Simply Continuous Gives Customers Unprecedented Management and Accelerated Data Recovery with Data Recovery Vault 2.0 Managed Service

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 18, 2009 -

Simply Continuous, a recovery service provider (RSP) for mid-size enterprises, today announced Data Recovery Vault 2.0 managed service integrating new software that dramatically simplifies and accelerates the data recovery process. Available free of charge to current customers, the new and upgraded version includes RecoverNOW (recovery management software) and Dynamic SLA (service-level agreement) capabilities in addition to support for the newest EMC Data Domain deduplication appliances and platforms and other recovery performance refinements.

RecoverNOW Software Lets Customers Recover Data 10 Times Faster

The new RecoverNOW software adds powerful rules-based filtering and analytics capabilities that enable customers to analyze and determine which critical data sets to recover first in the event of various disaster recovery scenarios. Once a recovery scenario and the associated data set for recovery are determined, RecoverNOW automatically calculates the estimated time it will take to replicate the data onto an EMC Data Domain emergency recovery appliance and be ready-to-ship to the customers location.

In nearly every disaster recovery scenario, customers find that they dont need to recover their entire data set right away. For example, a company may store 90 days worth of data but only need its last full backup of data in the event of a disaster. By recovering a smaller data set, Simply Continuous can prepare and ship the data up to 10 times faster than shipping the entire data set. For companies protecting 10s to 100s of terabytes, this accelerated recovery time can make a huge difference when time is of the essence.

During a beta test of the RecoverNOW software, Jackson Wan, system administrator for the San Francisco Giants, was able to define his recovery data set within a couple of minutes of using the software. Once he determined the data set, RecoverNOW calculated the hours to replicate the data to a recovery appliance and be ready-to-ship.

RecoverNOW is easy-to-use and provides added visibility into the recovery process. I can select different data sets for RecoverNOW to analyze and calculate the ready-to-ship times. At first, I thought that I would need 30 days of backups in the event of a full blown recovery, said Wan. After playing with the application for a few minutes I determined that 30 days was overkill and all I needed was 8 days of backups thereby reducing the ready-to-ship time dramatically. I look forward to using it as part of the Data Recovery Vault service.

Industrys First Dynamic Recovery SLA

Simply Continuous Dynamic SLAan industry firstgives companies unprecedented flexibility and control to define their own guaranteed recovery SLAs to meet specific disaster recovery scenarios and corporate governance requirements. This unique Dynamic SLA capability is enabled by the RecoverNOW software which calculates the estimated ready-to-ship time for a customer specified data recovery set. With just one click, Simply Continuous Data Recovery Vault customers can create a custom SLA based on this estimated ready-to-ship time.

Because RecoverNOW provides granular and accurate ready-to-ship times based on the customers defined recovery data set, we now have the ability to provide an instant SLA that relates to that specific data set, said Tom Frangione, Simply Continuous co-founder and CEO. We are committed to helping our customers recover their data in the fastest and easiest way possible. RecoverNOW software and our Dynamic SLA truly put our customers in the drivers seat, giving them the ability to run what-if recovery scenarios with filtering parameters that meet their unique needs and get back their data quickly in case of a disaster or emergency.

Enterprise-Class Upgrades for Simply Continuous Universal Recovery Platform

In addition to RecoverNOW and the Dynamic SLA, Simply Continuous made significant upgrades to its Universal Recovery Platform to support the newest EMC Data Domain deduplication appliances and operating systems including the DD140, DD610, DD630 and DD880. These infrastructure upgrades bring EMC Data Domains enterprise-class deduplication technology to the mid-size enterprise as part of a recovery service rather than stand-alone technologies. The support for these new appliances and operating systems was done concurrently to EMC Data Domains general availability.

Detailed understanding of the methodology of storing data in an EMC Data Domain environment allowed Simply Continuous to make infrastructure improvements to better balance and optimize the replication of data resulting in a significantly faster recovery of customers data.

About Data Recovery Vault and AppAlive

Data Recovery Vault 2.0 and AppAlive integrate into any existing backup infrastructure and enable customers to use an easily accessible web portal to monitor, browse or restore the companys digital assets. The Simply Continuous patent-pending Universal Recovery Platform architecture integrates data compression, network acceleration, secure transmission, off-site monitoring and reliable, simple recovery processes. Cost of the services is nearly always less than the combination of tape backup and off-site storage that the majority of mid-size enterprises use today.

About Simply Continuous

Simply Continuous, provider of enterprise-class managed services, enables businesses to strategically plan for and recover data and applications during unplanned outages and disasters. Founded on the belief that recovery should be simple and cost-effective for enterprises of all sizes, Simply Continuous Universal Recovery Platform uniquely delivers on this promise. BPI Information Systems Protects The Heterogeneous Data For 35 Customers Using Unitrends

Columbia, SC (PRWEB) January 13, 2010

Unitrends (unitrends.com), the leader in affordable, heterogeneous D2D (Disk-to-Disk) and D2D2D (Disk-to-Disk-to-Disk)-based data protection backup appliances, today announced that BPI Information Systems, a growing systems integrator and managed services provider (MSP) in Ohio, has optimized the delivery of backup and disaster recovery services for the heterogeneous data of 35 separate customers using Unitrends D2D data protection backup appliances.

Headquartered in Brecksville, Ohio near Cleveland and established in 1976, BPI Information Systems has served as a cornerstone for the IT Industry in Northeast Ohio. Privately owned, BPI Information Systems specializes in the design, installation, support, and emergency repair of network solutions for business, government and education. In 2005, BPI Information Systems realized that companies of all sizes need to protect their valuable business systems and data around the clock with full-featured cost-effective solutions. In response to this need, BPI Information Systems began to develop a new services offering: a backup service that would simplify, accelerate, and automate both local and remote backup.

Knowing that its customers each rely on multiple operating systems, BPI Information Systems needed a solution that would offer rapid recovery and complete restoration for most operating systems, especially Windows, NetWare and Linux platforms. The growing MSP selected Unitrends D2D data protection backup appliances because they were the only disk-based solution to offer automatic transfer of backups to an offsite location for affordable distributed disaster recovery that supported the wide range of operating platforms and applications used by BPI Information Systems customers.

We installed 35 Unitrends units at our customers sites that we manage every single day, said Scott D’Amore, senior systems engineer, BPI Information Systems. Since deploying Unitrends the backup window has gotten shorter for our customers; Unitrends backs up a lot quicker than tape backup. And, the Unitrends systems support every environment and feature that we need. BareMetal, Exchange, SQL, encryption, vaulting you name it, we use it.

Even as the backup window has been reduced, BPI Information Systems customers now also enjoy the benefits of whole system protection, meaning that entire servers can be recovered rapidly in the event of server failure. BPI Information Systems is able to not only protect physical servers, but also, with the growth of virtualization, the Unitrends solution permits whole system protection of customers virtual servers.

Now BPI Information Systems is able to remotely manage and protect more than 350 servers across their 35 small and mid-size customers in just hours. This improves BPI Information Systems IT staff productivity and profitability while delivering affordable, comprehensive disaster recovery for its diverse customers.

For more information, please view the complete BPI Information Systems success story.

Perforce Launches New Remote Administration Service For Its Software Configuration Management Customers

Alameda, CA (Vocus) August 10, 2010

Perforce Software announced the availability of its newest service, Perforce Remote Administration, providing customers additional administrative support for their Perforce Software Configuration Management (SCM) system. Tailored to meet each companys needs, Perforce remote administrators partner with companies IT teams to manage and improve their Perforce installations.

Gazillion Entertainment trialed the program before its general availability, and is now relying on Perforce for ongoing administration.

We were at a stage where we could not afford a full-time person to administer Perforce, explained Jimil Borillo, Manager of Information Technology for Gazillion Entertainment. With Perforces help we were able to boost our server performance which otherwise would have taken us much longer due to our limited in-house expertise and bandwidth.

How Perforce Remote Administration Works

Perforce Remote Administration is offered as a monthly subscription service, allowing customers as much or as little access to Perforce administrators as desired.

After Perforce conducts a site assessment, the Perforce Server Deployment Package is installed on the customers Perforce Server machine. Perforce experts then perform tasks such as verifying daily backups and proactively analyzing server logs for performance issues. They also work with customers IT teams to perform Perforce administration tasks such as:

Managing and coordinating upgrades of Perforce servers in the organization.
Gathering and refining requirements to design, develop, and deploy new triggers.
Creating and managing users, groups, and access controls.
Supporting major restructuring operations, such as Perforce server instance consolidation and depot splitting.
Reviewing Perforce usage patterns and recommending improvements.
Designing and implementing high availability/disaster recovery solutions.

Like Gazillion Entertainment, many of our customers installations grow over time and require some fine-tuning to ensure top SCM performance, said Tony Vinayak, Manager of Consulting Services for Perforce Software. It makes more financial sense for some companies to supplement their IT Team with our SCM expertise and relying on us gives them peace-of-mind so they can focus on their core business.

NextVault Ready to Transition Iron Mountain Customers

Boston, MA (PRWEB) May 17, 2011

Responding to a recently published report from Gartner, NextVault CEO, Kevin Harris, announced today that the company is well prepared to service Iron Mountain data backup customers seeking alternative solution providers as a result of Iron Mountains decision to sell the digital business.

Iron Mountain is a great company and the return of Richard Reese as CEO will no doubt return the company to its former prominence, commented Bud Stoddard, NextVault Chairman. The disposition of the digital business was brought about from pressures by shareholders to have the company return to its core competency.

According to the recent report, Gartner recommended to IM customers that they:

Prepare for a possible disruption in the delivery of support as staff losses may ensue, and Evaluate alternatives and prepare to transition to a new provider if you decide to exit your existing contract.

With a thirteen year track record in hosted backup and recovery services at AmeriVault and now NextVault, Harris can assure IM clients that NextVault is eminently qualified to provide a seamless transition to his company.

Data protection is critical and any disruption in backup services could result in irreparable harm to any business. Harris cautioned. It is far better to evaluate alternatives early than wait until after the acquisition when there could very well be a rush to convert.

NextVault was formed in early 2010 by online data backup pioneers Kevin Harris and Bud Stoddard with the goal of delivering Value Based Data Protection to its customer.

About NextVault

NextVault is a leading provider of data backup, recovery, file and email archiving solutions. Brownstone Insurance Prepared Their Customers and Their Company for Hurricane Irene

Norwell, MA (PRWEB) September 01, 2011

Brownstone Insurance prepared not only their customers for the potential wrath of Hurricane Irene, but also their own company.

In order to do our job of protecting our customers, we needed to protect the integrity of our systems first to make sure we were up and running and ready to help, said Glenn Montgomery, co-founder of Brownstone Insurance.

The company has a thorough disaster recovery plan in place and spent hours during the week prior to Hurricane Irenes arrival implementing that plan.

“When you are on a plane, they tell you to put the mask on your face first before helping others, explained Glenn. This is true for an insurance agent during a disaster. That is why Brownstone was ready and waiting for any disaster that may have come, he continued.

Brownstone Insurance had a backup generator installed which is powering all of the companys systems until power is restored to their area in Norwell, MA. While most of the area businesses are closed due to the power outage, Brownstone is fully operational and ready to assist their clients following the storm.

The company also took steps to ensure that their customers were prepared to weather the storm. Publishing e-newsletters, blog posts, tweets and Facebook status updates were all part of Brownstones plan to reach their customers before Hurricane Irene reached New England.

The company even reached out to customers and non-customers alike during the weekend of the storm via Twitter and Facebook to increase awareness about the storm and provide tips to remain safe during the storm.

Brownstone Insurance has been providing master policy insurance coverage for multi-unit properties throughout Massachusetts since 1982. Nokia Siemens Networks new CEM on Demand content packs and services help prioritize operations, focus investments and improve customer care

Nokia Siemens Networks is enhancing its award-winning Customer Experience Management (CEM) on Demand portal by adding three, new, software content packs and related services. These content packs help operators pinpoint problems on internet-based maps in seconds and rank the individual customer perception of any problem they experience. In addition, they provide detailed trends in service use and experience for the customer care department.

With our continued sharp focus on innovations in customer experience management, we help operators serve their customers with better service quality and improve profitability, said Michael Seeger, head of CEM business development, Nokia Siemens Networks. Our three new content packs equip operators to instantly identify problems both in service quality and user satisfaction and address them. This helps operators ensure their smartphone customers get service quality worth every penny they pay for high value data services.

Sheryl Kingstone, director of research at Yankee Group, stressed the importance of new CEM on Demand content packs: It is critical that operators get access to actionable insights related to both customer satisfaction and network performance so that they can more easily prioritize improvements based on the business impact. New on-demand solutions cut right to the heart of some key operator pain points in operations and customer care, giving them insights for profitable decision making.

Customer Quality Insight Monitor: This new CEM on Demand content pack helps operators identify and prioritize service quality related problems in seconds. These problems are pinpointed on internet-based maps as dashboard views available via smart devices such as laptops and iPads. Based on customer impact, this content pack prioritizes service quality related faults, a capability that is unique in the industry. The operations department can click on the fault, find the root cause of the problem, and share the results across the entire operator organization for improvement actions.

Customer Experience Index content pack provides a numerical index based on network, service and device performance and perception indicators that rank the perception of individual subscribers. Various departments across the entire operator organization can use this information to prioritize their respective actions and investments. The marketing department, for example, can filter the results by customer lifetime value, location, type of device, service contract, service use and satisfaction to identify high value customers and the reasons behind the dissatisfaction with services. As new devices such as the Lumia 920 are introduced, operators can follow the experience of this specific target group. When paired with Mobile Broadband Performance Service*, these insights can be used to focus and tune optimization projects to meet raising customer expectations.

Customer Care Insight content pack provides a clear view of the customer satisfaction, profile and usage trends as well as service quality related problems. This content pack, which provides key information for customer care personnel, is also relevant for any customer-facing department.

For customer call agents who answer the first call, the company is also introducing a quick start pack of its Customer Care Automation solution** to complement the Customer Care Insight content pack. By automating the customer care processes, customer complaints can be resolved during the first call itself before they are escalated to the next level.

Nokia Siemens Networks related services support all its CEM on Demand content packs. These services ensure that the content packs are fully integrated, optimized and adapted for operators business and technical environment, allowing operators to reap the full benefits from them.

Nokia Siemens Networks launched CEM on Demand portal in February 2012. One of its operator customers has used the portal to identify and address problems of its subscribers about to switch to another operator. The portal helped the operator focus effectively on addressing customer problems, significantly improving the customer retention rate. Another tier-1 operator in Asia has been using the portal to assess service quality per customer and take instant proactive action. According to the operators report, this portal increased revenue by 17 million within three months, with a 50 million projected revenue boost in the first year.
