BMMA Announces Winners of 2012 Best in Class Marketing Awards

Biloxi, MS (PRWEB) April 12, 2012

The Broadband Multimedia Marketing Association (http://bmma.us/) recently announced the winners of the 2012 Best in Class Marketing awards.

Each year the BMMA recognizes teams and companies that demonstrate innovation or excellence in marketing broadband services, said Ellis Hill, President of ResearchFirst, Inc., the BMMAs operational firm. This years awards went to two service providers and one vendor company that best displayed excellence or innovation in broadband product marketing theory, practice or operations.

And the winners are:

1) North State Communications (http://northstate.net/): Plex Blitz Introduction Campaign

The campaign was created to showcase North States new ultra fast residential Internet speed, Plex Blitz. Plex Blitz offers blistering speeds up to 80 Mbps uploads and 30 Mbps downloads, making it the fastest residential Internet service in the Triad. The service was created to address the explosion of rich media content on the Internet, which has created a demand for faster speeds among mainstream Americans.

Plex Blitz is an exciting product designed for Internet enthusiasts, said Royster Tucker, III, and North State Communications COO. In addition to Blitzs ultra-fast speeds, whats fascinating is that the Internet enthusiasts are now you and me – everyone who goes online. Anyone who wants to enjoy their time on the Internet more appreciates faster upload and download speeds, he said. So we were happy to continue our tradition of bringing the fastest speeds to our community and wanted imagery that demonstrated the thrill of enjoying that unbridled speed online and have a little fun at the same time. We think this campaign captures those qualities, and were honored to be acknowledged by the BMMA.

The campaign features Plex Blitz, a cheetah with a rocket tied to his back, and the headline Nope. Blitz is faster. The ads review many of the things you can do faster online with the service. In addition to print ads and outdoor boards showcasing Blitz, the campaign included radio spots, direct mail and fulfillment packaging.

2) Tbaytel (http://tbaytel.net/): The Connected Home

Tbaytels Connected Home launched in August 2011 as a seasonal campaign to retain Internet subscribers, build the subscriber base of Tbaytels new Digital TV service and promote the benefits of bundling services. It is a concise promise to customers: Tbaytel takes care of all of our customers entertainment and connected communication needs.

Driving this is that customers expectations for telecommunication services continue to evolve as more and more Internet ready devices penetrate the home. The Connected Home marketing program is now becoming Tbaytels vehicle to communicate this evolution and present the benefits and savings of a converged home to our existing and future customers by means of resonating brand messaging and differentiated products and services.

The Connected Home has evolved into an extension of Tbaytels overall strategy which focuses on the convergence of services to provide customers with optimal value.

3) Actiontec (http://www.actiontec.com/): Haunted House Interactive Exhibit

As an exhibitor at TelcoTV, Actiontecs goal was to showcase the companys new offerings in the Smart Home or Connected Home arena. In particular, the company wanted to highlight its new SG200 Service Gateway and demonstrate all the potential capabilities of the device.

We were looking for a fun way to demonstrate our smart home technology and are honored to be recognized by the BMMA. Our team came up with their own unique twist on Halloween that combined a Hitchcock-inspired haunted house, and a series of special effects driven by our SG200 gateway, said Brian Henrichs, chief business development officer at Actiontec Electronics. While fun, the haunted house delivered the message that home automation is not a technology of the future; its here and ready to be deployed in homes today.

The Haunted House and its special effects were controlled by Actiontecs SG200 Service Gateway, which lets homeowners control certain appliances, thermostats, lighting and security systems from anywhere. While homeowners may not choose to automate a smoke machine at the front door, the exact same technology could be used to remotely turn on the porch lights while driving home, monitor their energy usage, see whos at the front door from anywhere, or automatically open the window blinds in the morning.

aNb Media Joins Winner"s Circle in Microsoft Acqua Contest

Hoboken, New Jersey (Vocus) October 4, 2010

aNb Media, a toy-tester and licensing company with national publications has claimed one of the runner-up spots in Microsofts recent Acqua contest. The contest sought out small businesses that needed a technology make-over. eMazzanti Technologies, the firms IT support consultant, nominated the toy industry publisher for the contest. aNb Media was one of five who took top honors in the overall competition. For more information about the Microsoft Acqua contest and winners, see:

http://www.igniteyoursmallbusiness.com/contests/acqua/Pages/default.aspx?said=10

Our best guess was that we were losing up to $ 200,000 per year in productivity because of a hodge-podge of disparate technologies, noted Jim Silver, editor-in-chief, aNb Media. After two years in business, we needed to re-think and re-do the way we were using computers.

Disparate Technologies Create Productivity Problems

As aNb Media grew to 13 people, the firms network, was a jumble of old and newer computers, mixed operating systems, and different software versions just a few of the problems slowing down aNb Medias work flow. Other technology-related issues such as ineffective firewalls, spam filters, slow internet access and sporadic failure of backup-protection dramatically impeded productivity in and out of the office. The technology problems also flooded employee computers and mobile devices with spam. The end result: IT issues were costing the company hundreds of thousands of dollars annually and hurting their public outreach efforts as well.

New IT Super Hero Sought

Though aNb Media had an existing IT partner, the company was not solving the problems that persisted within the toy publishers operation. It decided to start the search for a new IT super-hero consultant by interviewing three firms, eMazzanti Technologies being one of the candidates. eMazzanti was hired on the spot. We had three reasons to hire eMazzanti: they came highly recommended by their clients, immediately won our trust with their knowledge and talked specific solutions to problems noted, said Silver.

Super Solutions Delivered

eMazzanti Technologies solved spam and email virus problems with its MXINSPECT email protection service, delivered 24×7 support as needed and provided seamless, automatic backup. These services make it easier for aNb Media to maintain its network, protect intellectual property and files as well as collaborate and share information more efficiently.

eMazzantis MXINSPECT email filter solution instantly removed 99 percent of the spam from our network and mobile devices, said Silver. That alone gave us back 13 man-hours a day valued at more than $ 13,000 per month.

eMazzanti also repaired and updated aNb Medias existing tape backup system that had been non-functional for periods of up to 60 days. The companys entire operation is now more secure against catastrophic data loss due to internal or external related disasters. In less than 10 minutes, eMazzanti had sized up our key IT problems and proposed solutions, said Silver. No other IT consultant even came close to grasping our situation and providing real answers to our problems.

About eMazzanti Technologies

With a company name that sounds more like a purebred, high-performance sports car than a IT support and consulting firm, eMazzanti Technologies is all about delivering powerful solutions such as computer network management, network troubleshooting, business continuity and disaster recovery, green computing, mobile workforce technology, information security and business information optimization in the most efficient manner possible. The Hoboken, N.J., firm is located in one of the most densely populated – and competitive – regions in the U.S. It provides business technology consulting services for companies ranging from home offices to multinational corporations throughout the New York metropolitan area and in three countries. Innovation Working Group and mHealth Alliance Announce 2012 Grant Winners

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 25, 2012

The Innovation Working Group (IWG) and mHealth Alliance announced the eight 2012 winners of catalytic grants today at a luncheon event held in support of Every Woman Every Child. The IWG mHealth catalytic grant mechanism, funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and implemented in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), supports innovative uses of mobile technology to advance maternal and child health, with a focus on expanding programs to wide-scale implementation.

The power of innovation in mobile technology can only be fully utilized if success factors are identified and evidence is widely shared and utilized, said Helga Fogstad, Head of Global Health in Norad. The catalytic funding mechanism is intended to do just that. Taking to scale these innovations will improve provision, access, quality or use of highly needed maternal and child health services, which will help to reach MDGs 4 and 5.

The competitive grants provide targeted technical assistance for critical, yet challenging, areas in the scale-up process, including objectives related to generating evidence appropriate for a variety of stakeholders, building partnerships, and developing sustainable business models. Throughout each two-year grant period, the mHealth Alliance and the WHO provide opportunities for collaborative learning among the grantees in their pursuit of health impact, financial sustainability, and scale.

These catalytic grants have already advanced the progress of last years winners, said Patricia Mechael, executive director of the mHealth Alliance. There are many innovative ideas in the mHealth field, but rarely are the implementers able to scale up these solutions to have an impact. These grants will not only allow the grantees to scale up, but they will also provide others in the mHealth space the opportunity to learn from grantees experience and findings, adding to broader efforts to strategically mainstream mobile technologies to improve the lives of women and children.

The eight 2012 grant winners include:

Changamka

Changamka Microhealth Ltd. currently provides card-based saving and health payment services in Nairobi, Kenya. Under the proposed project, these services will be transitioned to a mobile phone platform, and expanded to include targeted vouchers, informational interventions, savings incentives, and training of Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) to be champions of hospital delivery. A preliminary evaluation of the maternal savings program that covered 3,000 women indicates a direct relationship between savings, affordability, and access to services. Changamka seeks to empower women of child-bearing age, ensuring that they have the information and financial resources needed to obtain high quality care for themselves and their babies.

Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI)

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is saving lives in low-and middle-income countries by helping people gain access to essential medicines and health services. In Malawi, Frontline SMS technology has been recognized by the Ministry of Health (MoH) as an effective mechanism for quickly tracing patients who miss appointments, communicating CD4 and Early Infant Diagnostic results, and identifying patients with other urgent and pressing medical conditions. CHAI will continue existing efforts to support Malawis MoH by establishing a public-private partnership with local telecommunications providers to create long-term, low-cost solutions at the national scale to make this intervention and related mHealth interventions more affordable for the government. As a result of this work, CHAI expects that all mother-infant pairs who enrolled in a Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) program and who miss an appointment will receive follow up within two weeks of their missed visit, and all mothers and their babies will return to clinics for health care within a month.

International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD)

The International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) is a non-profit foundation, with over 15 years of experiences in using information and communication technology as a tool for development. To further improve child and maternal health monitoring in Yirimadjo, a poor outskirt community of Bamako, Mali, IICD and Orange Mali have partnered with a community development program to strengthen the work of local mothers acting as Community Health Workers (CHWs) via mobile phones. By making use of mobiles phones and a special mobile application, the semi-literate CHWs improve patient case management by conducting prevention, diagnosis and treatment in a more efficient and cost-effective way, thus serving more people faster in Yirimadjo. The community development program focuses particularly on malaria, as it is one of the main causes of maternal and child mortality in the area.

Malaria No More

Malaria No More is a nonprofit organization determined to help the world reach the global goal of near zero malaria deaths in Africa by 2015. With this in mind, Malaria No More helped develop and implement NightWatch, a malaria communications platform that uses celebrity voices to reach vulnerable populations through SMS text messaging, television, radio and music. NightWatch has attracted participation from Africas biggest stars, support from international private-sector partners, and endorsement from the Ministry of Health in each country of engagement, helping to save lives and empower families to take action in the global fight against malaria. Building on successful pilots in Senegal and Cameroon and thorough research on behavior change theory, Malaria No More plans to expand the NightWatch platform in Tanzania. Malaria No More will record celebrity voice messages to be sent to mobile subscribers; produce regular, interactive activations through regional radio stations to encourage mobile engagement; and initiate a targeted SMS campaign with mobile partner Zantel.

Praekelt Foundation

Praekelt Foundation builds open source, scalable mobile solutions that aim to improve the wellbeing of people living in poverty in South Africa. One example is working with a program funded by the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA) to provide a mobile-based SMS service for mothers and mothers-to-be with high quality, locally relevant, week-by-week information on pregnancy and infant care. The service will tie into a dynamic community portal with social networking features, additional SMS messaging, and interactive quizzes. This grant will support the development of additional features to significantly grow the user base (notably a live chat feature permitting real-time engagement with experts and counselors), an expanded SMS program to more quickly reach the lowest income mothers, and additional monitoring and evaluation sites to generate evidence on real health outcomes. MAMA aims to reach one million mothers and household decision makers in South Africa over three years, with appropriate and ethical advertising supporting the bulk of ongoing maintenance costs.

Medic Mobile

Medic Mobile develops technologies to leverage low-cost mobile platforms and connect people at every level of the health systemfrom clinicians to community health workers to patients – working with more than 30 international and local partners across 16 countries in Africa, Asia, North America, and South America. In partnership with DMF India and Stanford University, Medic Mobile will implement a two-year, multistage plan to leverage mobile infrastructure to send automated, timely, patient-centric SMS reminders for vaccinations in India. While some regions have experienced relative success in improving complete vaccination rates by one year of life, the national average remains a dismal 36.3%. Recent work by Medic Mobile demonstrates that an automated, text

Morgenthaler Ventures, a premier venture capital firm, and Health 2.0, the conference that showcases the leading new technologies in healthcare, today announced the winners of DC to VCs HIT Startup Showcase, a contest that identifies the promising health IT startups seeking funding. After 12 on-stage presentations in front of leading venture capitalists, angel investors, government officials and entrepreneurs, the judges selected Beyond Lucid Technologies as the winner of the Series A funding category and Aidin as the winner of the Seed Stage category.

Were very proud of the entire class of competitors. These are the very best ventures from across the country, and each one is raising the bar in the Health IT industry,” said Rebecca Lynn, Partner at Morgenthaler Ventures and head of the firm’s health IT investing team. The finalists are the future of our industry. In particular, for the Series A category, Beyond Lucid Technologies stood out by presenting a comprehensive emergency-response solution that addresses a real pain point and proving traction with paying clients.

In the Seed Stage category, Aidin was selected for being the Yelp for post acute care providers that integrates directly into the discharge planning workflow, said Anne DeGheest, Managing Director & Founder, Health Tech Capital. Aidin also won the Peoples Choice award through an audience vote.

The Series A Peoples Choice winner was CarePlanners.

The 12 finalists of the DC to VC: HIT Startup Showcase were grouped into two categories: companies seeking Series A Venture funding ($ 2-5M+) or Seed Stage funding. The Seed stage candidates were submitted by the events accelerator partners: Rock Health, Blue Print Health, Healthbox and Startup Health.

The winners were hand picked by two independent panels of Venture Capital and Health IT judges for each category and graded using a strict criteria. More information on the criteria can be found here.

This year we saw a lot of interesting themes emerge in the application pool, like companies that are focusing on Big Data and Care Coordination. We also saw companies that were more mature in revenue and customers, said Missy Krasner, Executive in Residence (EIR) at Morgenthaler Ventures, and former Google Health founding member.

SMB Nation Announces Winners of SMB IT Channel Vendor Hot Shot Awards

Bainbridge Island, WA (PRWEB) October 25, 2012

SMB Nation announced today the winners of its 1st Annual Hot Shot Awards contest. The awards, which recognize SMB channel vendors who have made a difference for VARs, MSPs, and IT consultants through their commitment and efforts in the SMB IT space, were presented during the final day of SMB Nations Fall Conference in Las Vegas last week.

The Hot Shot Awards recognized vendors in 11 different areas, including Backup and Disaster Recovery; Cloud and Virtualization; Hardware and Peripherals; Managed Print Services; Marketing and Educational Services; Mobility; On-Premises Infrastructure; Remote Monitoring and Management; Professional Services Automation; Security; and Unified Communications.

The vendor nomination and voting process for the Hot Shot Awards was conducted over a one-month period from August 15, 2012 to September 15, 2012. Once the preliminary voting period closed, a panel of SMB channel experts reviewed the ballots and made a final determination based on the vendor’s product diversity, uniqueness, ability to enhance the SMB industry, cost efficiency, ability to overcome technology obstacles, and impact on SMB IT solution provider operations.

The winners of SMB Nations 1st Annual Hot Shot Awards are listed as follows (by category):

BDR: Axcient

Cloud/Virtualization: FiberCloud

Hardware and Peripherals: Lenovo

Managed Print Services: OKI Data

Marketing and Educational Services: ChannelEyes

Mobility: Research in Motion (RIM)

On-Premises Infrastructure: BIS Computer Solutions, Inc.

PSA: Autotask

RMM: N-Able Technologies

Security: AVG

Unified Communications: Plantronics, Vocalocity

While Im naturally hesitant to identify anything as a first annual at the risk of it not proceeding, I can wrap some exciting context around our Hot Shot Awards! Truth be told, weve had on-site voting for several years at the SMB Nation Fall Conference with paper ballots, shared Harry Brelsford, Founder of SMB Nation. But we knew we could improve the process, avoid voting irregularities and hanging chads. So we wisely went to online voting where attendees had more time to study the ballot, investigate each sponsor and vote prudently. We salute these winners as having passed a high bar of community scrutiny. This is truly an earned award and not just an honorary title. And yes you can look forward to even more electoral excitement next year at SMB Nation Fall 2013 to be held October 10-12, 2013 in Vegas!

Beyond the Hot Shot Awards, this year’s fall conference focused on “Life after Small Business Server” and the ongoing transformation of the SMB technology channel due to cloud computing, virtualization, mobile computing, Windows 8 and Server 2012, and other emerging technologies. Save the date for SMB Nation Fall 2013, which is scheduled to occur Oct. 10-12, 2013, and will be presented in conjunction with 1105 Media (Redmond Channel Partner magazine).
