Data security analysis offered by cloud backup firm

(PRWEB UK) 28 September 2012

The UKs largest managed cloud backup company, Databarracks, has launched its 2012 online Data Health Check survey.

Only last month the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) was urging British companies to conduct their own check ups as the number of notices it served for data security lapses jumped 48% during 2011-2012*.

The Data Health Check, which is running for the third time, is a questionnaire which allows companies to thoroughly assess their data security procedures.

Once a minimum of 500 respondents have completed the survey, it will produce a personalised infographic report for each participant, revealing how their answers compared to other businesses in their sector and across UK industry as a whole.

In previous years, the Data Health Check has provided valuable insight into data backup and security in the UK, charting technology trends and revealing the major concerns businesses have regarding business continuity and data security.

This year, the Data Health Check will also monitor how data security is being affected by the cloud and will uncover what, if anything, companies are doing with regard to data security and BYOD.

The survey, which can be found at survey.databarracks.com, will provide participants with a benchmark for data security standards in their field. It will also give respondents an awareness of technology adoption in their sector, such as the cloud.

We all want to know how our own strategies measure up to those of our competitors and peers, says Peter Groucutt, Managing Director at Databarracks. The Data Health Check gives respondents a chance to see if they are ahead of the curve or lagging behind when it comes to data security, Disaster Recovery and cloud computing.

The survey is a good way for us to get a picture of whats going on in the IT departments of UK businesses as well as find out where IT decision makers want to see improvements. At the same time, we want to make sure there is a real benefit for the companies who go to the trouble of taking the survey by giving each respondent a personalised report of the survey findings, adds Groucutt.

The Data Health Check is running from 28 September 2012.

Ends:

*The ICO issued 68 notices for data security lapses in the 12 months to 3rd June 2012.

GL Conveys the Availability of its LTE Protocol Analysis and Simulation Software

Gaithersburg, Maryland (PRWEB) November 22, 2012

GL Communications Inc. a leader in providing PC-based test, analysis and simulation products and consulting services to the worldwide telecommunications industry, conveyed today the availability of its LTE Protocol Analysis and Simulation software.

Speaking to media persons, Mr. Jagdish Vadalia Senior Manager for Product Development of the company said, LTE (Long Term Evolution) protocol standard is the so called 4G (4th Generation) mobile standard in the rapidly evolving mobile technologies. Its distinguishing feature is an all IP infrastructure and significantly greater air interface bandwidth to the mobile handset. It was developed as an enhancement to the existing 3G UMTS System (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) to provide users enhanced mobile radio and Internet access.

He added, The LTE air interface is a completely new system based on orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) in the downlink and single-carrier frequency-division multiple access (SC-FDMA) in the uplink. The system efficiently supports multi-antenna technologies (MIMO). OFDMA is considered much better at handling the varying propagation conditions seen in mobile radio. This is similar to WiMAX. In MIMO techniques, either multiple antennas can transmit the same data stream to improve data-transmission reliability or different antennas can transmit different data streams simultaneously to increase throughput.

Mr. Vadalia further added, Another significant feature of LTE is its high bandwidthup to 20 MHz. Because the usable bandwidth is scalable, LTE can also operate in the existing 5-MHz UMTS frequency bands, or in even smaller bands.

He added, “The Multi-Class Extension to Multi-Link PPP allows a sender to fragment the packets of various priorities into multiple classes of fragments, and allows high-priority packets to be sent between fragments of lower priorities.” Mr. Vadalia further added, “GL’s flexible and versatile applications in T1 E1 Analyzer allow complete PPP, MLPPP, & MC-MLPPP Analysis & Emulation. The T1 E1 Analyzers are available as powerful HD PCI cards as well as portable USB based units.” Important features of MLPPP Analyzer GL Announces its MC-MLPPP Analysis and Emulation Software

Gaithersburg, MD (PRWEB) December 25, 2012 GL Communications Inc. a leader in providing PC-based test, analysis and simulation products and consulting services to the worldwide telecommunications industry, announced today the availability of its ATM Protocol Analysis and Emulation software. Speaking to media persons, Mr. Jagdish Vadalia Senior Manager for Product Development of the company said, GL’s ATM Analyzer is used to analyze and decode different ATM protocols like ATM, AAL2 Protocols (CPS-SDU, SSSAR-SDU, and SSCS), AAL5 (CPCS), UNI etc across U plane and C plane of UNI and NNI interface. The analyzer can also decode ATM frames constituting Classical IP over ATM, or CIP based networks, and traditional SS7 Stack (ISUP, SCCP, MAP, CAMEL (CAP) etc) over ATM. The analyzer is also capable of capturing & reassembling frames that were transmitted with Inverse Multiplexing. IMA combines up to 8 T1 E1 links to form a single high-speed connection with flexible bandwidth options. He added, The Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA) Emulator application can simulate the inverse multiplexing of an ATM cell stream over multiple physical links and retrieve the original stream at the far-end from these physical links. The multiplexing of the ATM cell stream is performed on a cell by cell basis across the multiple physical links. Traffic source can be sequence number, HDL files (containing packets/frames), flat binary file, user-defined frames (ASCII HEX file), and Ethernet data.
