M-Files 9.0 Flexible Enterprise Content Management Redefines "Hybrid Cloud" with Distributed Content Replication and Long-term Archiving

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 04, 2012

M-Files Inc., the developer of M-Files flexible cloud, on-premise, and hybrid enterprise content management (ECM) solutions, today announced that M-Files 9.0 features advanced support for customer deployments with multiple document repositories, also known as vaults.

With the enhanced interaction and cooperation between multiple document repositories, M-Files 9.0 empowers businesses with the flexibility to organize documents and other content along geographic or functional boundaries for maximum responsiveness and efficiency.

“M-Files 9.0 dramatically expands the options businesses have to organize and manage their important documents, information and processes,” said Greg Milliken, president of M-Files Inc. “Data and processes can be efficiently segmented by function, geography, line of business — literally along any organizational boundary. It can reside in the public cloud or a private cloud, or it can be on-premise, or any mixture of all of them, and the user interface and experience is identical.”

Robust Replication Capabilities for Demanding Enterprise Environments

The new replication capabilities featured in M-Files 9.0 ensure that, when needed, information stored in separate repositories can be quickly and easily located and accessed across the organization in a unified and seamless manner. The result is more efficient searches, better performance, fast disaster recovery and greater scalability, especially in larger, more demanding enterprise environments. The new replication capabilities in M-Files 9.0 enable a variety of use cases, including:

Cloud-based backup of an on-premise repository, or vice versa, (i.e., on-premise back-up of a cloud-based repository), which provides robust and instantaneous disaster recovery.
Replication of data between two or more sites, such as a corporate entity and its subsidiaries, or a business with distributed sales offices or retail outlets.
Publishing of select content from a corporate on-premise repository to a cloud-based project vault accessible by external partners, vendors or clients. In this scenario, a business can efficiently provide clients and partners with up-to-date price lists, product descriptions, brochures, and other material from the publishing vault at all times, while still maintaining a tightly controlled central document repository. Replication is metadata-driven enabling specification of dynamic replication rules, such as replication of all approved price lists to the publishing vault.
Moving content and information from an active repository to an archive repository for long-term retention. This example addresses demanding records management requirements, as well as those associated with regulatory or quality compliance.
Collecting information from multiple distributed repositories to one centralized enterprise repository. This use case is common in master data management (MDM) and environments with multiple contractors, vendors or partners working on separate but related systems or projects.

“M-Files employs a unique metadata-driven architecture that transcends antiquated folder-based approaches and is based on the notion that classifying information by what it is, rather than where it is stored, is fundamentally superior,” continued Milliken. “The replication and archiving capabilities in M-Files 9.0 are no exception. Instead of replicating all content to multiple repositories, customers can easily configure replication rules based on metadata, or tags, so only certain types of information and content is replicated according to the needs of the business, such as backup and disaster recovery, long-term archiving, publishing, and improved performance and scalability in large and/or distributed organizations.”

“We work in close cooperation with another company with whom we share certain parts (but not all) of our business. We need to share documents related to the shared business, but not other files,” said Karl Lausten, Owner of Bright Ideas, and an M-Files customer. “With the ability for multiple document vaults to interact and cooperate in M-Files 9.0, we can set up one shared vault — and then let the system replicate relevant documents into the shared vault — while still having our other documents reside in our main central vault, which is not shared. The other company can then access only the specific documents that have been classified as ‘common.’”

In addition to advanced support for multiple document and content vault deployments, M-Files 9.0 offers a variety of new features and enhancements related to mobile access, search, paper document capture and OCR, publishing and collaboration, ease of use and more. The beta version of M-Files 9.0 is currently available, with the official launch scheduled for late September 2012.

Zetta.net Redefines Hybrid Cloud Backup with Smart Cloud and New Lean Local Copy to Deliver Instant, Appliance-Free Data Backup and Recovery

Sunnyvale, Calif. (PRWEB) October 23, 2012

Zetta.net today announced it is redefining traditional hybrid cloud backup with its unique, appliance-free approach featuring Smart Cloud and new Lean Local Copy technology. Zetta.net’s Smart Cloud, which integrates the functionality of backup, snapshot and replication technology, abolishes the need for a local appliance. Smart Cloud, together with the new Lean Local Copy feature, advances the hybrid cloud model to deliver fast, reliable data backup and recovery at a fraction of the cost of backup alone.

Zetta.net delivers enterprise-grade 3-in-1 backup, disaster recovery and archiving. Because the SaaS-based solution eliminates the cost and management complexities associated with appliance hardware, it is particularly attractive to small/medium businesses, enterprises with distributed office locations, and managed service providers (MSPs). Remote offices and MSPs are no longer required to purchase and manage multiple appliances across distributed locations, and any size business can now enjoy enterprise-grade data protection at an affordable price.

Unlike the “dumb cloud” of first generation hybrid cloud backup, Zetta.net’s solution was architected from the ground up with integrated backup, snapshot and replication technology built into its Smart Cloud and its lightweight agents. This removes the need for appliances altogether, and reduces local storage footprint. As a result, offsite backup and recovery is significantly faster, more efficient and much simpler to deploy and manage.

With the introduction of Lean Local Copy, Zetta.net builds on its strategy of innovating a next generation hybrid cloud backup model. Lean Local Copy enables companies to store the most recent copy of large files within their local storage environment so that critical data is easily and quickly accessible when needed. Because the intelligence of backup, snapshot and replication resides in the Zetta.net Smart Cloud, customers can restore and recover their data from either the cloud or their local network copy with equal ease, and without third party hardware or software. Companies benefit from a full range of functionality that would only be achieved otherwise by investing in disparate products for local, offsite, archiving and disaster recovery.

A second new feature, flexible API Scripting, extends Zetta.net’s plug-in architecture to accommodate extra functionality or applications as required by companies. The scripting feature enables enterprises or MSPs to deliver added value to customers in specialized environments, such as healthcare or the legal industry, with the ability to customize the solution to meet market-specific requirements.

Quotes

“Data protection is traditionally comprised of disparate products from different vendors, which can easily add up in capital and operational costs,” said Deni Connor, founding analyst for Storage Strategies NOW. “Through its unique backup, snapshot and replication architecture, Zetta.net has found an elegant way to deliver all-in-one data protection to companies without requiring them to pay the exorbitant prices associated with enterprise data recovery. Zetta.net is clearly addressing the market’s need for more comprehensive, yet affordable data recovery.”

When we discovered Zetta.DataProtect it was the highest value offering by a wide margin. Not only was the solution affordable, but it included multiple enterprise-class capabilities that competitors could not touch. Comparable vendors wanted outrageous service fees for service levels that were far below Zetta.net,” said Andy Abadia, network administrator, TEECOM. “We replaced our disk-based backup system with Zetta.net, moving as much as 3TB of storage to DataProtect. As a designer of technology infrastructure for the most advanced buildings in the world, timeliness is critical. Zetta.net has provided the speed and rock-solid reliability we need to ensure our information is online when we need it. Its been the ideal solution for us.

“With our advanced Smart Cloud and new Lean Local Copy, Zetta.net is raising the bar of excellence for legacy hybrid cloud backup,” said Gary Sevounts, vice president of marketing, Zetta.net. “There is no reason companies should be chained by the constraints of appliance hardware and software, when they can eliminate the absurd cost and management hassles with the current hybrid cloud backup model. Our visionary approach enables instant recovery when required, removes the limitations of third-party appliances and single points of failure, and reduces the huge costs associated with today’s hybrid ‘dumb’ cloud.”

Pricing and Availability

Zetta.net DataProtect with Lean Local Copy and flexible API Scripting is generally available today, starting at $ 225 per month. The pricing includes unlimited licenses, 24×7 U.S.-based support, and 500GB of enterprise-grade secure online storage.

About Zetta.net

Zetta.net is an award-winning provider of enterprise-grade 3-in-1 backup, disaster recovery and archiving technology for small/medium enterprises, distributed organizations, and managed service providers (MSPs). The SaaS-based solution enables companies to simplify backups and instantly recover data through a single management point. With local, offsite, archiving and disaster recovery functionality integrated into one solution, Zetta.net delivers the value of multiple products at a fraction of the cost.

Headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., Zetta was established in 2008 by successful serial entrepreneurs and technology executives from companies such as Netscape, VeriSign, Symantec, EMC, and Shutterfly.
