De-Duplication, Compression and No Double Backups Required: AppAssure Releases the Fastest and Most Scalable Backup & Recovery Solution for Microsoft Hyper-V

Reston, VA (PRWEB) April 7, 2010

AppAssure Software today released version 4.3 of Replay, the award-winning, next generation backup and disaster recovery software solution. Because Replay performs a single application-aware snapshot spanning the entire host machine and an unlimited number of guest machines in a Hyper-V environment, customers experience the fastest backup and restore process of the entire host, individual virtual machines or specific files within virtual machines compared to traditional backup and disaster recovery technologies.

“Other backup and recovery solutions simply didn’t scale as well as AppAssure’s Replay,” said Brendan Hourihan, technology services network engineer at Flagler College in St. Augustine FL. “Before we switched to Replay, we were consuming 9.6TB of backup storage space every two weeks. Now with Replay, we’ve used just over 1.5TB in the same time period, saving 84% storage space due to Replay’s advanced de-duplication and compression. That translated into a savings of several thousand dollars per year to our organization. That’s a very real ROI.”

While there’s undeniable movement away from agent-based backup in virtual machines, people are expanding their view of backup to encompass data protection as a whole, whether that means recovering an individual file or mailbox message, to replicating entire hosts at an disaster recovery site, said Chris Wolf, a senior analyst at the Burton Group.

Because traditional backup and recovery solutions require separate backup and recovery processes for Hyper-V host machines and each individual guest server, restoring a server or the entire environment can take several hours.

In contrast, AppAssures Replay 4 performs a single application-aware snapshot spanning the entire host machine and an unlimited number of guest machines, enabling a much faster backup and restore. In addition, companies can implement Replay 4 on a host machine and all guests through a single license, dramatically reducing backup and recovery costs in Hyper-V environments.

AppAssures approach to backup and disaster recovery of virtual machines running Hyper-V is extremely innovative, said Greg Shields, Founding Partner, Concentrated Technology and Microsoft MVP. Any organization leveraging Microsofts Hyper-V virtualization technology can benefit greatly from implementing Replay 4 as their backup and disaster recovery solution.

Customers using AppAssures Replay in Hyper-V environments experience the following benefits:

Inc. Magazine Ranks AppAssure as Fastest Growing Backup and Data Replication Company Nationwide with 3,450% Growth in Three Years

Reston, VA (PRWEB) August 29, 2011

AppAssure Software, leading developer of backup and disaster recovery software products for mission-critical Windows application servers, today announced that Inc. Magazine has ranked the company as the fastest growing company among all backup and data replication firms nationwide in the 2011 Inc. 500 list.

Based on overall revenue growth between 2007 and 2010, the Inc. 500 ranks the 500 fastest growing US companies across all industries. AppAssures 3-year growth rate of 3,450 percent placed the company high on this years list, well within the top 100, landing in position number 62 among all US companies spanning every industry.

Among US software companies across all technologies, AppAssure ranked in the top seven. No other backup and data replication software firm outpaced AppAssures growth rate, placing the company in the number one position as compared to its direct competitors. By comparison, traditional data replication vendors in the industry such as Symantec, Commvault and FalconStor all failed to grow by as little as five percent last quarter, compared to previous sequential quarters.

The company attributes its extreme growth to the demand for server failure recovery in minutes with AppAssures software rather than taking hours or days using traditional recovery products. Major clients such as AppRiver can attest not only to AppAssures total server recovery speed, but also its flexibility to recover with any degree of granularity in minutes, even individual mail items.

With more than 45,000 corporate customers around the globe, its important to retrieve messages accurately and efficiently so that we can better serve our clients, said Justin Allen, server engineer, AppRiver. Replays disaster discovery solution allows us to do just that.

Todays recognition by Inc. Magazine is the latest in a series of recent independent testimonies to the companys success:
