BlueBackUp Revolutionises Disaster Recovery by Introducing an Affordable DR Plan for Businesses

Brussels (PRWEB) July 11, 2009

Implementing a business recovery plan can be both complex and costly. Also, in the light of the current economic crisis, it comes a no surprise to learn that almost 50% of companies employing between 100 and 1,000 staff prefer not to invest in a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan.

There can be a number of reasons for this: the cost of investment may be too high, the business may lack infrastructure or be short of qualified staff. Also, by calling on a company that specialises in DR that also supplies backup offices and hardware, businesses are still ultimately responsible for the most critical part of the recovery process: rebuilding their servers and IT data.

BlueBackUp’s new Disaster Recovery offering represents a highly attractive alternative for companies that do not have the budget or infrastructure needed to establish a full DRP.

1) How does the BlueBackUp Disaster Recovery Plan work?

If there is a server crash or serious incident in the office, the customer’s data is restored on physical/virtual servers at BlueBackUp’s data centre (DR site).
During the time it takes for new servers to become operational, the customer can connect remotely (via a VPN connection) to the DR site, where its critical applications will have been restored. This enables customers to restart their business within a very short space of time (3, 12, 24, 48 hours, etc.).
BlueBackUp can also make backup offices and hardware available to companies that need them.
Unlike other Disaster Recovery providers, BlueBackUp takes responsibility for rebuilding the customer’s applications – which represents a genuine added value in comparison with conventional DR services.

2) What are the main benefits of BlueBackUp compared with a conventional DRP?

Business operations are back up and running within a very short space of time should disaster strike, plus greater flexibility of service : in cases where customers are already backing up their data at our data centres, BlueBackUp is in the ideal position to help them recover their data very quickly. Customers can choose the actual amount of time it takes to restart their business.
No need to worry about the maintenance and cost of a disaster recovery site or finding replacement hardware : Emergency spare servers are maintained by BlueBackUp at its own data centre. BlueBackUp handles the task of finding backup offices for customers who need it.
Unlike conventional Disaster Recovery Plans, it is BlueBackUp itself that takes charge of the entire procedure of rebuilding data.
Customers can also test the disaster recovery plan with a few mouse-clicks so that they are ready should disaster strike one day.

“Being able to guarantee business continuity should a major problem occur is a real worry for companies”. explains Philip Wittmann, BlueBackUp’s founder. “But not at any price – especially in the current economic climate. With BlueBackUp and by combining backup and Disaster Recovery, every company can now protect itself against these serious risks, as well as implement a Business Continuity Plan that will deliver unbeatable value for money, whatever its size and scope.”

BlueBackUp is the first online backup service to offer its customers a complete Disaster Recovery solution. And by expanding its offering even further in the wake of the recent launch of exclusive data restoration tools, BlueBackUp clearly intends to set the benchmark by positioning itself as THE specialist in protecting IT data.

DynaSis IT Services Prepares Businesses for Data Loss and More: Business Continuity Plans Increase Survivability after Disaster

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 30, 2009

DynaSis, a technology managed service provider, is now offering business continuity plans to help small to medium sized businesses prepare for emergencies such as natural disaster, network crashes, or theft of business data. Unlike enterprises, many smaller companies cannot afford optimal in-house strategies and solutions. These companies are consequently at an elevated risk of being put out of business due to any major loss of data. A business continuity plan goes beyond offsite data backup and recovery and gives businesses a strategy detailing actions that will be taken after a crisis so the business can remain as functional as possible.

A key component of a business continuity plan is of course making sure critical documents and data are digitized or copied and stored off site, but the plan encompasses much more. Aspects businesses may not have considered include doing visual walkthroughs of facilities at least once a year to look for deficiencies, as well as making sure the business has sufficient business interruption insurance to cover the cost of operations for at least 60 days with no income. Other areas of concern consist of communications with employees in the event of phone system or Internet outages and creating a plan in case key employees can’t perform their duties or quit suddenly. Maintaining a list of emergency vendors as well as securing an alternative place to conduct business if the primary facility is unavailable are also details the plan would include.

DynaSis President David Moorman said, “Our goal is always to be a value added provider in the eyes of our clients. For this reason, we go beyond being just your IT repair guy. Protecting your data is half the battle, but when a crisis hits, you also have to think about what you are going to do to get back up to speed. What a business does in the first four hours after an emergency often determines how well they can bounce back.”

With 87% of companies that lose access to their corporate data for more than 7 days going out of business within a year and less than 5% of non-regulated businesses having a business continuity plan, and the need for business continuity planning services is real and the benefits to clients are immediate and long-term. Benefits realized after completing a business continuity/disaster recovery plan include competitive advantage, insurance savings, efficiency savings, improved processes, increased stockholder value and peace of mind.

Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) October 5, 2009 — DataChambers, a North Carolina-based technology firm, today introduced a new online backup service tailored for the needs of small to midsized businesses. eChambers Intelligent Data Protection is designed to automatically back up valuable databases and files that can be critical to a company’s survival.

“Information is the lifeblood of most businesses and impacts their ability to deliver seamless service to customers,” says Nicholas Kottyan, CEO of DataChambers. “That makes backups a critical tool for business continuity and disaster recovery. With eChambers, we offer small to midsized firms a level of protection typically available only to much larger businesses, but at a price they can afford.”

LocalITCompanies.com now Helping Chicago, Dallas and Houston Businesses Find Pre-Screened IT Companies

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 11, 2010

It seems most business owners are entrenched in their own day to day business building operations and the thought of hiring a full-time staff to support their IT growth is not feasible. However, ignoring such services can cause a company to go out of business. LocalITCompanies.com has been launched to serve as a vital resource for companies looking to enhance their IT support.

Now serving the Chicago, Dallas and Houston metropolitan areas, Local IT Companies is currently expanding its market. All IT companies in their network are required to provide three current customer references who have been working with them for at least one year.

Local IT Companies highlights the most important IT services and reasons why it is crucial for every business to have these services in place.

Disaster Recovery

Having a disaster recovery pla n for a business is almost like having an umbrella on a rainy day. When it rains, there is no doubt one will get wet, but with an umbrella, the chances of getting soaked are mitigated. The same idea applies to a solid disaster recovery plan. Sure, there may be some down time, but having a plan in place will allow a business to continue to flow.

It is estimated that most large companies spend between 2 and 4 percent of their IT budget on disaster recovery planning, with the aim of avoiding larger losses in the event that the business cannot continue to function due to loss of IT infrastructure and data. Of companies that had a major loss of business data, 43 percent never reopen, 51 percent close within two years and only six percent will survive in the long-term. *This results in a majority of failed businesses.

Network Security

For most small businesses and medium sized companies, a security strategy may consist of a network firewall and some anti-virus software (that might even be outdated). While that may have been suitable years ago, Local IT Companies highly recommends a network security strategy that is multi-layered with various backup plans. All companies are connected to the Internet, and this alone makes them vulnerable to computer hackers and password crackers, network attacks, malware downloads from unscrupulous websites, as well as the risk of using insecure browsing and viruses sent via e-mail.

Network Monitoring

Businesses are monitored in terms of bottom line, sales, product inventory, etc. All companies should have IT specialists that are there to remotely monitor their network so they can have peace of mind and the ability to focus on their business. Local IT Companies stresses the importance of the 24/7 monitoring of critical devices and support from anywhere in the world, no matter what time of day, with offsite remote monitoring and onsite support.

Remote network monitoring allows qualified technicians to anticipate or identify issues before they become major problems for a company’s network.

VoIP

A business’ phone system is critical to how it communicates and functions. More and more companies of all sizes are shifting to VoIP (Voice-over Internet Protocol) communication systems. For many companies in the Chicago, Dallas, and Houston markets, especially service-based firms reliant on technology, VoIP calling packages not only improve the cost of doing business, but can change the manner in which a company does business, dramatically increasing the size of their potential market as well as increasing efficiencies throughout the company.

Whether a company currently has a small staff of IT personnel in place and needs some assistance with its IT infrastructure upgrades or just need to bring someone on board part-time or in an outsourced capacity, all companies need to be prepared to stay in business by utilizing local IT companies.

Local IT Companies has locations in Dallas, Houston and Chicago (headquarters). For more information, a representative can be reached at 877-500-0905 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by mail at 230 S. Clark St. Suite 120 Chicago, IL 60604 or online at http://www.localitcompanies.com.

Utropicmedia Now Offers Enterprise-Grade Server Colocation Services for Businesses, International Datacenters

Detroit, MI (PRWEB) June 21, 2010

Utropicmedia (http://utropicmedia.net), which specializes in web services and data distribution solutions, now offers enterprise server colocation services so that businesses with critical IT operations can save time and resources while improving their IT performance and value.

A business with 24/7 operations is highly dependent on its servers to provide consistent uptime, even if its core business is not IT-related. Yet the cost of a dedicated server in terms of investment in capital equipment and staffing expenses can be daunting. Cutting corners by using the less expensive option of shared hosting is not viable for a number of reasons, most importantly the lack of security and reliability.

With server colocation, Utropicmedia offers another alternative that provides the high levels of security and reliability that small businesses need, yet eliminates the cost of purchasing expensive server hardware and software, as well as hiring, training and maintaining an in-house staff of IT professionals.

Businesses get the performance benefits of on-site equipment without the expense, and also receive the savings and reliability of having a professional IT facility maintain and monitor the equipment.

To guarantee that level of reliability, the potential for natural disasters like floods, hurricanes and earthquakes must be taken into consideration. Their impact on server performance is a real concern for small businesses.

But since the main global colocation datacenter for Utropicmedia is in Detroit Michigan an area that is geographically stable and not prone to natural disasters the risk is significantly reduced. The only provider that supplies access to additional datacenters in more than 50 countries assures redundancy in addition to the Michigan Colocation hub.

Some of the systems that Utropicmedia uses to ensure reliability, for example, are multiple premium backbone providers via proactive BGP4, a CicsoTM,-powered redundant core network, facility UPS with DC power plant, backup generator with priority fuel contract and redundant HVAC. Security features include 24

X-ISS is First to Launch Cutting-Edge, Combined On-Site and Cloud Remote Backup and Recovery System Affordable to Small Businesses in Houston

Houston, TX (PRWEB) July 29, 2010

X-ISS, a leading provider of expert IT support and disaster recovery planning services for small to medium businesses (SMBs) in Greater Houston, has announced the launch of a unique, cost-effective solution that makes data backup and recovery faster, easier and more secure than most systems commonly used. .

The X-ISS back-up and recovery system is the first affordable total solution to be offered to small and medium businesses in the Houston market combining the convenience of local on-site backup with the protection of remote support which utilizes the latest in cloud-based technology. This combined approach overcomes the limitations and hassles commonly associated with other local and remote forms of backup and recovery.

Many small to medium businesses still use tapes for backup that they then store at an off-site location each night, says Deepak Khosla, President of X-ISS. With our new combined system, not only will they be able to eliminate the costs of hardware, labor and storage necessary when using tape based systems, but theyll receive a whole new level of data protection and ease of recovery to which they dont currently have access.

The new X-ISS combined on-site/cloud remote backup solution offers a host of features that are critical to delivering a best in class system for businesses who rely upon their data. These features include automatic backup of all data changes to both local and redundant secure remote devices as often as every fifteen minutes. They also include the ability to easily retrieve previous versions of documents including files that have been deleted, overwritten or corrupted on the local device. In addition, the X-ISS on-site/remote backup system offers hassle-free data recovery, with no complex hardware or software, that allows recovery in minutes of what used to often take hours or days with other types of systems.

One of the systems unique benefits is that if a business is struck by a disaster that destroys their on-site device, they can be operating as normal the next morning with a new, fully operational on-site device containing all of their latest data that’s been delivered to them overnight. For those whose businesses can’t afford even a moment of downtime, the X-ISS backup system offers an optional capability to seamlessly transform into a virtual server with complete capabilities and data integrity while the local server is being restored. “For businesses which currently use web-based remote backup systems, it can take days or weeks to become fully operational again after a major disaster,” says Khosla. “Our new system speeds the recovery time.”

The new X-ISS combined on-site/cloud remote back-up system is completely secure with both encrypted data communication and storage, and includes 24/7 assistance and proactive monitoring by a team of highly experienced technical experts.

Were excited to be able to offer Houston businesses a better backup and recovery solution featuring the latest technology and providing the best in data protection and ease of use, says Khosla. Were particularly proud were able to offer this at a price thats affordable to small businesses, and in many cases at equal to or less than the costs they are investing in inferior backup tapes and other solutions.

Ohio Businesses Get Paper and Paperless Document Management with Help from Team Office Technologies

Portland, OR (PRWEB) September 2, 2010

Team Office Technologies, a long-time provider of integrated printing and information technology services in Ohio and western Pennsylvania, is now helping businesses in the region manage their documents electronically using document management software. Team Office recently joined a network of technology firms offering ColumbiaSofts Document Locator document management system for their customers paperless business needs.

“Were bridging technologies for a comprehensive approach to managing information. We can process and file scanned documents, email, electronic files and print stream data,” said Thomas Reeveley, president of Team Office Technologies. “Document Locator is a perfect fit for our clients because it turns paper into full-text searchable digital files that are stored in a system that is easy to use and works just like Windows.”

“Team Offices expertise in all forms of information management and office technologies makes them a trusted authority for our document management solutions,” commented ColumbiaSoft executive vice president, David Pogue. “Were very pleased to be working with them and helping their customers address ways to improve storage, retrieval, and automation of electronic documents.”

“Businesses are looking for new ways to manage their paper and electronic documents,” said Bryan Higgins, software developer and vice president of Team Office Technologies. “Document Locators custom integration capabilities allow us to develop custom document management and workflow processes for our clients.”

While few businesses achieve a truly paperless office, electronic document management is lowering the cost in many areas of business, and helping improve the efficiency of office staff who file and retrieve documents in their daily work. For example, storage and shipping costs less when documents are scanned and handled digitally. People save time retrieving electronic documents because files can be searched and found from a computer much faster than from a filing cabinet or a warehouse. Plus, electronic documents can be routed, reviewed, revised, and approved more easily in electronic workflows.

Hurricane Earl Reminds Businesses to Hurricane Proof Their Business with VoiceNation

(PRWEB) September 03, 2010

Buford, GA (PRWEB) September 3, 2010 — The last major hurricane to come this close to North Carolina’s Outer Banks was Hurricane Isabel in 2003. At which time VoiceNation was contracted by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina to host its phone lines in the event that communications were to go down due to the hurricane. VoiceNation was contacted by the company to prepare five toll free phone numbers for the health care provider. Blue Cross more than 3,000 employees dialed in via the disaster recovery lines to keep apprised of information and instructions. The companys executives were able to connect with one of VoiceNation’s local data centers in North Carolina where calls could be handled by VoiceNation’s Raleigh answering service.

As expected all phone communication was lost in the area. Fortunately they had planned ahead to have their calls come through VoiceNation. Had they not had a back-up plan in place their recovery efforts would have come to a screeching halt.

VoiceNation, the premier provider of hosted voicemail, virtual pbx and answering service, announced today the results of a study that exposed shortfalls in most companies disaster recovery planning regarding critical voice communications. The result is that many organizations risk severe financial hardship and business disruption in the face of a disaster, natural or otherwise. Key findings included:

Us DataVault, Leader in Remote Disaster Recovery for Small Businesses, Breaks the 10tb Mark with Robobak Cloud Backup Software

Nashville, TN (Vocus/PRWEB) November 30, 2010

US DataVault, a leader in providing offsite backup services, disaster recovery planning and implementation services to small and medium-sized businesses, announced today that it has broken the 10TB data protection mark.

Coupled with compression and at the source de-duplication provided by the ROBOBAK cloud backup solution, Im able to store my customers data using a fraction of the space on our high-end disks. At the source de-duplication allows efficient utilization of bandwidth by only transferring what has actually changed, said Marc Shaffer, US DataVaults president and chief executive officer.

Data de-duplication, described as the process of reducing duplication in data transfers prior to moving it over the wire by comparing differential changes in data, is a technology that can significantly reduce costs associated with data storage in the cloud; first, by the reduction in bandwidth required by only transferring blocks that have changed; and second, by reducing I/O and space on the storage cluster and storing only what is changed.

Rather than transferring the full file any time there have been incremental changes, ROBOBAK identifies the specific blocks of data that have been modified, so backups only transfer changed blocks instead of the mass file.

We wouldnt put our name on the product unless we trusted it explicitly. ROBOBAK has repeatedly proven to be effective and reliable, Shaffer said, noting that US DataVault has branded the ROBOBAK suite as its own for marketing purposes. ROBOBAK forms the base of our core product. Were sold on it, he added.

As Hurricane Season Approaches, Businesses Rely on ilands Cloud-Based Disaster Recovery Solution Using Dell EqualLogic SANs

Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 10, 2011

June 1 marks the beginning of hurricane season 2011. The U.S. is projected to have one of the most active hurricane seasons to date and as a result, businesses are enlisting disaster recovery services to protect business-critical data.

iland, a cloud-computing, infrastructure-as-a-service provider, has delivered a cloud-based disaster recovery solution for vehicle remarketing provider Fleet Lease Disposal, Inc. (FLD) using Dell EqualLogic SANs and VMware virtualization. In preparation for the impending hurricane season, FLD recently conducted a second failover test whereby the total time for replication was cut dramatically.

In FLDs test failover process, iland helped the company determine what components were unique to its infrastructure. For example, FLD learned that certain people within the company would need access to certain controls. IT staff also fine-tuned firewall settings within the infrastructure. Streamlining the process was something that had been addressed in the initial test and consequently, promoted an even faster failover in the subsequent test.

The best part about working on the Dell EqualLogic SANs within the iland cloud environment is that we can conduct failover tests without affecting our production environment. Its one less thing we have to worry about, said Santiago Ramirez, CIO of FLD. Customers didnt notice a difference and the entire process took less than 20 minutes. It was a seamless transition.

iland has established a high level of expertise in using Dell EqualLogic in testing and actual environments. FLD was able to save 3 hours and 28 minutes during its first test failover because of ilands ability to quickly bring the replicated environment online32 minutes, instead of the 4 hours it had previously taken. In the subsequent test, cutover time was cut by an additional 12 minutes. In the case of a disaster, FLDs business-critical data could be accessible in less than a half hour. With Dell EqualLogic SANs as the backbone of ilands Continuity Cloud solution, iland and FLD were able to utilize Dell EqualLogics integrated failback feature to quickly synchronize the Continuity Cloud site back to FLDs production site.

We actually didnt need any modifications to the process when we conducted another test. Everything we needed to know, we learned early on. iland had taken the guesswork out of what we needed to do in case of a disaster. It was a simple and efficient process.

Prior to moving its disaster recovery plan to the cloud, FLD used a backup site in New Jersey that housed 15 physical servers. The software replication solution the company used supported Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange and file services only. All other backups were performed manually at corporate and shipped on USB drives to the New Jersey site every two weeks. This process took two days to prepare and then had to be manually configured when it arrived.

FLD is still saving on its IT budget year over year and benefitting from Dell EqualLogic data replication. Current projections indicate that the company will save $ 320,000 over a three year period. This includes a 90% reduction in New Jersey related staff time, $ 30,000 in software costs, $ 40,000 in internet access costs, over 1,470 man hours and over $ 250,000 in hardware costs by avoiding a technology upgrade and shutting down FLDs remote New Jersey office. The company ultimately has complete control over its virtual environment and failovers can be done from anywhere, including a home office.

ilands EqualLogic-based service allows customers who own Dell EqualLogic SANs to replicate their data to any of its six geographically-dispersed clouds in the United States and United Kingdom. Customers can store a copy of their data off-site or contract out for standby cloud compute resources, guaranteed to be available in case of a disaster.

Through the use of Social Lifts social media contact center services, companies will be able to better handle the mentions, engagements and brand reputation of their company online, allowing them to allocate their resources elsewhere, while also ensuring that their customers needs and questions are being met and answered appropriately.

Social Lift was created by Dialogue Marketing when the company saw room for a third-party social media contact center to build the customer experience by handling customer service and proactive engagement online on behalf of brands. When the service was officially launched in November 2010, it quickly became a flagship product for Dialogue Marketing.

As a result of the programs achievements, President Lauren Ziskie was recently recognized as one of the 20 in their 20s by Crains Detroit Business. Ziskie started at Dialogue Marketing in 2007 as an intern. She quickly saw the need to expand the call centers business services to include a social media contact center to reach a younger demographic that was transitioning into adults roles with adult purchasing power.

Younger people dont want to call a company and deal with its automated phone service, Ziskie said. Theyd rather send in a text or a tweet.

Her persistence within the company led to the creation of the social media contact center Social Lift, Ziskies own division that is considered the most profitable unit within the $ 31 million company and a major growth source for Dialogue Marketing Inc.

NextVault Gives Away Free Online Data Backup to Small and Medium Sized Businesses

Sudbury, MA (PRWEB) November 03, 2011

NextVault, a leading provider of online data backup, archiving and disaster recovery services, announced Free Online Data Backup for the rest of 2011 for small and medium sized (SMB) businesses.

We sympathize with the SMB markets challenges during this tough economy, said Kevin Harris, CEO and President of NextVault. Being a small business ourselves, we are on the ground and in the trenches with them and understand how the economic downturn has forced the SMB to change so much. We hope providing free service for the rest of the year will offer some relief to businesses who have been putting off proper online data protection, fearing the inability to afford it.

SMBs are at a high risk for data loss and business interruptions because they have limited resources available to focus on anything but their core business function. Add that to the challenging economy and additional pressures on the SMB owner these days and good data backup is never found near the top of the priority list.

This is our own stimulus plan to help SMBs through the American economic recovery. We feel strongly that if businesses know their key asset, their data, is well protected, they can stay focused on delivering their products and services to help rebound the economy and rest easy knowing they will be recoverable if they suffer from some unfortunate event, Harris said. With the economic future so uncertain, one thing they can be certain about is free online data backup from NextVault for the rest of the year.

About NextVault:

NextVault is a leading provider of online data backup, archiving and recovery solutions. As an innovative service provider they offer comprehensive and affordable solutions to small, medium, and large sized businesses. Through their network of partners, resellers and data centers, NextVault promises secure online backup and fast access to data in the event of loss or disaster, tailored to the needs of any business in todays uncertain world. BUMI Launches Cloud Disaster Recovery Solution for Downtime-Intolerant Businesses

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 23, 2012

BUMI (Backup My Info!), the premium provider of managed online backup and recovery solutions for small to mid-sized businesses, today announced the availability of BUMI Cloud Recovery (BCR), a disaster recovery solution that allows companies to restore their servers into BUMIs secure virtual environment within a short period of time after a systemic failure.

We have been a BUMI client since May of 2005 and have always been impressed with their service level and attention to detail, said Joanne Tuckman, CFO of Firebird Management, a Manhattan-based fund management firm. We upgraded to the BCR solution because we wanted a complete and quick failsafe recovery solution in case some kind of disaster took place. We didnt want to order new servers and go through the configuration process in the midst of system-wide failure. With BCR, in case of a disaster, we can be up and running as if nothing happened in less than a day. Thats the ultimate peace of mind.

In order to restore a companys data into this virtual environment, BUMI utilizes their agentless software to take bare-metal backups of all the companys servers. These hardware-independent backups can be restored as virtual servers in BUMIs Toronto datacenter. Once the restored environment is intact, an organizations employees are able to access the network via a virtual desktop from anywhere in the world, provided there is an internet connection.
