GL Conveys the Availability of its PoS (Packet over SONET) Protocol Analyzer for OC-3 STM-1 and OC-12 STM-4

Gaithersburg, Maryland (PRWEB) April 12, 2012

GL Communications Inc. a leader in providing PC-based test, analysis and simulation products and consulting services to the worldwide telecommunications industry, conveyed today the availability of its product PoS (Packet over SONET) Protocol Analyzer for OC-3 STM-1 and OC-12 STM-4.

Speaking to media persons, Mr. Vijay Kulkarni CEO of the company said, The PoS (Packet over SONET) Protocol Analyzer captures a host of PoS protocols exchanged between the two nodes over SONET & provides useful analysis, which includes distribution of protocols, protocol fields, frame lengths, and frame status. User can obtain detailed analysis of the protocol and can perform various statistics measurements.

He added, GL’s PoS protocol analyzer supports analysis of Point-to-point protocol (PPP) which is a link layer protocol, which encapsulates other network layer protocols like IP for transmission on synchronous and asynchronous communications lines. Today the PPP protocol standard finds wide use in synchronous connections between LANs, bridges, routers and other intermediate devices. Two major features of PPP protocol are: Authentication and Encapsulation of higher layer protocols.

GL conveys the availability of its RTP ToolBox RTP Packet Testing And Simulation Tool

Gaithersburg, Maryland (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA -April 30, 2012- GL Communications Inc. a leader in providing PC-based test, analysis and simulation products and consulting services to the worldwide telecommunications industry, conveyed today the availability of its RTP ToolBox product software.

Speaking to media persons, Mr. Karthik Ramalingam Senior Manager of the company said, GL’s RTP ToolBox is a RTP packet testing and simulation tool, which is designed not only to monitor RTP and RTCP packets, but also to allow users to manually create and terminate RTP sessions, independent of call-signaling protocols such as SIP, H323, MEGACO, or MGCP.

He added, The RTP ToolBoxTM can be used for testing and developing enhanced voice features (VAD, echo cancellation, codec, digit regeneration, digit generation, fax over IP, jitter implementation etc) within end-user equipment (IP phones, ATA, MTA etc), testing media gateway telephony interfaces, end-to-end network testing before and during VoIP deployment, automated testing of digital signal processing embedded into network elements.

GL Announces PacketShark (GbE Packet Capture, Filter and Aggregation Tap)

Gaithersburg, Maryland (PRWEB) September 04, 2012

GL Communications Inc. announced today the release of its product PacketShark A handheld hardware that can tap packet networks and capture Ethernet packets at wire speed.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Robert Bichefsky, Senior Manager of Product Development for the company said, GL’s PacketShark is a portable product that can tap packet networks and capture Ethernet packets at wire speed, i.e., in optical or electrical interfaces up to 1 Gb/s and selectively filter the captured traffic based on specified criteria. Packets are transmitted through two ports and the packets that are traffic compliant with one of the filters is sent to a packet analyzer, such as Wireshark or GL’s PacketScan for detailed packet analysis. Alternatively, the traffic can be even sent to a memory card (SD) and later analyzed offline.

He added, PacketShark is an invaluable tool for on-field simultaneous capturing from two interfaces, analyzing 100% streams without any delays, and filtering/aggregating required packet streams at wire speed. It overcomes most of the limitations of protocol analyzers running on Laptops or PCs that are too slow to capture live Full Duplex traffic at wire speed. It is generally preferred over “mirror” ports and traditional “taps” in providing aggregated traffic output and mobility.

Mr. Bichefsky further added, PacketSharksupports all the features of high-end taps in a small, battery operated instrument, weighing less than 1.2 kg, and providing mobility and storage capacity to reach any point in the network. It provides INSTANT ON features – no PC required.
