Colocation Provider C4L Connects The Bournemouth Air Show

(Vocus) August 18, 2010

C4L, a leading UK colocation provider are using their Wireless Leased Line service to help provide the Bournemouth Air Show with Internet connectivity. C4L have recently launched their Wireless Leased Line service and were approached by Etherlive, an Event and Specialist IT services provider, to supply high speed Internet services for the event.

C4L has set up a wireless point to point link between County Gates House and the Cumberland Hotel in Bournemouth in order to provide the Cumberland Hotel rooms, bar and pool area with Internet connectivity. Etherlive will be providing free Internet access to all attendees watching the Air Show from the beach, as well as giving the Air Show’s event organisers some key services, including a number of Wireless VoIP phones. This has been made possible by C4L’s Wireless Leased Line service.

Matt Hawkins, Managing Director of C4L commented ‘When we were approached by Etherlive, we were more than happy to oblige to their request of our using our services to provide the Bournemouth Air Show with Internet connectivity. This is a fantastic opportunity for C4L to deploy our Wireless Leased Service to such a high calibre local event. The introduction of our Wireless Leased Line service will provide the UK with an alternative connectivity option that can reach areas which traditionally have limited connectivity’.

C4L’s Wireless Leased Line service has been devised to address the ever increasing gap between broadband speeds in areas close to the telephone exchange, and those further away. The service has been developed via thorough research and by using C4L’s existing Internet Infrastructure. Wireless Leased Lines work by transmitting radio, microwave or laser technology frequencies to a receiver giving them a private, uncontended, high speed Internet connection. To provide a high speed wireless connection to the Air Show an antenna was deployed on the roof of the Bournemouth data centre which then links with another antenna on the Cumberland Hotel, allowing for connectivity within a three mile radius. C4L will be extending their wireless presence over the upcoming months to ensure maximum coverage across the UK.

C4L is an Internet Infrastructure provider and deploys a full range of services in over 25 data centres including colocation, IP Transit, Interconnects, Data Backup, Data Storage, Virtualisation, Disaster Recovery and Leased Lines, to name just a few. These are all provided with C4Ls commitment to maximum uptime and customer support featuring a 24/7 NOC which is manned by trained professionals with Microsoft and Cisco qualifications.

C4L is now in its 10th trading year and with a track record of 100% growth every year its client base includes Government, FTSE 250, financial institutions and many of the UK’s network carriers. The business is committed to customer satisfaction and quality of service and has achieved certifications such as ISO9001 & 27001.

Leading IT Infrastructure solutions provider C4L Commences Phase Two of Bournemouth data centre

(PRWEB) October 18, 2011

C4L, a UK-based IT infrastructure solutions provider, is pleased to announce it has commenced the build of phase two at its Bournemouth data centre. The facility is being built to a Tier 2+ specification, and once complete will be one of the largest data centres in the South West. The expansion of the Bournemouth data centre will provide an additional 120 racks / 3,000 square feet of space, increasing capacity by two-thirds.

Internet infrastructure is becoming increasingly important as more and more organisations become heavily reliant on online services and connectivity in order to run their business, said Matt Hawkins, managing director of C4L. With the adoption of cloud computing increasing and more and more applications and services being delivered away from organisations own premises, we experienced a high level of demand for phase one of the Bournemouth data centre. So much so that the site reached full capacity within the first six months of it opening. The high level of demand for colocation space at the Bournemouth facility has prompted us to commence phase two of the build earlier than anticipated. The facility benefits from exceptionally low latency and excellent resilience as it’s connected to our private network, making it an ideal outside of London colocation facility. The Bournemouth data centre is being built to Tier 2+ specifications and at this site we can offer a wide range of IT services.

Phase two of the Bournemouth data centre will feature N+1 redundancy on power and cooling, as well as backup generators which will take the full load of the building should a mains power failure occur. At the facility, Riello will provide high energy efficiency via uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems, whilst Airedale is to provide the sites cooling systems. Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) supplies full smoke, fire detection and fire suppression systems. The buildings air conditioning will use direct expansion based cooling technology coupled with C4L’s cold aisle cooling practises to ensure maximum efficiency.

C4Ls Bournemouth data centre will have the latest advanced triple level security features, including a biometric entry system with a man trap, as well as pin code swipe cards and full 24/7 digital CCTV. The Bournemouth data centre, once completed, will be able to offer colocation space; including quarter, half and full racks up to 32 Amp dual feeds as standard. The Bournemouth data centre will also benefit from high levels of monitoring on power and cooling, ensuring maximum resilience at the site.

C4L is a data centre, internet and connectivity services provider. As well as owning a high speed fibre network, C4L has a presence in over 40 data centres across the UK and Europe. C4L provides its customers with an all encompassing solution, offering huge cost savings, greater innovation and peace of mind, with a minimum SLA of 99.95%.

C4L Opens Doors to New 100% Green Bournemouth Data Centre

(PRWEB) June 06, 2012

Data centre and connectivity services provider C4L today announced the opening of its newly upgraded Bournemouth data centre. The site provides 5,000 square feet of space, able to house 180 racks of IT equipment. The data centre itself is certified as being 100% powered by green energy, as well as using additional techniques to further reduce its energy usage. As a result, C4L can ascertain that its data centre is producing the lowest possible amount of carbon emissions as well as providing IT resources for potentially hundreds of businesses.

In the 21st century, everything is at a premium, said Matt Hawkins, MD of C4L. From finances to space, computing power, expertise and energy: IT departments must use each of these to its fullest potential in order to succeed. Our Bournemouth data centre helps them to do just that. Technology can be colocated here, reducing capital expenditure and maintenance costs whilst freeing up physical space in organisations own premises. At the same time, everyday maintenance and management is carried out on-site meaning that IT staff can concentrate on the issues that really matter, such as performance and security. By combining our efficient power usage with a data centres economy of scale and 100% green energy, organisations can be sure that their technology is using the minimum of power and is responsible for the minimum of carbon emissions.

C4Ls data centre is certified as using 100% green energy, provided through EDF. By avoiding traditional fossil fuels and instead using sources such as renewables, C4L is ensuring that its data centre is responsible for the minimum amount of carbon emissions for its size. At the same time the data centre itself uses techniques such as a cold aisle cooling containment and CRAC units with multiple stages of cooling, to make sure that it is using the minimum amount of power: this further reduces both emissions and energy costs. As a result, the data centre is to a great extent future-proofed against potential carbon emissions legislation.

Customers can choose multiple, full, half or quarter racks from the 180 in the data centre, allowing the site to cater for businesses of all sizes and needs. It connects directly to C4Ls own private fibre network, meaning that users will receive high-speed connections, low latency and high resiliency when accessing their IT services. Its power and cooling systems have full redundancy built in, so that the data centre can keep operating even in the event of a problem with one or both systems. In addition it has full smoke and fire detection and fire suppression systems to protect customers valuable IT resources. These resources are also under tight physical security: a biometric entry system with a man trap, PIN code swipe cards, digital CCTV and on-site security all ensure that the data centre is under constant guard.

Traditionally, London has been seen as the Mecca of data centres thanks to its central location and high levels of internet connectivity, continued Matt Hawkins. However, thanks to controlling our own fibre line we can offer customers in our Bournemouth data centre the same level of connectivity and service that they would expect in the capital, without paying a London premium for the privilege. As the UKs communications infrastructure improves, we can expect to see more and more data centres develop across the nation. For our part C4L is proud to be driving data centre development in the South of England, providing a business boost for the region whilst also ensuring that we arent adding to the areas carbon economy as well as its financial economy.
