eLynx Introduces an Enhanced GPS-enabled Alarming Device for Oil & Gas Industry

Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) August 15, 2012

Tulsa-based eLynx Technologies, the leading provider of web-based monitoring and field automation services to the oil and gas industry, introduces an enhanced GPS capable version of the i4D to the market.

The i4D is a four-input discrete alarming device that uses Iridiums global satellite network for its communication, so it can be used in even the most remote locations where cellular coverage may be intermittent or even non-existent.

Recent applications of the device included monitoring run status and providing a key metric of run time averages for mobile equipment such as oilfield compressors and generators. Now, this new GPS-enabled version provides users with a real-time location as well. The location information is automatically sent to eLynx and can be populated into the SCADALynx mapping tool.

The i4D antenna only has to have a view of the open sky in order to communicate status changes associated with compressors, tank levels, pumps, and any other well site equipment. Real-time alarm notifications are then transmitted to operators via text, email or voice callout, with minimal latency.

Reliability is critical with alarming devices. The i4D has two built-in features that enable operators to rely on it for their critical alarming needs. The device will transmit a signal once a week to let you know it is functioning and the device will send its battery level every time it transmits data.

Where critical alarms have to get through to the operators, the i4D has proven to be an excellent solution, noted Ray McDaniel, Manager of Sales Engineering for eLynx. The addition of GPS, which was prompted by customer demand, really broadens the potential applications for this exception based alarming device.

About eLynx

Since 2000, eLynx Technologies has provided real-time data collection, production reporting, trending, well monitoring and control via the Internet for the oil and gas industry. The company services more than 300 exploration and production companies and operates throughout North America, covering all major basins. Headquartered in Tulsa, eLynx has support offices throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, North Dakota, West Virginia as well as a Canadian subsidiary located in Calgary, Alberta.

Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA (PRWEB) December 17, 2012 GL Communications Inc. announced today the release of its enhanced PacketCheck – a Software Based Ethernet Tester. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Vijay Kulkarni CEO of the company said, GL’s enhanced PacketCheck is a complete PC based Ethernet / IP test tool with BERT, Throughput, Delay, and Impairment testing functions. It is very easy to use as a general-purpose network performance analysis tool for 10Mbps, 100Mbps and 1Gbps LANs and WANs. Throughput up to 800 Mbps can be easily tested. He explained new feature introduced, PacketCheck applications One-Way Delay – [within the same PC] is defined as the time a packet takes to travel from source to destination. It determines One-way Delay – [within the same PC] measurements between two NIC cards on a single PC with 2 instances of PacketCheck running, one on each NIC card in microsecond accuracy. The feature Stacked VLAN allows different hosts to be a part of the same virtual LAN irrespective of their physical location. A group of hosts connected to the same switch can be partitioned into several VLANs, or a group of hosts connected to different switches can be combined into a single VLAN. Stacked MPLS feature supports stacked MPLS layers up to 3 levels, customizable with headers like Label, CoS, TTL. The application now supports True Bit error rate testing (BERT) on layer 1, layer 2, layer 2.5, layer 3, and layer 4 with various measurements – Bit Error Rate, Sync Loss Count, Bit Error Count, and more. Its capability to generate/respond to ARP requests making it easy to work with Routers. ARP packets are sent to determine the MAC address of the destination. The application supports Common Statistics and Stream Specific Statistics. Common Statistics are stream independent at the NIC card level. These statistics are gathered before stream level statistics processing and these statistics helps user to check if the NIC card is receiving any traffic, and if receiving, if it is non-test traffic i.e. traffic not belonging to any of the configured streams. Stream Specific Statistics provide per stream measurement of throughput, round trip delay (RTD), one way delay (OWD)- [within the same PC], total packets, packet loss, out of sequence frames, error frames, correct pattern frames, pattern sync status, bit error rate, sync loss count, error count etc. Report generation feature now supports both XML and PDF formats. Reports include information such as the Statistics, Configuration Information, NIC card details, Stream Statistics, Common Statistics, VLAN, MPLS, etc with customizable headers and footers. Users can include their comments and logo in the report. Mr. Kulkarni further added, We hope our enhanced PacketCheck provides immense value in software based Ethernet testing and its user community.
