With Growth on the Horizon, Atlanta Humane Society Selects ProviDyn for IT Support, Strategy and Services

ProviDyn, a provider of IT support, strategy and services for small and medium-sized businesses, announced today that Atlantas oldest private non-profit animal welfare organization, the Atlanta Humane Society (AHS), has selected the company to provide services to its current location and a new campus opening in December 2011.
Expanding to an additional location prompted AHS to look for a technology provider that could act as a partner and augment its limited internal IT resources to ensure seamless communication between both locations. After an extensive review process, AHS selected ProviDyn to provide managed services, application and IP telephony support, as well as vendor management for both AHS locations. The ProviDyn team will also work closely with AHS to implement cost saving solutions by removing aging equipment and improving processes and efficiency with cloud services.
With two facilities, we needed a professional resource to help us manage the day to day technology piece of the puzzle and also the complexities of ensuring our IT infrastructure could support both locations, said Chris Slee, Vice President of Finance for AHS. Right away we felt that ProviDyn was the right choice. They came in with a hands on approach, solid track record of meeting the technology needs of small and medium-sized businesses and a willingness to customize a solution to fit our needs.
The new Mansell campus of AHS is funded by an ongoing $ 10M capital campaign and is expected to allow the organization to double the number of animal adoptions to 12,000 dogs and cats annually and total between 8,000 and 16,000 spay/neuter surgeries. Expanding North of the perimeter also opens up the possibilities for AHS to engage new supporters and adopting families.

Atlanta Humane Society Gains Flexibility and Improves Collaboration with ProviDyn"s Private Cloud Services

These upgrades come on the heels of the Atlanta Humane Society opening a second location and furthering its partnership with ProviDyn by migrating its technology infrastructure and applications to the private cloud.
After its newest location opened in December, AHS wanted to continue making improvements to its Howell Mill location as well. The Howell Mill Animal Wellness Clinic is a full-service, fully-staffed pet hospital at the Atlanta Humane Society – the city’s only animal welfare organization to have such a program. The new computers will save time and improve efficiency for clinic employees who previously relied on hand writing information and then, later, taking the extra step of data entry.
Continuing to make upgrades and improvements to our Howell Mill facility will help us operate more efficiently and, in turn, make our clinic an affordable, yet attractive option for pet owners who might not otherwise have the resources to care for their pets, said Chris Slee, Vice President of Finance for AHS. Now in its fourth year, the ISGT conference has assembled some of the industrys top minds and professionals to further advance smart-grid innovation, said Saifur Rahman, ISGT 2013 conference chair.
According to a recently released survey commissioned by IEEE and conducted by Zpryme Research & Consulting, Europe and North America are the leaders in adopting and utilizing distributed generation, microgrids, and storage technology. The survey report, Power Systems of the Future: The Case for Energy Storage, Distributed Generation, and Microgrids, states that these regions stand to take the lead when it comes to developing and deploying next-generation distributed energy systems.
Rahman continued: The development and deployment of smart-grid technologies continues to be at the forefront of many conversations in the world of energy. Many of these pivotal discussions take place at ISGT, helping lead the industry to next-generation distributed energy systems solutions and adoption.
Conference attendees will hear and see paper and panel presentations and can participate in discussions on the following topics:
impact of smart grid on distributed energy resources (electric cars, demand response, distributed generation and storage);
smart sensors and advanced metering infrastructure;
cyber-security systems (intelligent monitoring and outage management);
