BlueBackUp Revolutionises Disaster Recovery by Introducing an Affordable DR Plan for Businesses

Brussels (PRWEB) July 11, 2009

Implementing a business recovery plan can be both complex and costly. Also, in the light of the current economic crisis, it comes a no surprise to learn that almost 50% of companies employing between 100 and 1,000 staff prefer not to invest in a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan.

There can be a number of reasons for this: the cost of investment may be too high, the business may lack infrastructure or be short of qualified staff. Also, by calling on a company that specialises in DR that also supplies backup offices and hardware, businesses are still ultimately responsible for the most critical part of the recovery process: rebuilding their servers and IT data.

BlueBackUp’s new Disaster Recovery offering represents a highly attractive alternative for companies that do not have the budget or infrastructure needed to establish a full DRP.

1) How does the BlueBackUp Disaster Recovery Plan work?

If there is a server crash or serious incident in the office, the customer’s data is restored on physical/virtual servers at BlueBackUp’s data centre (DR site).
During the time it takes for new servers to become operational, the customer can connect remotely (via a VPN connection) to the DR site, where its critical applications will have been restored. This enables customers to restart their business within a very short space of time (3, 12, 24, 48 hours, etc.).
BlueBackUp can also make backup offices and hardware available to companies that need them.
Unlike other Disaster Recovery providers, BlueBackUp takes responsibility for rebuilding the customer’s applications – which represents a genuine added value in comparison with conventional DR services.

2) What are the main benefits of BlueBackUp compared with a conventional DRP?

Business operations are back up and running within a very short space of time should disaster strike, plus greater flexibility of service : in cases where customers are already backing up their data at our data centres, BlueBackUp is in the ideal position to help them recover their data very quickly. Customers can choose the actual amount of time it takes to restart their business.
No need to worry about the maintenance and cost of a disaster recovery site or finding replacement hardware : Emergency spare servers are maintained by BlueBackUp at its own data centre. BlueBackUp handles the task of finding backup offices for customers who need it.
Unlike conventional Disaster Recovery Plans, it is BlueBackUp itself that takes charge of the entire procedure of rebuilding data.
Customers can also test the disaster recovery plan with a few mouse-clicks so that they are ready should disaster strike one day.

“Being able to guarantee business continuity should a major problem occur is a real worry for companies”. explains Philip Wittmann, BlueBackUp’s founder. “But not at any price – especially in the current economic climate. With BlueBackUp and by combining backup and Disaster Recovery, every company can now protect itself against these serious risks, as well as implement a Business Continuity Plan that will deliver unbeatable value for money, whatever its size and scope.”

BlueBackUp is the first online backup service to offer its customers a complete Disaster Recovery solution. And by expanding its offering even further in the wake of the recent launch of exclusive data restoration tools, BlueBackUp clearly intends to set the benchmark by positioning itself as THE specialist in protecting IT data.

The City of Mission Viejo Implements World-Class Disaster Recovery Plan

Irvine, Calif. (PRWEB) August 19, 2009

The city of Mission Viejo recently implemented a new disaster recovery plan using cutting-edge technology to reduce costs, without sacrificing performance and efficiency.

Public safety and disaster preparedness being primary goals for the city, and wanting to continue to provide the most consistent and proficient service to city residents and customers, Mission Viejo city officials decided to employ a new state-of-the-art disaster recovery plan.

Reducing energy consumption and cost, without sacrificing performance and effectiveness, were priorities for Mission Viejo officials. Additionally, in order to optimize their infrastructure, they wanted to consolidate two data centers, which were managed at the same location, and create an environment capable of providing IT staff with the flexibility to accommodate their swiftly growing and changing services.

With the need for an innovative cost efficient solution, the city worked with Govplace for the creation and execution of an improved disaster recovery plan. Govplace, headquartered in Irvine, Calif., has extensive experience with similar challenges at other public sector organizations. Due to their exclusive public sector focus, Govplace was an ideal choice to be able to assess and develop a solution based on the City’s unique needs.

The ultimate solution included consolidating physical servers, upgrading the storage area network (SAN) and establishing a main VMware ESX server farm. Utilizing a combination of virtualization, disk-to-disk backup with de-duplication, and replication technologies, the city of Mission Viejo virtualized 80% of their servers, and now boasts 50% reduction in its data center footprint. The fully replicated environment at the disaster recovery site outside of Orange County will allow the city to continue providing necessary services to citizens and ensure critical taxpayer needs are met in the event of a disaster or emergency.

“Govplace was a great partner, who came up with the right innovative solution for Mission Viejo’s unique needs,” said Jackie Alexander, Director of Information Technology for the city of Mission Viejo, “Their exclusive focus on the public sector was a definite asset to understanding our needs and in designing a solution that best suits us.”

Fastrack Offers Clients Disaster Recovery Plan

Plainview, NY (Vocus) September 30, 2010

Clients of the FASTRACK Healthcare Systems web enabled solutions automatically receive the benefit of a comprehensive disaster recovery plan. Today Fastrack announced the availability of disaster recovery to clients that maintain their own servers to run the Fastrack Home Care applications.

All businesses experience some type of business interruption – whether it be hardware failure, operator error or a malicious attack. The below studies and statistics show that these significant events happen with alarming frequency and that the affects can be devastating to a business.

93% of business that lost their data center for 10 days went bankrupt within one year (National Archives & Records Administration)
43% of companies experiencing disasters never re-open, and 29% close within two years (McGladrey and Pullen)
1 out of 500 data centers will have a major outage each year (McGladrey and Pullen)
80% of all data centers will have one major event every 5 years (Gartner)
Almost 60% of companies incurred significant financial damage in the past year
1 out of 4 organizations had a significant disruption in their computer systems – 25% of those disruptions lasting longer than 24 hours
According to Spencer Kay, President of Fastrack Healthcare Systems, Inc., In our 17 years of operation we have witnessed clients that are running their own servers be the victims of natural disasters such as Katrina, as well as fire, theft and hardware crashes. Fastrack has been able to bail out clients that have good recent back-ups by loading their data into their Web hosted solution. By simply connecting to the Internet providers are up and running virtually instantaneously. Unfortunately many providers fail to insure proper back-up procedures and most still rely on the traditional tape back-up method.

For this reason, Fastrack offers Instant Recovery a service that utilizes a secure on-line connection that automatically backs up the clients data on a regular basis. In the event of a disaster the clients database can be recovered in 60 seconds and Fastrack can provide access over the Internet to its servers.

In 1999 Fastrack became the first software vendor to offer a Web Hosted accessible solution for HME and Home Infusion Pharmacies, eventually expanding to Home Healthcare Agencies. Fastracks secure hosted environment includes:

Fully redundant Internet Providers
Redundant Power Generators with 72 hour capacity
Fire suppression systems
24 hour security monitoring
Automatic data back-up with instant recovery
Fastrack also offers Workgroup Recovery through a business partner that provides a full office or mobile working environment anywhere in North America in the event of a disaster that prevents a client from using their office space. This solution provides computer workstations, printers & fax machines, power, Internet access and call center capabilities.

Fastrack is the leading supplier of software & technology to Home Medical Equipment providers, Durable Medical Equipment, Respiratory Providers, Home Infusion Pharmacies & Home Healthcare Agencies. Only Fastrack offers a solution for each individual segment of Home Care as well as one system encompassing virtually every clinical, operational and financial aspect of a providers business, offering several or all of these product/service lines within one integrated Microsoft SQL database. Do You have an Escape Plan for Your Business Phone System?

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 20, 2011

Vintalk, Vinculum Communications Inc., a global provider of wholesale, business and consumer IP communication services, fully launches its Disaster Recover product after 3 months of successful beta testing.

Vintalk Disaster Recovery product is a remote backup phone system for your business that is an instant, automatic failover. Acting as a standby virtual Private Branch eXchange (PBX), it can mirror your primary phone system and take over if your high speed internet circuit or on-site PBX fails. Not having access to your phone system means you can’t communicate with clients, suppliers or employees. This can potentially cost businesses hundreds to thousands of dollars every minute the phone system is down.

Vintalk Disaster Recovery is our opportunity to provide clients with automatic PBX failover when using our Vintalk Sip Trunking service. Should their PBX suddenly go RNA (Ring No Answer) or ATB (All Trunks Busy), a hosted virtual auto-attendant is triggered to mimic the original PBX auto attendant. Inbound calls are routed to virtual extensions permitting calls to be delivered via cell phones or voice mail messages delivered by email. The goal is to provide automatic failover so our clients customers never even know there is an outage. Kristy Thomas, COO for Vintalk.

Basex, Inc., a leading knowledge research firm, has estimated that a typical 500-person company would lose over $ 90,000 per day without phone system business continuation. A study from the Business Research Institute revealed that of all the recovery points necessary in the event of a disaster, (data loss, employee management, notifications, etc.) 65 percent of businesses surveyed said telecommunications was the weakest link.

“PBX backup is one of the most overlooked aspects of business continuity planning until its too late. Businesses go to great lengths to back up their data, co-locate their servers, and otherwise protect the vital parts of doing business, but forget that their PBX is a large part of what connects them with their customers. Now they have Vintalk Disaster Recovery to help cover that gap. Jayson Jones, VP of Vintalk Channel Sales.

Bridgetown, Barbados (PRWEB) December 21, 2012 The new mobile calendar for things to do in Barbados, WhatsOnInBarbados.com, is not just another calendar. It is designed for the future of mobile travel and solves one of the biggest issues in design and accessibility for the diverse range of devices and platforms for mobile. The problem is that there are hundreds of mobile devices and operating systems. Building native Calendar apps (for an iPhone or an Android app etc) is not always the smartest way to go, as the cost of development and maintenance for all devices is unsustainable for a small team. A web based Calendar is, on the other hand, universally accessible without having to download apps, which can be irritating for travelers who just want to get the news on things to do, now. Websites for mobile, however, are often too general and do not take advantage of the special features and resources of the different platforms and devices. Kathy-Lynn Ward, COO of AXSES (the company behind the BTE) and developer of a range of tourism technology including several other travel apps, says “Using HTML5 and the jQuery has helped us build a smart Calendar platform that can now be tweaked to work with every device with relative modest effort.” What that means is that as new devices come out and old ones change, the smart system simply adapts to them. “It is a hybrid of the native app, like iPhone or Android apps, and a website approach”. says Ward. “The difference is that we program the information about events to display differently for each device and even for each orientation in a device.” It is a lot of work upfront but will save a lifetime of work in the future. Much of the work in monitoring and creating the venues is automated and all of it is checked and approved in house. The release of this app reflects Whats On In Barbados commitment to promoting the many events happening on the island to both locals and visitors. An increasing number of people are using the Whats On In Barbados platform (including the website, social media posts, Facebook app and weekly newsletter) to keep up with things to do on the island. The newsletter reach is currently 16,000 subscribers. For January to November 2012, there were 400,000 referrals from the Whats On website to view event descriptions, and an additional 25,000 clicks from social media posts. With more people now having access to mobile phones than water and electricity, and more and more using mobiles while on holiday or to plan holidays from home, every tourism operator, hotel and destination absolutely MUST have a mobile app. For more on Barbados Tourism Encyclopedia go to http://www.barbados.org Website Calendar of things to do on island Mobile app of Barbados Events Video on YouTube More Automated Network Monitoring Press Releases Events Calendar of Things to Do In Barbados Goes Mobile for the Booming Market of Mobile Travelers using Smartphones to Plan Holidays at Home and on Location
