporting all major operating systems, BUMI provides an automated off-site data backup and recovery service. With data protection and reliability a prime concern for all types of organizations, BUMI has built several layers of security into its online backup solution. Data is encrypted at the point it leaves a customer site and remains encrypted at all times. From a disaster recovery and business continuity perspective, all off-site backups are stored in SAS70 Type II data centers located in Canada.

Faced with reduced financial support coupled with a growing demand for services, non-profit organizations operate in an increasingly competitive environment while pursuing their charitable passions, said Jennifer Walzer, CEO at Backup My Info!, Inc. We are proud to work with a number of non-profits and serve as a virtual extension of their IT departments which can oftentimes be stretched and focused on many other tasks. Our secure, off-site data backup and restore service is complemented by our full-time engineers who continuously monitor data backup processes to ensure customer data is properly safeguarded and proactively follow up if they identify any errors or problems.

In addition to Japan Society, BUMI is working with many other non-profit organizations such as The Neuropathy Association, New York County Medical Society, The Boys’ Club of New York, and more.

Carolina Panthers Draft NextVault for Protecting Critical Team Data

Sudbury, MA & Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) November 15, 2011

NextVault CEO, Kevin Harris, announced today that NFL football team Carolina Panthers have entered into a multi-year agreement for data backup, archiving and disaster recovery services. We are very excited about the new relationship and expect it to be mutually successful and long lasting, commented Harris.

Panthers Director of Information Technology, Jon Credit, has wanted to deploy online backup services for the team for some time but could not find the right solution at the right price for the team. A creative partnership between NextVault and the Panthers granted Credit’s wishes and made this partnership a reality. NextVault has entered into a sponsorship deal with the team to utilize marketing and advertising services from the team while providing NextVaults comprehensive online data backup solution for nearly thirty servers.

NextVault EVP, Bud Stoddard, engineered the creative partnership based on a successful track record with several NFL teams in previous years. Sports franchises have large amounts of mission critical data and tape backup can no longer adequately protect that data, said Stoddard.

NextVault is most enthusiastic about its partnership with the Panthers and expects to announce additional relationships with additional professional sports franchises in the coming months.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 26, 2012

BUMI (Backup My Info!), the premium provider of managed online backup and recovery solutions for small to mid-sized businesses, today announced the findings of its annual industry survey, which analyzed current approaches to data backup and recovery. Organisations can now suppport information sharing and meet security and compliance requirements, by easily monitoring critical and sensitive data access and manipulation

(PRWEB UK) 26 October 2012

8MAN Logga, a new 8MAN feature, tracks unauthorised access to sensitive and critical information and provides automatic reporting, complete with documented audit trails and timely alerts. The file server monitor feature registers and saves all requests and actions on selected file server directories. 8MAN Logga records which data was accessed by whom and what actions were performed. If a selected file server directory was accessed, 8MAN Logga can determine who accessed it, when they accessed it and also which data was read, edited or changed in any way.

All and any file, folder and directory access requests can be recorded. However, a significant amount of valuable storage space can easily be consumed if the system is not making intelligent selections of which information assets to track and record. With 8MAN Logga, organisations can select only those files, folders and directories that need to be monitored for compliance and security purposes.

Company data can broadly be divided into three categories: critical, sensitive and general information. Around 80% of the data a company holds on its servers is not business critical or sensitive in nature.

By integrating the 8MAN Logga feature with our 8MAN Data Owner concept, we can focus on tracking only client sensitive or mission critical information saving the organisation time, resources and storage space, said Steven Bennett, EMEA Head of Channel, protected-networks.

Changes in business operations and processes are inevitable – triggered by growth, new technologies and/or external factors. These changes have direct implications on the administration rights within an organisation. With 8MAN Logga organisations can document whether the current administration rights are appropriate for the changing strategy and operations. Employees can then be provided with the information access they need to meet their business goals and objectives.

About protected-networks: Founded in 2009, protected-networks GmbH is a Berlin-based company that develops integrated solutions for access rights management of server environments across all business sectors and at public authorities. The solution, 8MAN is an Information Trust Software based on an innovative approach to integrated data security management and offers uniform and automated management of user rights. Clients thereby save cost and time while increasing protection against unauthorised internal access.

AMLI Residential Protects Critical Disaster Recovery, Replication Apps with Exinda

BOSTON, Mass. (PRWEB) November 27, 2012

Exinda, a global provider of next-generation WAN optimization and application performance assurance solutions, announced today that AMLI Residential, one of the preeminent multi-family housing companies in the United States, has chosen Exinda to assure the performance of its disaster recovery and backup systems between its Chicago and Atlanta locations.

AMLI relies on a MPLS network to connect its sites around the country, with the Chicago and Atlanta sites connecting with a 45 Mbps link. AMLI backs up two very large storage area networks as well as its database servers, internal applications, voice applications and more across the WAN to the Atlanta disaster recovery site, and also replicates its production data from all sites to Atlanta. When its MPLS connections started to become heavily congested causing production data replication to fall significantly behind, AMLI turned to Exinda.

We consider data recovery and backup a critical part of our production environment, and we were falling more and more behind with our existing WAN Optimization solution, said Billy Keller, vice president of IT infrastructure at AMLI. Our replication was almost a year behind; we were in a heavy-risk situation. If something happened in Chicago, wed have to rebuild from scratch and would lose a lot of data and a lot of money.

With Exinda’s network optimization capabilities in place, AMLI quickly caught up on the replication of its production data, and just as importantly, does not need to invest in additional bandwidth to relieve congestion. This has been a great fit in ensuring our critical production environment can come back up on a seconds notice, Keller said. Exinda has allowed me to sleep better at night knowing that if something does happen, we are prepared.

AMLI was able to see significant improvement in their disaster recovery and replication backups with Exindas WAN optimization 2.0 solutions, said Brendan Reid, vice president of product marketing for Exinda. They are a great example of how Exinda is working with enterprises to help them assure the performance of the applications that are most strategic to their business.

About Exinda

Exinda is a leading global supplier of WAN optimization and Internet traffic control solutions. Exinda enables organizations to assure a predictable user experience for strategic business applications through policy-based WAN optimization and Internet Control that intelligently allocate network bandwidth and optimize traffic based on the priorities of the business. The company has helped more than 2,500 organizations in over 80 countries worldwide assure application performance, improve the end-user experience, contain recreational applications and reduce network operating costs for the IT executive.
