GL Announces Testing Solutions for IVR - Interactive Voice Response Systems

Gaithersburg, MD (PRWEB) October 26, 2012

GL Communications Inc. announced today the release of Testing Solutions for IVR (Interactive Voice Response) Systems.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Robert Bichefsky Senior Manager of the company said, IVR (Interactive Voice Response) Systems depend on DTMF digits, or tones, as inputs from the users and in turn presents a menu for banking, hospitality, voice mail, and other automated applications. Depending on the application, the branching of the menu can get complicated, and this requires accurate testing prior to deployment.

He added, When calling an IVR system from any interface, the user is asked to send DTMF digits in response to prompts. The IVR system may have several sequences and may require either single DTMF digit responses or several DTMF digit responses (i.e. the credit card number). Once through the IVR system the user will either be connected to real voice or the user will simply be disconnected.

Mr. Bichefsky further added, Using GL products with their associated scripting, it is possible to automate the IVR process. GL’s IVR test platforms can generate and detect user-defined digits, tones, and play/record voice files, using a simple GUI setup or automate the whole process through scripts. Automatic IVR testing is possible via scripting and is possible with any GL supported emulation product. The scripting provides the means to detect voice and send DTMF digits in response to voice prompts. Once connected to the call, the GL product can perform Quality of Service (PESQ) or path confirmation tests.

He added, GL’s products that support IVR systems testing are: VQuad with Dual Universal Telephony Adapter (UTA), VQuad Lite, VQuad Probe, PacketGen and RTP ToolBox for over PacketNetworks, T1 E1 Analyzer for over TDM networks, MAPS test equipments include traffic generators and detectors to perform IVR testing of all types of traffic over TDM, TRAU, and Packet networks and DCOSS over T1 E1, Analog, SS7, ISDN Networks.

Cleveland IT Provider CRU Solutions Offers Backup as a Service

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) September 19, 2012

Cleveland IT services provider CRU Solutions delivers Backup as a Service (BaaS) to its Managed IT Services clients. BaaS provides better data security and substantially improves the ability to restore data in the event of an emergency compared to tape or disk backups.

Tape or disk backups were the best option before the development of reliable online backup services, says Jim Kerr, President of CRU Solutions.

Among the weaknesses of tape or disk backups are that they rely on employees handling the media, and the media itself must be stored securely. Employee error or a poor storage location can result in failed backups or damaged media. Either of these situations means that the most recent backup could be unusable for disaster recovery, Jim concludes.

To help mitigate these problems, CRU Solutions now offers Backup as a Service. The BaaS appliance is onsite, so it replaces whatever backup method the client is currently using. In addition, BaaS offers automatic offsite replication for an offsite backup in case of emergency.

CRU Solutions Backup as a Service does not require staff time to manage tapes or disks, and provides more recent restore points than the end of the previous workday, automatic offsite replication, and the ability to recover fully from the offsite image for disaster recovery.

CRU Solutions fully manages the backup appliance and backup process, creating fast, unattended backups on an hourly, two-hour, four-hour or daily basis with multiple restore points. The service includes ongoing monitoring and offsite replication.

With CRU Solutions BaaS, clients can return to work faster in the event of data loss or network interruption.

Organisations can now suppport information sharing and meet security and compliance requirements, by easily monitoring critical and sensitive data access and manipulation

(PRWEB UK) 26 October 2012

8MAN Logga, a new 8MAN feature, tracks unauthorised access to sensitive and critical information and provides automatic reporting, complete with documented audit trails and timely alerts. The file server monitor feature registers and saves all requests and actions on selected file server directories. 8MAN Logga records which data was accessed by whom and what actions were performed. If a selected file server directory was accessed, 8MAN Logga can determine who accessed it, when they accessed it and also which data was read, edited or changed in any way.

All and any file, folder and directory access requests can be recorded. However, a significant amount of valuable storage space can easily be consumed if the system is not making intelligent selections of which information assets to track and record. With 8MAN Logga, organisations can select only those files, folders and directories that need to be monitored for compliance and security purposes.

Company data can broadly be divided into three categories: critical, sensitive and general information. Around 80% of the data a company holds on its servers is not business critical or sensitive in nature.

By integrating the 8MAN Logga feature with our 8MAN Data Owner concept, we can focus on tracking only client sensitive or mission critical information saving the organisation time, resources and storage space, said Steven Bennett, EMEA Head of Channel, protected-networks.

Changes in business operations and processes are inevitable – triggered by growth, new technologies and/or external factors. These changes have direct implications on the administration rights within an organisation. With 8MAN Logga organisations can document whether the current administration rights are appropriate for the changing strategy and operations. Employees can then be provided with the information access they need to meet their business goals and objectives.

About protected-networks: Founded in 2009, protected-networks GmbH is a Berlin-based company that develops integrated solutions for access rights management of server environments across all business sectors and at public authorities. The solution, 8MAN is an Information Trust Software based on an innovative approach to integrated data security management and offers uniform and automated management of user rights. Clients thereby save cost and time while increasing protection against unauthorised internal access.

WiredTree Adds R1Soft to Dedicated Servers, Slashes Prices in Half

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 29, 2012

Leading managed dedicated server hosting provider WiredTree (http://www.wiredtree.com), announced today the launch of R1Soft Continuous Data Protection (CDP) on all dedicated server hosting plans. WiredTree now offers customers with a best-in-class web hosting backup solution at the lowest prices. In addition to investing in the infrastructure required to ensure fast and complete backups, WiredTree is also leveraging efficiency to cut the cost of R1Soft backups by 50 percent, making industry-leading backups available at an aggressively competitive price.

WiredTree has a great deal of experience with R1Soft, says Zac Cogswell, President of WiredTree. We previously offered R1Soft backups by special request on our dedicated server hosting plans and on Hybrid web hosting services. With the launch of R1Soft CDP version 4, we now feel that the product meets the high standards our managed dedicated server customers demand. In addition to R1Softs impressive features, we have also invested more than $ 100,000 in an infrastructure that is optimized for backups.

R1Soft Continuous Data Protection (R1Soft CDP) is a software solution that takes snapshots of an entire dedicated server as frequently as every 15 minutes. Unlike other web hosting backup services, R1Soft CDP only transfers the data that has changed on a server, keeping backup windows small and reducing the risk of lost data. However, the promise of Continuous Data Protection can only be met if a hosting provider invests in a suitable hardware setup. Before launching R1Soft services for managed dedicated server customers, WiredTree built new storage SANs, using custom hardware with a file system designed for performance and reliability. These storage nodes are accelerated with solid-state drives (SSDs), providing read/write processes that are dramatically faster than hard disk drive (HDD) configurations.

If we were to start offering R1Soft services without the right storage, performance and reliability would suffer across the board, says Cogswell. It is important to us that customers can keep their data safe using R1Soft, without affecting website performance or significantly increasing costs. We have been able to implement R1Soft in such a way that customers using dedicated server hosting plans will reap all of the benefits, without any negative effects. Performance will continue to meet our high standards, bandwidth used for backups is not taken from customer allocations, and best of all we can do all of this at half the price we were charging for R1Soft backups.

As a result of the investment involved in such a large implementation of R1Soft CDP, WiredTree is able to provide enterprise-grade backups at a heavily discounted price. In addition, using R1Soft CDP does not add hidden costs in terms of bandwidth usage. For faster performance, all backups are carried out on WiredTrees private internal network, meaning that this data is not counted in a customers bandwidth allocation. WiredTree has also considered the impact of R1Soft backups on workload and ease of use. R1Soft CDP is a fully automated solution that is managed by WiredTree along with each customers managed dedicated server hosting service. Customers can use their Grove client portal to monitor R1Soft and edit specific settings as necessary. But once the service is launched, customers can confidently trust R1Soft and WiredTree to protect all their data with no manual input.

A managed dedicated server promises incredible performance without the need to manage your own hardware, says Cogswell. We have decided to add R1Soft to dedicated server hosting because we believe, particularly with the new version of R1Soft, we can keep data safe without adding expense or workload. We encourage every webmaster who takes data protection seriously to make use of R1Soft and our half-price solution that is available to new and existing customers alike.

With a forward-thinking approach to dedicated server hosting, WiredTree continues to expand its service lineup and give customers more tools they need to make full use of their dedicated servers. Now, with the addition of R1Soft CDP at competitive prices, customers can confidently host their websites and applications with complete peace of mind.

The ins and outs of Data Protection and Disaster Recovery

Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) September 20, 2012

Corus360, a technology consulting and solutions company based in Norcross, GA, conducted a survey with several organizations to learn more about their backup and recovery activities, cloud strategy and disaster recovery planning. Corus360 would like to allow the community that surrounds our organization to come together, learn from one another and share ideas that can help companies with these data protection strategies.

During the survey, Corus360 learned that 15% of the organizations surveyed are currently without a disaster recovery plan. Of those companies with a DR plan, only half of them test quarterly. DR plan testing is an essential element of any organizations capability to recover after a disaster declaration and is just important as the DR plan.

A comprehensive testing program helps identify plan deficiencies and creates areas for improvement. In turn this also creates confidence within your recovery teams as they become more comfortable with the plan. Your team must be ready to execute and not have a deer in the headlights response if the flag ever goes up. Considering that 22% of respondents have had a disaster or data corruption event where they were not able to restore their data, DR planning and testing is more critical than ever before.

Companies today rely on many technologies for their data protection needs. Surprisingly, 30% of respondents do not have an offsite data replication strategy. 86% of respondents still use tape in their environment. Almost 25% of an administrators time is spent on backup related activities, including troubleshooting faulty backups. Administrators are clearly struggling to support business SLAs in the face of accelerated virtualization roll outs, extensive data growth, shrinking backup windows, cloud adoption and more regulation and requirements to meet compliance.

As for leveraging the Cloud, 18% of respondents have a defined cloud strategy and 60% are working on defining a cloud strategy. When asked how they will leverage the cloud, 20% of the respondents plan on moving archive to the cloud, 41% plan on using the cloud for server/compute power and 25% for backup and storage related activities. With regards to public cloud adoption, 33% of respondents use some sort of public cloud offering today with another 31% that plan to use a public offering in the near future.
