Study Reveals Californians Must Increase Earthquake Preparedness; Less Than 20 Percent Have Prepared Their Homes; Only 40 Percent Have Sufficient Water

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) March 5, 2010

A majority of Californians have taken initial steps toward earthquake preparedness but more than 60 percent of Californians have not done enough to make their homes safer and guard their personal finances in preparation for an inevitable, large-scale earthquake, according to a recent California Earthquake Preparedness Survey.

Although state and local public safety and emergency management agencies are better prepared than ever before, California residents have focused on easy preparedness activities such as collecting supplies and making back-up copies of important documents but they have not done more difficult and expensive activities such as securing the contents of their home or purchasing earthquake insurance, according to the survey.

Key findings of the survey were:

New Case Study Renown Designers Journey to Enhance Business

Hoboken, NJ (Vocus) October 27, 2010

Whether he is designing a custom residence, a home-away-from-home boutique hotel, or a line of furniture or textiles, interior designer Campion Platt has one thing in mind: luxury. His holistic approach creates highly personalized spaces making him a favorite of celebrities including Al Pacino, Meg Ryan, Roger Waters, Conan OBrien, Jay McInerney and socialite Anne Hearst. Campions unique brand of innovative design also extends to the IT support consultant he chooses to support his business, eMazzanti Technologies.

A new case study captures the designers technology journey. A full version of the story is available at emazzanti.net.

IT Function Over Form Needed

For Campion, IT function trumps form. Its network and computers needed to add value while improving productivity. However, business productivity ended up victim to massive email spam. Up-time, security and backup protection were concerns for intellectual property and overall business, and the need for full-file access while on the road was paramount for the continent-hopping president. eMazzanti addressed all of Campions concerns with its eCare/MXINSPECT solutions.

eMazzanti Technologies eCare is a robust family of services that includes eCare Network Management (fixed-fee IT support), eCare Business Continuity, and eCare Exchange. These services make it easier for customers to maintain their network, protect intellectual property and files as well as collaborate and share information more efficiently.

Spam Eliminated, Productivity Restored

“One of our biggest problems was spam. Every employee was getting over 100 per day and it was killing productivity. eMazzanit’s MXINSPECT Email Defense virtually eliminated all the spam and let us go on with our business.”

Remote Access to Critical Files

“As office manager, my job often extends to solving problems other than 9-to-5. eMazzanti’s remote desktop access allows me to solve problems faster no matter what time it is, said Christine Carroll, office manager, Campion Platt.

“eMazzanti has our ‘back’. They remotely monitor and fix our network to make sure we’re ready to do business anytime, from anywhere, noted Campion. Isn’t this the kind of IT support any business would want?”

About eMazzanti Technologies

With a company name that sounds more like a purebred, high-performance sports car than a IT support and consulting firm, eMazzanti Technologies is all about delivering powerful solutions such as computer network management, network troubleshooting, business continuity and disaster recovery, green computing, mobile workforce technology, information security and business information optimization in the most efficient manner possible. OB10-The Institute of Financial Operations Study Finds More Companies Expediting Collections through e-Invoicing and Early Pay Discounts

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 10, 2012

The third annual Accounts Receivable (AR) Survey from OB10 (http://www.ob10.com), the e-Invoicing network, and The Institute of Financial Operations, the globally recognized authority on best practices in financial operations, finds that more companies are accelerating their collections processes through e-Invoicing and are taking discounts for early payment. The survey gauges the views of accounts receivable and credit professionals in the areas of collections, invoicing, payment processes, and the economy.

The 147 participants included AR and credit professionals, CEOs, presidents, and CFOs from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies in North America and the UK. The results indicate that e-Invoicing continues to grow as a reliable invoice submission method, as 29% of respondents use it versus 26% last year. This is also the first year that respondents use of e-Invoicing has surpassed that of EDI.

Regardless of the invoicing submission method used, 85% of respondents believe electronic invoicing expedites the collections process. Additionally, early pay discounts are growing as a cash-management option, with two-thirds indicating that they have accepted discount terms offered by their customers.

When asked about the results of their collections efforts, 50% were only somewhat satisfied, suggesting that there is an opportunity to find and implement an ideal solution or combination of solutions to improve collections. More respondents said that they were calling late-paying customers to chase payment. This method has increased in popularity over the last three years from 55% in 2010 to 61% in 2012.

While this years survey shows good growth for invoice automation, more can be done to streamline the procure-to-pay process, said Luke McKeever, CEO for OB10. Increased adoption will improve organizations satisfaction in their collection efforts and eliminate the need to call customers to chase late payments. We can then expect to see more organizations take advantage of early pay discounts.

This years AR survey shows how OB10 and The Institute of Financial Operations continue to have an acute understanding of what organizations find important in the procure-to-pay process, said Jo E. LaBorde, Executive Director of The Institute of Financial Operations. We are equipped to monitor trends and offer solutions designed to help improve their financial operations.

This years AR survey introduces the Invoice, Payment and Cash Flow (IPC) Barometer, which asks for respondents opinions on how effective they are in invoicing, customer payment efficiency, and cash-flow management and generates an overall score. Organizations will soon be able to gauge their own IPC Barometer result on the OB10 website and learn how to improve it.

Government Agencies Seek Tech Solutions That Promote Efficiency, Reduce Costs, New CompTIA Study Finds

Downers Grove, IL (PRWEB) May 17, 2011

Challenged by tight budgets, bureaucratic hurdles and a dramatic rise in cybersecurity attacks, government agencies are looking for technology solutions that help them become more efficient while at the same time reducing costs, according to new research released today by CompTIA, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry.

CompTIAs Second Annual Government IT Purchase Plans study finds that the top influencer driving government IT purchase plans over the next 12 months is a desire to become more efficient and reduce long-term costs. It was identified as an influential or very influential factor in purchase decisions by 60 percent of the government IT decision makers or influencers surveyed.

A significant number of respondents, 54 percent, said the need to comply with a mandate or regulation is a driving factor in IT spending. Other top purchase influencers include responding to the needs of citizens and staff (53 percent); and the need to modernize aging systems (47 percent), especially systems that are vulnerable to security threats due to dated technology.

Though budget challenges and the burden of bureaucracy can slow the pace of change, government technology spending will continue, particularly on solutions that help to ease the challenges of resources and security, said Amy Carrado, director, market research, CompTIA.

But with money to spend increasingly precious, agencies are likely to demand greater returns on their investments and require vendors to clearly prove the effectiveness of their solutions.

Nearly four in ten (39 percent) of federal, state and local government IT decision makers and influencers identified new data backup and recovery solutions as a priority over the next 12 months. Security applications were cited by 37 percent of respondents, followed by virtualization solutions (30 percent) and content management solutions (24 percent). Options such as unified communications and cloud computing (18 percent each) ranked slightly lower on the list.

This may be a signal that government users need further education from their IT providers on how cloud computing and unified communications can effectively address their objectives of greater operational efficiencies, Carrado said.

Among specific products on government shopping lists, desktop PCs (51 percent) and laptop PCs (48 percent) hold the top two spots, according to the CompTIA study. Local government agencies are especially bullish on purchases of new PCs, including tablet PCs.

Other purchase priorities for the next 12 months include servers (37 percent), printers (33 percent), operating systems (32 percent), productivity suites and software (28 percent), network infrastructure (27 percent) and smart phones (23 percent).

Agencies Plan More Training

Nearly half (44 percent) of government IT respondents at the federal, state and local levels plan to implement employee training for both IT staff and end users over the next 12 months

This suggests that even under severe budget constraints, government agencies continue to recognize the importance of a well-trained workforce that understands how to effectively use technology, Carrado said.

Among the training priorities: PC maintenance, help desk and tech support; security; disaster recovery and backup; and networking. Project management, business intelligence and data management and analysis also appear on the training priority list.

Increased interest by government agencies in training is something that technology vendors and solution providers should note, according to Carrado.

Technology providers should consider providing training sessions as a value-add when government organizations purchase a product, or offering mini-tutorials to employees at agencies where there is potential for purchases in the near future, she said.

CompTIAs Second Annual Government IT Purchase Plans study was developed from a survey of 375 federal, state and local IT buyers and influencers. The data was collected during late February 2011.The full report is available at no cost to CompTIA members at http://www.comptia.org or by contacting the research department at research(at)comptia(dot)org.

Independent Research Firm Unveils New Study that Identifies Data Center-to-Data Center WAN Connectivity as a Major Impediment for Big Data Deployments

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2011

Infineta Systems, the first and only provider of WAN optimization systems for Big Traffic workflows, today released the findings of a new research report that examines the intersection of Big Data and the enterprise WAN. Conducted by Infineta in collaboration with Internet Research Group (IRG), an independent analysis and research firm, the report looks in-depth at large organizations leveraging Big Data to make better business decisions, and identifies several emerging trends that are poised to become barriers to the adoption of Big Data technologies. Drawing on real-world customer use cases and extensive customer surveys, the research also validates that the WAN is a critical component of a distributed Big Data strategy and that breakthrough WAN optimization technologies are essential for the enterprise to fully harness the power and promise of Big Data.

Prior to this study, there was very little insight into the ability of existing WAN infrastructure to sustain the runaway growth of Big Data, stated Raj Kanaya, CEO and co-founder of Infineta Systems. Our collaborative research effort with IRG provides solid insights into the intersection of Big Data and the WAN, and how enterprises need to plan for and equip their infrastructure so they see material business benefits of Big Data sooner.

Big Data is the newest driver behind Big Traffic workflows traversing enterprise networks and refers to data sets that are not well suited for traditional storage or analytics systems. An estimated 80-90% of Big Data is comprised of semi- or unstructured data, unlike the structured data found in conventional data sets. In addition, Big Data is characterized by aggregate volumes in the 100s of terabytes to petabytes of distributed data. Indeed, mission-critical data sets are doubling or tripling in size every two years on average, with Gartner forecasting that enterprise data will grow approximately 800% by 2015.

Why Big Data Matters

Big Data heralds enormous change and untapped value for the enterprise, as new technologies emerge to handle Big Data analysis, presentation, management, and distribution. Key drivers behind these technologies include:

Consuro Managed Technology and Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford Featured in Dell Customer Case Study

Fort Worth, Texas (PRWEB) February 21, 2012

Consuro Managed Technology and Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford, two north Texas companies, are the subjects of a Dell(TM) Inc. Customer Case Study published on Dells website. Consuro, a premier Texas-based managed technology services company serving businesses from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, worked with client Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford, an architecture, planning and interior design firm, to refresh its IT systems to improve performance availability and scalability while keeping costs down.

The case study highlights the benefits achieved by Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford through its work with Consuro. According to the Dell report, In professional services industries such as architecture and design, technology has been the great leveler. Armed with the same applications and tools as larger firms, small and midsize businesses are able to capture a larger share of the market.

To accomplish Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanfords goals, Consuro — an IT consultant group and local Dell certified partner — worked closely with the clients Director of Information Technology, Jason Adams, and Eric Hahnfeld, AIA, President. Together, the team implemented a Dell and Microsoft infrastructure, helping the architecture firm be more productive and efficient, and to enhance competitive positioning.

Consuro met with Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford to understand their business, and then created a technology plan to specifically meet the clients needs. According to Mr. Adams, this methodology resulted in surprising cost savings.

Consuro developed a virtualization plan that saved us 50 percent compared to scaling the traditional way of buying more hardware to fix the problem, said Mr. Adams.

We deliver much more than hardware, added Ben Tiblets, Consuro co-president. We analyze each clients specific business then develop a custom plan. Our multiple solutions guide our clients as they choose what is best for their company. Then we show them how to leverage the systems for their needs.

Not only is Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford seeing improvement in their infrastructure, they also recognize increased employee productivity. The firms 29 registered architects, interior designers and architectural interns primarily use Autodesk Revit
