AppliedSensor Inc. CEO Thomas Aiken to Present New Research on Rapid Detection of Gas Emissions from Lithium ION Cells at 2012 SAE World Congress

Warren, NJ (PRWEB) April 24, 2012

AppliedSensor, a designer and manufacturer of chemical sensor components, today announced that AppliedSensor Inc. CEO Thomas Aiken will present new research data on battery cell emissions monitoring at the Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE) World Congress, April 25, 2012 in Detroit, Michigan. Aikens presentation will address the question of whether gas emissions from lithium ion cells can be detected rapidly enough to represent a new tool for pack diagnostics and safety. The findings will present OEMs with a solution to support continued development of electric vehicles. SAE attendees will include more than 10,000 international engineers, academics, government officials and others from the automotive engineering sector.

Our goal is to continue supporting future endeavors in automotive technology. To do this, we need to remain a step ahead of our customers to determine what they need to get to the next level. As pioneers in gas sensor technology, this presentation is an opportunity for attendees to gain some insight about the most recent work weve done to ensure lithium ion batteries are a safe, effective solution for electric vehicles, said Aiken.

AppliedSensor tested three types of automotive sensors (volatile organics and hydrogen) under nail penetration, overcharge and short-circuit stress parameters in a controlled test environment. Data concluded that volatile organic compound (VOC) and hydrogen sensors rapidly detect flammable gases emitted from lithium ion cells. Other findings include:

Gas is detected prior to temperature increase
Gas is detected prior to combustion
Sensors withstand high pressure and temperature of combustion

Aiken will be available on the exhibit floor from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on April 26 for an extended, informal discussion of his presentation. During the three-day event, attendees will have access to the latest technical knowledge, peer-to-peer networking, management programs and an innovators-only exhibition.

24 Million Industrial Wireless Sensing Points in 2016, Says ON World

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 21, 2012

An erratic global economy did not prevent the industrial Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) market from doubling over the past two years, according to a recently published report by ON World, a global technology research firm. Early adopters have demonstrated that WSN is secure, reliable and can be targeted at new monitoring and control solutions that were previously deemed too expensive or located in prohibitively difficult environments. Networks are expanding and ON World identified several deployments with over 3,000 WSN nodes.

The migration to standards based wireless mesh systems in the process automation space has replaced proprietary systems faster than what our 2010 survey indicated, says Mareca Hatler, ON Worlds research director. However, competition for WSN protocols continues to be intense and point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless systems are experiencing high growth rates in key verticals such as oil and gas.

For the 2012 industrial Wireless Sensor Network report, ON World collaborated with the International Society of Automation (ISA), HART Communication Foundation (HCF) and the Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance (WINA) to conduct a survey on WSN with 216 industrial automation professionals. ON World also interviewed 55+ individuals with leading industrial automation vendors, suppliers and industry groups.

In ON World’s survey, 70% of the end users are planning WSN or additional WSN deployments within the next 18 months. The survey also found that approximately an equal number of respondents prefer WirelessHART or a hybrid strategy that includes WirelessHART and ISA100.11a.

The standards migration is changing the industrial WSN landscape. This is demonstrated by Linears acquisition of Dust Networks and a growing number of new entrants such as AwiaTech, E-Senza and Softing that are focused on open platforms and lowering development costs. Industrial wireless sensing and control opportunities are also growing for non-mesh 802.15.4, WiFi, Bluetooth/802.15.1 and Ultra Wideband.

Installed wireless industrial field devices will increase by 553% between 2011 and 2016 when there will be 24 million wireless-enabled sensors and actuators, or sensing points, deployed worldwide. At this time, 39% will be used for new applications that are only feasible with wireless sensing.

ON Worlds recently published report, Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks, covers the global market for industrial Wireless Sensor Networking with 5-year forecasts by geography, landscape (e.g. process, vertical industries, discrete/factory automation), target market (e.g. oil & gas, refining/petrochemicals, chemicals, food & beverage, etc.), application and technology. WSN protocols covered include 802.15.4 (mesh and non-mesh), WiFi and other wireless technologies including point-to-point/point-to-multipoint systems. The report also provides the key findings from the recently completed survey as well as an extensive technology evaluation and competitive analysis of 85 companies in five product segments.

Mobile Dating Service Yumixo Announces Its Launch and Brings Online Dating Back to Real World

Moscow, Russia (PRWEB) June 19, 2012

Yumixo Team today announced the release of their dating application for iOS devices. Yumixo mobile app uses geo-location functionality to help singles to find dates nearby. Dates are the core of Yumixo experience and they are all about offline dating. People post first date suggestions either to the community overall, or they can invite someone specific. For example, a person can post a date: lets take a tango class and then test our moves at the Cinco de Mayo party. Potential matches may reply by indicating their interest in this date. If both parties are interested, they can settle on specifics of the meeting by safely communicating within the application, without revealing their phone number of email address. In addition to finding the dates, the app allows to find other singles in the vicinity. With Foursquare integration Yumixo allows to assign a nearby place to a date, so that people can imagine their first date in that place.

Today finding your second half online is hard. People are faced with dozens of dating sites. Often these sites require people to complete long profiles or answer psychological questionnaires which supposedly will help you find your perfect match. Then, there are hundreds of profiles; and you can never be sure whether they are fake or real. Even if you like the persons profile, it may turn out that a great match on paper doesnt have chemistry that you are looking for. Hours spent on sifting through the profiles, and writing messages back and forth can be wasted.

“There is no equation for love and you shouldn’t rely on math behind many compatibility tests to find a person you want to be with. The only math principle you should rely on is the law of big numbers – the more you meet new people, the more likely you are to find your special one.” – says Almas Abulkhairov, Yumixo Team Leader.

Yumixos solution to the online dating problem is to help people meet each other face to face as early as possible. By proposing dates, people reveal something about their personality. And if you accept a fun date, you know that at least you will have a good time, even if you dont find your romantic partner this time around. It is going on disappointing dates one after another, which makes singles decide that there is no hope and give up online dating. Yumixo makes dating easier, more fun and less awkward, by allowing people to specify experience in advance, and by helping singles to match up with those who have similar interests. In addition, to provide safety, each user is given opportunity to validate their account with Facebook, so that people can judge on that person by number of their friends on Facebook.

Yumixo team is backed by ABRT Venture Fund, which was established by Ratmir Timashev and Andrei Baronov, the founders of Aelita Software. They started Aelita from the ground up and eventually sold it in 2004 for $ 115 mln to Quest Software. Now they are the founders and the leaders of Veeam Software, which is one of the leading companies in the virtualization and cloud backup and disaster recovery, and management market.

Yumixo app is live in the App Store: it is simple, intuitive, and free to download and use.

Give it a try!
