Simply Continuous Gives Customers Unprecedented Management and Accelerated Data Recovery with Data Recovery Vault 2.0 Managed Service

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 18, 2009 -

Simply Continuous, a recovery service provider (RSP) for mid-size enterprises, today announced Data Recovery Vault 2.0 managed service integrating new software that dramatically simplifies and accelerates the data recovery process. Available free of charge to current customers, the new and upgraded version includes RecoverNOW (recovery management software) and Dynamic SLA (service-level agreement) capabilities in addition to support for the newest EMC Data Domain deduplication appliances and platforms and other recovery performance refinements.

RecoverNOW Software Lets Customers Recover Data 10 Times Faster

The new RecoverNOW software adds powerful rules-based filtering and analytics capabilities that enable customers to analyze and determine which critical data sets to recover first in the event of various disaster recovery scenarios. Once a recovery scenario and the associated data set for recovery are determined, RecoverNOW automatically calculates the estimated time it will take to replicate the data onto an EMC Data Domain emergency recovery appliance and be ready-to-ship to the customers location.

In nearly every disaster recovery scenario, customers find that they dont need to recover their entire data set right away. For example, a company may store 90 days worth of data but only need its last full backup of data in the event of a disaster. By recovering a smaller data set, Simply Continuous can prepare and ship the data up to 10 times faster than shipping the entire data set. For companies protecting 10s to 100s of terabytes, this accelerated recovery time can make a huge difference when time is of the essence.

During a beta test of the RecoverNOW software, Jackson Wan, system administrator for the San Francisco Giants, was able to define his recovery data set within a couple of minutes of using the software. Once he determined the data set, RecoverNOW calculated the hours to replicate the data to a recovery appliance and be ready-to-ship.

RecoverNOW is easy-to-use and provides added visibility into the recovery process. I can select different data sets for RecoverNOW to analyze and calculate the ready-to-ship times. At first, I thought that I would need 30 days of backups in the event of a full blown recovery, said Wan. After playing with the application for a few minutes I determined that 30 days was overkill and all I needed was 8 days of backups thereby reducing the ready-to-ship time dramatically. I look forward to using it as part of the Data Recovery Vault service.

Industrys First Dynamic Recovery SLA

Simply Continuous Dynamic SLAan industry firstgives companies unprecedented flexibility and control to define their own guaranteed recovery SLAs to meet specific disaster recovery scenarios and corporate governance requirements. This unique Dynamic SLA capability is enabled by the RecoverNOW software which calculates the estimated ready-to-ship time for a customer specified data recovery set. With just one click, Simply Continuous Data Recovery Vault customers can create a custom SLA based on this estimated ready-to-ship time.

Because RecoverNOW provides granular and accurate ready-to-ship times based on the customers defined recovery data set, we now have the ability to provide an instant SLA that relates to that specific data set, said Tom Frangione, Simply Continuous co-founder and CEO. We are committed to helping our customers recover their data in the fastest and easiest way possible. RecoverNOW software and our Dynamic SLA truly put our customers in the drivers seat, giving them the ability to run what-if recovery scenarios with filtering parameters that meet their unique needs and get back their data quickly in case of a disaster or emergency.

Enterprise-Class Upgrades for Simply Continuous Universal Recovery Platform

In addition to RecoverNOW and the Dynamic SLA, Simply Continuous made significant upgrades to its Universal Recovery Platform to support the newest EMC Data Domain deduplication appliances and operating systems including the DD140, DD610, DD630 and DD880. These infrastructure upgrades bring EMC Data Domains enterprise-class deduplication technology to the mid-size enterprise as part of a recovery service rather than stand-alone technologies. The support for these new appliances and operating systems was done concurrently to EMC Data Domains general availability.

Detailed understanding of the methodology of storing data in an EMC Data Domain environment allowed Simply Continuous to make infrastructure improvements to better balance and optimize the replication of data resulting in a significantly faster recovery of customers data.
